Donna is on board today to speak about movement and the importance of having consistency in moving the body daily in order to regulate our joints and make sure we can go about in our daily living. For many of us, exercise is a big part of a weight loss solution. Donna and I would like to bring a different perspective to movement i.e. it can be fun, something you actually enjoy rather than push yourself to do, it can heal emotions and old trauma and it can bring better posture and alignment to your body. On Ask Win today (Wednesday, February 6, 2019), Best-Selling Author, Win C welcomes Donna Melanson. Donna have formally been trained in Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Pranayama, Vedic Thai Yoga, Prenatal and Childrens Yoga. Donna is not sure you can say she have any one speciality as her teaching has become, a blend of all her teachers. Donna first came to yoga when her was around around ten years old. Donna’s mother took her to a community center for a series of classes. Donna specifically remember doing the sun salutations and shavasana where the yoga teacher had us moving and breathing and then instructed us to relax different parts of our bodies moving from our heads to our toes. Donna loved it, but it would be a decade later before she took another class. This time it would be a Yin class and Donna hated it. At that time in Donna’s life there was no way she could sit still, she needed more of a Power Yoga class where Donna could really let out some steam. But isn't that like all of us. At different times in our lives, or maybe just because of our preferences, we need different types of yoga. It would be another decade later when Donna started hearing in my head the recurring chant of Yoga, Yoga, Yoga, almost as if Donna was chanting Toga like they did in the 1970’s classic movie Animal House. The chant haunted Donna and she must of said it out loud a time or two because a friend bought me a 30 min VHS Gentle Yoga tape, and a very thick and short foam cushioned mat for her 5’8″ body to practice on. Donna started practicing every morning, with her feet hanging off the mat, after, Donna would sit up to meditate. Because Donna felt a calm and a peace that Donna hadn't felt for a very long time. It was so easy to “just be” in that moment, So Donna did “just be” Donna sat there just as she was, content, and at peace at a time when things were falling apart around her. Donna was happy, and hooked, and never stopped practicing. Donna will forever be a student of this beautiful practice called Yoga, and now know that their are many styles of yoga for whatever stage of life that we are in, or for whatever we need in this moment and time. Donna will continue to share what she have learned through her teaching; through the writings on her blog www.goldilocksblog.com, and through the inspiring sunrise views and vast horizons that surround us all, that we get to see every morning live on www.periscope.tv/azulyoga. Please join our community of beautiful souls from all over the world, as we breathe in deeply and are reminded of our infinite connection to the universe. Find Donna! When I opened Donna Pyle's book Without This Ring: Surviving Divorce to prepare for our interview, I was not prepared for how powerful her story and guidance would be. Silly of me since I'm a big fan of Donna's and I know she brings authenticity and practicality to the pages of her writing! But her raw story struck a chord with me thinking back to broken moments in my own marriage. I'm not divorced - by the grace of God - and God has brought much healing to my own relationship. Evenso, Donna's story and the things she learned resonated so much with me. All of this made interviewing her even more powerful for me. Donna's book seeks to present various perspectives and issues for divorcees and help the reader see Christ centered steps towards hope and healing. She does a great job. I highly recommend the book and I have no doubt if you listen to this show - whether you are going through a divorce or not - you will glean much from our talk. I tried to touch on points that will be helpful for those facing divorce as well as the community of people who love them. Our conversation included the following topics: God hates divorce; does he hate me? Divorce is traumatic. Give grace to hurting people. The case for counseling. Obedience is necessary and incredibly useful. FORGIVENESS! It's possible and not what you think. Find Donna here at Artesian Ministries and find the book here on Amazon and here at CPH. Pick it up today for yourself or a friend. Also in this show I reference 2 podcast episodes that were inspired by Donna: Messy Circumstances, Messy Conversations Part I Messy Circumstances, Messy Conversations Part II As well as my first episode on sexual assault, with a series of episodes to follow in the coming months. Thanks for listening! I hope this interview was a blessing to you. Share with your friends!
