IM Greg Shahade was the very first guest of Perpetual Chess and has remained a frequent and insightful contributor  ever since. A former youth national champion, Greg has subsequently  been involved in the chess world in an array of capacities —founder of the US Chess School (which provides free training to top American juniors), creator of the now-defunct Pro Chess League, and a near-2800-rated blitz player on Chess.com who has maintained his level well into his 40s. Presented by 6D Helmets In 2007, Adam Jones was at the top of Freestyle Motocross with a X Games Gold Medal in MTX Freestyle and was also named TransWorld Motocross Freestyle MX Rider of the Year. His decorated competition career carried on for over a decade after that, and these days at age 41, he still makes a living on his dirt bike. Jones owns FMX Ramp-Age, a freestyle demo team that puts on family-friendly FMX shows at fairs and events on the West Coast, and he's also partnered with another freestyle legend - Levi Sherwood - to create FMX Legends, a resoource to help guide up-and-coming FMX riders not only with trick and riding tips, but with career guidance as well. Jon O'Brien is a legendary freestyle coach and the founder and director of Wasatch Freestyle. Jon has been coaching for over 30 years and during his time with Wasatch Freestyle he has coached over 20 athletes to the US Ski Team. He has coached Olympic Medalists, World Champions, National Champions and Junior National Champions. He was a USSA Intermountain Team coach, and past Assistant Mogul coach for the US Freestyle Ski Team. Jon was the coach of the British Freestyle Ski Team at the 2002 Winter Olympics and coached the U.S. Jr. Mogul Team at F.I.S. Jr. Worlds. In 2022, he was inducted into YSA Hall of Fame. Wasatch Freestyle has won club of the year 3 times and continues to be one of the premier programs in the US. In this episode we discuss Jon's career and what continues to drive him today.
