PART 2 FEATURING MEMBERS OF JESUS PIECE, EDGEWISE, DAMNATION AD, and I mean, lots of cool people not in bands or in bands that you don;t know about. It is, without a doubt, lit.   HEY EVERYBODY!! Welcome to the second installment of our THIS IS HARDCORE FEST special episode. Now look, I know what you are thinking on this: “Liam, why is this episode so damn long?” LOOK Y’ALL, I SCREWED UP. I thought I had balanced out our two episodes perfectly and I had not. I’m sorry. I’m just nervous I guess cause that last episode had GODDAMN CHAKA MALIK on it and that had me kind of stoked and pumped at once. Anyway, as you know we record these on the spot jawns in a real on the run manner, so sound quality is rough, and a few key moments and people got cut off. Huge apologies for that, we owe you one or whatever. BIG THANKS TO JUSTIN LORE, SEAN BENNIS-SINE, EVAN VELLELA , MIKEY SMACK, GRACE KIM, AND ALL THE AWESOME PEOPLE WHO TOOK TIME OUT OF THEIR BUSY SCHEDULES TO TALK TO US! As usual, huge thanks to Joe and Chris from THIS IS HARDCORE FEST, Madi, our peoples at Broad Street Breakdown and the Hardcore Kids Corner, and to all the folks who took a flyer or bought a barf bag or a shirt, and big thanks to LEHIGH VALLEY APPAREL CREATIONS for printing our stuff. There are a huge variety of topics covered here we could link to, but you bozos have google so do it yourself. One exception, Freddy Alva talks about his new book which you can find out more info about here! Basically, that is it! PLEASE RATE, REVIEW, SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE! The more this thing grows, the better equipment we can get, and the better we can make this all sound thanks everybody, you great! ON THIS EPISODE A SPECIAL CONVERSATION WITH WALTER SCHREIFELS, CHAKA MALIK, GAVIN VAN VLACK, MARK BEEMER, KEVIN HARE, STEPHEN X WELCH, AND MORE!!     Greetings all, and thanks for joining us for a very special edition of Cinepunx, recorded almost entirely at THIS IS HARDCORE FEST!  This is the first part of our series, the second will post soon. We spoke to so many great people that we needed to break this into a couple episodes. On this episode we start off with an intro, a few folks from the fest, and then an extended conversation mostly with Chaka and Gavin of BURN but with some brief words from Walter Schreifels of GORILLA BISCUITS, QUICKSAND, HANDSOME and many more! As is often the case with our special THIS IS HARDCORE FEST episodes, the audio on this is rough. Your patience is appreciated, and your willingness to put up with all of it is amazing! Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support we received this weekend. It was powerful and wonderful, and just a reminder of why we do this. Keep your eyes peeled for a second episode soon. Not much in show notes other than that Josh goes on a rant about all these awesome details regarding GREEN ROOM, and before any of you write us yes, we know he got almost all of them wrong. So don’t bother correcting us, we got it covered. THANKS THOUGH!! As usual there are too many people to thank, from the folks at the fest to Freddy Alva, Justin Lore, Wrong Evan, Sean Bennis-Sine, Steven DiLodovico and OG Gavin and all the BSB crew, Grace Kim, The Spina’s, and many many more. Regardless we love you, PLEASE RATE, REVIEW, AND SUBSCRIBE!   The post CINEPUNX Episode 53: THIS IS HARDCORE SPECIAL EPISODE PART 1 appeared first on Cinepunx.

Welcome CINEPUNX to a very special edition of our show!! For this episode we were invited by friend/collaborator/awesome guy Joseph Gervasi to be apart of the LOUD! FAST! PHILLY! hosted screening of NEW BREED DOCUMENTARY 1989 as part of the CINEDELPHIA FILM FEST! Freddy Alva, Tony Rettman, John Woods, and Orlando Arce sat down with us. Each of them are not only a part of making this interesting film, but are likely known to you for their other endeavors, and of course Freddy Alva put the original tape compilation together with Chaka Malik. We were honored to have such an accomplished panel of guests to talk about this amazing documentary, and of course to talk a bit about the compliation itself and the era of NYHC it represents.  Here are some pictures of the event and of us recording for it!   We cannot thank everyone involved enough for such an awesome event, and helping us record a truly fun episode. Even Evan V got in on the action and asked a question! He also took 3 of the pictures above so that is important too. The sound turned out pretty good, despite plugging in WAY more microphones than we have ever done before. During the show we reference a lot of things worth checking out, but some we want to link you to right away are below, and if we forgot any let us know! This month I sat down with Freddy Alva who runs Wardance Records to talk about the history of ABC No Rio and the climate of the hardcore scene in NYC when Freddy and some of his friends decided to start putting on shows there every Saturday. These shows still happen today, though Freddy and his crew are All Grown Up and it's a different gang of kids involved. Now Freddy's label Wardance Records (wardancerecords.bigcartel.com) has been reissuing some of the coolest releases from Back In The Day. Check it out!
