Wrapping up the tail of Hanuman in rags and soaking it in oil, and then lighting it up, the ogres, as urged by Ravana, take Hanuman round the city to the accompaniment of beats of drums. Hearing this news from the lips of the ogresses, Sita prays to the god of fire on oath to see that Hanuman remains unscathed. Climbing up the gate and shedding the fire by attenuating his body, and then resuming vast proportions and seizing the iron bar of the gate, Hanuman kills with it the ogres guarding the gate.Recitation: 00:00 - 07:53Translation: 07:56 - 18:14

Karen Read Trial Day 12 Recap: Taillight Fragments, Black Straws & Bloody Jeans Today's courtroom drama in the Karen Read trial was nothing short of explosive. In this episode, we break down the full testimony of Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik as he's grilled by defense attorney Alan Jackson in a cross-examination that left the jury visibly shaken. From accusations of bias to disturbing revelations about former Trooper Michael Proctor's involvement—and his now-infamous text messages—this trial is heating up fast. We walk you through the moment Bukhenik refused to call Proctor the “lead investigator,” the implications of that refusal, and how the defense is building a case that the entire investigation may have been corrupted from within. You'll also hear about key pieces of physical evidence introduced today: taillight fragments, a broken cocktail glass, and John O'Keefe's frozen baseball cap found buried in snow. And if that weren't enough, the prosecution had to deal with a labeling error on O'Keefe's sneaker evidence mid-trial—prompting a recess to verify what went wrong. This episode dives deep into everything revealed on May 8, 2025, from both legal and psychological angles. Whale and dolphin researcher, Barry McGovern's love of sea creatures started in Clare, Ireland, when as a child he met the county's solitary, friendly dolphin, named for the singer Dusty Springfield.Barry grew up in a tiny surfing village where he knew all the bird calls off by heart. His interest in animal science led him to Edinburgh Zoo, where he fed cassowaries and regularly, accidentally spooked a flock of Chilean flamingos. He assisted on a mammal research trip in Namibia, where he learned just how many people are required to take biopsy sample from a giraffe. Eventually he settled on whales, and he learned the lesson that while animals can be lots of fun to study, they come with a heavy research load, and not much time spent out in the wild.Barry has been slapped in the face by a whale's tail and watched mother humpback whales squirt-feed their calves breast milk like cottage cheese. And he couldn't be happier. Today, Barry works at the Pacific Whale Foundation, Australia. This episode was produced by Alice Moldovan. Conversations' EP is Nicola Harrison. DAMION1Kohl's CEO Fired for Funneling Business to Romantic Partner 10Kohl's boss Ashley Buchanan tried to funnel business to a romantic partner and lost his job. It wasn't the first time their personal and professional lives had crossed.Kohl's fired Buchanan on Thursday after it discovered he had instructed the retailer to enter into a “highly unusual” business deal involving a woman with whom he has a romantic relationship, according to people familiar with the situation. The pair currently live together in an upscale golf community in the suburbs of Dallas.Buchanan met the woman, Chandra Holt, when they were both working at Walmart several years ago, the people said. His divorce proceedings show the two had a romantic relationship while he was the CEO of Michaels. The arts-and-crafts chain also tried to hire Holt during his tenure.A Kohl's board investigation by outside lawyers found that Buchanan violated the company's code of conduct in two instances with a vendor with whom he had a personal relationship and whom it didn't name, according to a regulatory filing. The filing said he directed the retailer to conduct business with a vendor founded by this person “on highly unusual terms,” and he caused the company to enter into a multimillion-dollar consulting agreement, where that person was part of the consulting team.On Thursday, Kohl's appointed Chairman Michael Bender as its interim CEO. This week on F.A.T.E. (From Atheism to Enlightenment), I sit down with Douglas Hodgson— former law professor, University Dean, and author—who has spent years digging into one of humanity's biggest questions: What happens when we die?Douglas has researched near-death experiences, explored ancient texts, and studied every major religion—from Buddhism to Zoroastrianism—in search of answers. Together, we explore whether death is an ending, a beginning, or something far more mystical. Is Death a portal to the spiritual realm? A rebirth back to our true nature? Can we release our fear of Death? This is a grounded yet expansive conversation about consciousness, transition, and the sacred unknown. Don't miss this powerful episode as we try to reframe death as a transistion not the end. The 365 Days of Astronomy, the daily podcast of the International Year of Astronomy 2009
Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From March 2024. Today's 2 topics: - My Catalina Sky Survey teammate Josh Hogan was asteroid hunting in the constellation of Taurus with our 60 inch telescope on Mt. Lemmon, Arizona when he came across a very curious object. It has an orbit like an ordinary main belt asteroid. However, amazingly it has a tail extending some 19,000 miles out from a few mile diameter central object. - My new Catalina Sky Survey Teammate Vivian Carjaval was scheduled for three 13h long winter nights for her first solo observing run on our Schmidt telescope on Mt. Bigelow, Arizona. As luck would have it she couldn't observe the first night because of high winds and blowing snow, while on the second night she was treated to lots of clouds under a bright moon, however, on the third night the Universe treated her to a clear night and sent two unknown Earth Approaching asteroids her way. In the latest episode of the Building Better Developers podcast — part of the Building Better Businesses season — Rob Broadhead and Michael Meloche tackle an all-too-common challenge: how to stop chasing your tail when you're overwhelmed. When panic sets in, it's easy to feel trapped and exhausted. But by learning to recognize the signs early and taking small, strategic steps, you can break the cycle and get your progress back on track. Stop Chasing Your Tail: Recognize When You're Stuck Panic usually strikes when we realize we're no longer moving forward. Rob describes this moment as a dog chasing its tail — you suddenly become aware that you're going nowhere, which triggers frustration or fear. Common causes include: Overcommitment and unrealistic expectations Financial stress from unplanned expenses Projects running off course Emotional burnout from constant pressure Callout: “Sometimes the best first step is to simply stop and admit: this isn't working.” — Rob Broadhead Before rushing to fix everything at once, take a moment to breathe. Acknowledge where you are without judgment — it's the first step toward real progress. Reset Your Focus and Stop Chasing Your Tail Once you've caught yourself chasing your tail, the next step is resetting your focus. Michael Meloche shared a simple but powerful process: Assess the Situation: Figure out why you're stuck. Time, money, overcommitment? Identify the actual causes. Set a Realistic Goal: Pick an achievable objective. Make sure it's something you believe you can reach. Take One Step Forward: You don't need to solve everything today. Just move one inch closer to your target. Rob emphasized that panic often prompts us to make bad decisions. Instead, progress happens through small, steady steps, and each small win builds confidence. Pro Tip: If your goal feels overwhelming, break it into even smaller milestones. Take Your First Step: Stop Chasing Your Tail Today The biggest challenge once you're stuck is picking your first step. It doesn't have to be huge — it just needs to be in the right direction. Need to fix your finances? Cancel one small expense today. Overwhelmed with work? Finish one small task you've been avoiding. Stuck in a complicated client relationship? Draft an email to start the conversation. Callout: “Momentum builds when you focus on just one small, positive action at a time.” — Rob Broadhead Even slowing down your tail-chasing a little bit helps. Eventually, you'll regain control, stop spinning, and move purposefully toward your goals. Challenge of the Episode This week's challenge is simple but powerful: If you feel stuck, take just one step forward today. Pause. Breathe. Pick one action that moves you closer to your goal. You'll be amazed how much better you feel once you're driving — even if it's just one small victory. And remember, Rob and Michael invite you to reach out anytime at info@developernurd.com if you want to share your journey or need a boost of encouragement.
