!!!Trigger Warning!!! This conversation includes topics such as Spirituality and Vaccine Side-Effects, Atypical applications of Biblical figures, etc… If such. If such topics are upsetting, this episode may not be for you. Listener discretion advised.  This week, it is my privilege to give you my conversation with the magnetic, charismatic, and talented Chaka Malik.    Chaka came up in the NYC of the 1980's. The cultural epicenter of this country, where a confluence of Hip Hop and Hardcore Punk, Graffiti and Skating, Breaking and Slamming, helped usher in the most elemental youth movement touchstones there have ever been.  It was there that he started his seminal Hardcore band, Burn, as well as his 2nd (and equally incredible) band, Orange 9mm. Years pass and after reigniting Burn, he decided to move into his Post-Punk roots with Ghost Decibels.   This is a magical episode. One that delivers on so many levels. Please lend an ear without prejudice. Instagram:@ghost_decibels, @burnnyhc, @orange9mmnyc

Episode 100! I met up with the one and only Chaka Malik... singer for Burn, Orange 9mm and Ghost Decibels. We linked up at Pirate Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to talk about a couple two, three things. We discuss music, shows, and even get a little deep and talk a bit about life and maturity. This was a lot of fun for me to do and an honor to have Chaka on as my guest for Episode 100. Much respect to Chaka and thanks to every single one of you who continue to listen and support this podcast. You are absolutely appreciated!

ON THIS EPISODE A SPECIAL CONVERSATION WITH WALTER SCHREIFELS, CHAKA MALIK, GAVIN VAN VLACK, MARK BEEMER, KEVIN HARE, STEPHEN X WELCH, AND MORE!!     Greetings all, and thanks for joining us for a very special edition of Cinepunx, recorded almost entirely at THIS IS HARDCORE FEST!  This is the first part of our series, the second will post soon. We spoke to so many great people that we needed to break this into a couple episodes. On this episode we start off with an intro, a few folks from the fest, and then an extended conversation mostly with Chaka and Gavin of BURN but with some brief words from Walter Schreifels of GORILLA BISCUITS, QUICKSAND, HANDSOME and many more! As is often the case with our special THIS IS HARDCORE FEST episodes, the audio on this is rough. Your patience is appreciated, and your willingness to put up with all of it is amazing! Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming support we received this weekend. It was powerful and wonderful, and just a reminder of why we do this. Keep your eyes peeled for a second episode soon. Not much in show notes other than that Josh goes on a rant about all these awesome details regarding GREEN ROOM, and before any of you write us yes, we know he got almost all of them wrong. So don’t bother correcting us, we got it covered. THANKS THOUGH!! As usual there are too many people to thank, from the folks at the fest to Freddy Alva, Justin Lore, Wrong Evan, Sean Bennis-Sine, Steven DiLodovico and OG Gavin and all the BSB crew, Grace Kim, The Spina’s, and many many more. Regardless we love you, PLEASE RATE, REVIEW, AND SUBSCRIBE!   The post CINEPUNX Episode 53: THIS IS HARDCORE SPECIAL EPISODE PART 1 appeared first on Cinepunx.

Save It For The Breakdown

Hello Everybody! Welcome to Episode 63 of Save It For The Breakdown! In this episode Gjared and I had the privilege of speaking with Chaka Malik and Gavin Van Vlack of the legendary New York Hardcore band, Burn. They are currently on tour with Bane and Axis. Gjared and I caught the Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio shows. This recording is done in two parts. We spoke with Chaka first and then Gavin. We were also recording this while Axis was doing a soundcheck, so please excuse the background noise. I'd like to thank Gjared for his help putting this interview together, and of course, I want to thank Chaka and Gavin for taking the time to speak with us. Thank you for listening. Enjoy the show.

Even Evan V got in on the action and asked a question! He also took 3 of the pictures above so that is important too.
