How many engagements does it take to land in JB and Sandy's Amazing Book of Records?Tricia's friend Jack calls in with five rings on the board, lake-day walkouts from work, Dallas nightclub magnetism, and a cowboy-only type. Sandy answers with the movie-scene story of her Air Force colonel dad clearing the hotel room on her first wedding day and holding out a passport.Caller Steve nominates himself for most baby mamas, then JB pitches Poplin, the Uber for laundry, until Tricia spots the fatal flaw. Coach Taylor still gives Tricia goosebumps, a Longhorn tailgater ranks food, girls, and beer, and JB would pay to watch two humanoid robots fight. Illinois high school fishing cheerleaders close the hour.If you love The JB and Sandy Show, subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode with a friend who needs a laugh on the way to work.

This week on Drummers on Drumming, I'm bringing back a re-edited 2021 conversation with my friend Anthony Fung. The premise was simple: five-ish records and drummers that might finally get you into jazz. Anthony explains what makes each drummer distinct, from Tony Williams's fearless choices to Roy Haynes's light touch, Elvin Jones's rolling feel, and Billy Higgins's unmistakable swing. We also talk about Anthony's path from discovering drums through Drumline to studying at Berklee and the Herbie Hancock Institute. If jazz has ever felt hard to enter, this episode offers a great place to start. Buenos Aires bassline, Guadalajara hypnosis – we're premiering Pinto's deep, stripped-back take on Javier Ferreira's Mercury… Javier Ferreira built a bassline from mercury and light, Multi-instrument magic from Buenos Aires to the night; He broke the rhythm loose and let it drive, Through peak-time thunder, after-hours haze, A groove gone liquid in a silver blaze, Deep and functional, and somehow still alive. Then Pinto came along, all sampler and swing, Stripped the groove right back till the silence could sing; Guadalajara hands on a Mexican night, He hypnotised Mercury, slowed down the spark, Turned peak-time to prayer in the after-hours dark, On Playground Records, ten September: liftoff flight. Ferreira's Argentinian – Buenos Aires born, Barcelona based – and has been at this fifteen-odd years: DJ, producer, mixing engineer running his own studio, Soundsfera. He co-runs NINEFONT with his brother Gabriel, a hundred-plus releases deep, and has put tracks out everywhere from Suara to Rotten City. DJ Mag LA called him one of Argentina's top five techno DJs back in 2017; these days he's as likely to be found teaching, having co-founded academies in Buenos Aires (Insound) and Barcelona (BesideSchool). Deeper is three originals where deep basslines, broken rhythms and driving house grooves collide – detailed but functional, working just as well at peak time as three hours past it. The remixes pull in two directions: Pinto takes Mercury deeper and darker, stripping the groove back till tension carries the track instead of rhythm; François Del Mundo & Rem's Martinez go the other way on a separate cut, adding a soaring arpeggio and turning it into a straight-up club weapon. Pinto's from Guadalajara – a Bar Américas resident since 2007, founder of the Localafiesta night, part of the Vatos Locos crew, known for running a sampler as an extra mixer channel back when nobody else was bothering. His read on Mercury fits: strip it back, let it hypnotise rather than hit. Mercury (Pinto Remix), below. Deeper is out 10 September on Playground Records, mastered by Submarea Estudio. A Miller hearing is the only thing standing between Timothy Hudson and a life sentence. The 2012 Supreme Court ruling says a judge must examine a juvenile defendant's childhood — mental health, trauma, family environment, rehabilitation potential — before imposing life without parole. To build that examination, the defense needs parents, relatives, and anyone who witnessed the defendant's development. Records tell part of the story. Only a parent can tell the rest.Timothy Hudson's three public defenders have never handled a juvenile federal case. They told Judge Beth Bloom their access to "certain family members" has been blocked by a family dynamic they called "very unfortunate." The filing was deliberately vague. A custody fight between Timothy's biological parents — his mother is married to Anna Kepner's father, making her stepmother to the girl Timothy allegedly killed aboard the Carnival Horizon — exposes the fracture the defense was trying to keep off the page.Shauntel Hudson confirmed under oath that Timothy was taking ADHD and insomnia medication. She confirmed he'd skipped the insomnia meds the two nights on the cruise. FBI Agent del Valle testified that Anna's ex-boyfriend reported Timothy had tried to get into Anna's bed while she slept — months before the trip. Anna allegedly told the ex she was afraid and hesitant to tell her father. Shauntel's own stepmother went on CBS demanding charges against both parents for lack of supervision. The person whose testimony would anchor the Miller case is the same person who'd have to explain what she knew before that cruise and what she chose not to act on.Listen Anywhere You Get Podcasts: https://pod.link/1655749292Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Family research often follows the adults. We search census records, marriage licenses, deeds, probate files, military records, obituaries, and death certificates. Those records are essential, but while the adults were leaving one paper trail, the children in the household were often leaving another. They were going to school. Their names may appear in school censuses, enrollment books, attendance registers, report cards, yearbooks, graduation lists, district records, or school board minutes. If someone in the family taught at a school, served as a principal, or sat on a school board, another set of records may exist. These records can place a family in a specific community in a given year. They may identify parents or guardians, show when children entered or left a district, help separate families with similar names, and sometimes preserve a child who barely appears anywhere else. They can be especially useful between federal census years. A family may have moved, a child may have left home, or a household may have changed in ways that aren't obvious from the records we usually search first. The key is to look beyond the yearbook. Schools created records for many everyday reasons, and some of those ordinary records can provide exactly the clue a family line needs. What did Hackaday editors Elliot Williams and Al Williams read in Hackaday last week? Probably everything, but you can tune in and hear about their favorites on this week's podcast. They heard from lots of listeners this week, and also saw DIY projects running from a 3D-printed Stirling engine, to clogs, to LEDs. There are some over-the-top hacks like a refit for a decades-old watch to do tap-to-pay and a -- for lack of a better word -- a record player that optically reads MOD files. Want to emulate an iPod? Talk to Eliza? Print a hand-operated rail car? Hackaday is the place to read about it all. The can't miss articles included a talk from Hackaday Europe about making magical PCBs and a not-so-brief history of space stations starting in the 1800s. Complete Dentures That Actually Work: Impressions, CR & AdaptationYou don't have to suck at complete dentures — there's a science to them, and an art you gather with experience. Why do complete dentures feel so unpredictable — when a crown prep or an endo doesn't?What's the number-one impression mistake dentists make — and the tissue-conditioning step most of us skip? And when a new denture comes back painful — is it the extension, or the occlusion? This one is a whistle-stop tour of complete dentures with Dr Leif Stromberg — a Dallas general dentist who learned removable prosthodontics directly from the legendary Earl Pound and has taught it for decades. Recently nominated for the Texas AGD's 2026 Texas Dentist of the Year™ Award, Dr. Stromberg brings a wealth of clinical experience, leadership and mentorship to the profession.Rather than drilling into a single appointment, Jaz put a stack of Protrusive Guidance community questions to him and covered the whole arc, from choosing the right patient to troubleshooting a painful denture at delivery. Expect breadth over depth — a lot of ground, a little from each stage — with plenty of technique, nuance and communication tips to take back to the chair.Protrusive Dental Pearl: Pick the Patient Before the DentureYou don't have to treat everyone. Before promising anything, work out whether you can meet the patient's expectations — because you can build the world's best denture and they still may not adapt to it. The single strongest predictor of success is the patient's own adaptation, not the technical quality of the prosthesis. So read the markers of adaptation. The patient who has worn a technically poor, flimsy denture happily for years — and only needs a new one because the old one is worn out — is a home run: improve the retention and stability and they'll do brilliantly, because their neuromuscular adaptation is already proven. The patient who has hated every set they've owned is the warning sign. Assess adaptation right from the first appointment; it matters more than the articulator you own. What You'll Take From This EpisodePick the patient, not just the denture — the markers of adaptation that predict success before you start.Where the teeth actually go — Pound's lingual control lines, and why “lingual” means stable. The number-one impression mistake — coverage versus overextension, plus pre-impression tissue conditioning.Records without the wobble — recording centric relation with a gothic arch tracer, and why the facebow ranks low.A painful denture at delivery — how to tell overextension from occlusal overload, and what to do about each.Highlights of This EpisodeFrom the GuestDr. Stromberg teaches  the fundamentals of predictable complete dentures through a run of CE courses on Dentaltown — a five-part written series and a video series that walk through the exam, impressions, records, try-in and delivery.

They discuss why training records matter more than certifications in court, why everyone trains for the test instead of the job, and what real operational readiness actually looks like. What We Cover:Certification is department CYA, not a measure of reliabilityDetection dogs should have OPERATIONAL standards, not minimum standardsTraining records with proper documentation beat certifications in court every timeWhy observers/supervisors signing off on training matters more than a piece of paperRunning multiple dogs in same area: nasal secretions and saliva contaminate everythingThe "cheat code" dogs use when training mimics certificationHow evaluators inadvertently give away test locations through nonverbal communicationWhy environmental soundness testing is critical (traffic, noise, distractions)The difference between ORT (odor recognition test) and operational readinessLottery-based scenario testing instead of rote certification patternsHandler decision-making: the most untested aspect of any certificationWhy SEAL Teams didn't certify but had real resultsTraining for certification vs. training for the street (these are NOT the same)Real-world deployment: rain, night, roadside traffic stopsHide placement strategy: hide like a criminal, not in filing cabinetsThe handler's job: watch the DOG, not the room ("the nose nose")The avalanche dog that found both victims but failed certificationWhy handlers don't see their dogs during searches (looking for hide locations instead)Apprehension dog certification problems (false sits, stress on one-day tests)Free air sniff legality: roadside delays = searches, not free sniffsInternational perspectives: Norway military working dogs, customs operationsThe problem with "master trainer" guru cultureSupervision and training records as alternative to certificationScenario-based training in real conditions (using cooperating officers)Why some agencies (LAPD) use OJT/FTO model instead of certification gatesThe risk of certification standards creating liability instead of protectionArmin draws on decades of experience working detection dogs internationally, including military operations, customs, search and rescue, and avalanche response. He challenges the industry's comfort with certification-based standards and advocates for documentation, supervision, and scenario-based operational testing.Critical Takeaway: "If you're afraid of rewarding the wrong thing during testing, you're not ready to test. You have a bigger problem than that moment."________________________________________

Ron DeSantis “misappropriated” $10 million in taxpayer money “as part of a sophisticated scheme to fund political activities.” The grand jury broadly laid blame for the Hope Florida scandal with James Uthmeier, the former DeSantis chief of staff who since been appointed attorney general of Florida. It also exposed the hidden role in the affair played by U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody. The grand jury ultimately declined to issue any criminal indictments in part because “nobody will take responsibility” for key decisions. Every genealogist eventually finds one. You follow a family line through the years, finding names, dates, places, and relationships. One record leads to another. You discover where your ancestors lived, who they married, and how their families grew. Then suddenly, the trail ends. An ancestor who should be there seems to disappear. Maybe you find them in one census record but cannot locate them afterward. Perhaps you discover a marriage record but never find a birth record. You may know someone existed because their children named them as a parent, yet finding anything else about that person seems impossible. This is one of the most frustrating moments in genealogy research. Many people assume that if they cannot find a record, the ancestor must be lost forever. But that is not always true. In many cases, the person did not disappear. The records simply did not follow the same path as the records for other family members. Some ancestors left behind hundreds of records. Others left only small pieces of information scattered across different places. Finding those people requires a different way of thinking. Instead of asking, "Where is the missing record?" sometimes we need to ask, "What clues can help me rebuild this person's life?" That change in perspective can open new possibilities... Ted Lieu accused Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche of potentially violating federal law after the Justice Department failed to produce a congressionally required report explaining what Epstein-related records remained withheld from public release. The dispute centered on congressional demands for greater transparency surrounding the government's Jeffrey Epstein files and an apparent requirement that the Justice Department account for materials it had not disclosed. After the report failed to materialize, the lawmaker argued that Blanche and the DOJ were not simply dragging their feet but potentially ignoring a legal obligation imposed by Congress. The accusation added another layer to the growing confrontation between lawmakers and the Justice Department over exactly what Epstein material remained secret, why it remained secret, and who inside the department was making those decisions. The controversy also reinforced suspicions among lawmakers that the government's Epstein disclosures remained incomplete despite repeated promises of transparency. Critics argued that without the missing report, Congress and the public had no meaningful way to determine the scope of the unreleased material or evaluate the Justice Department's justification for continuing to withhold it. Blanche and the department faced mounting pressure to explain whether records were being withheld because of victim privacy, ongoing legal restrictions, investigative concerns or some other reason, while Democrats pushing the issue warned that failure to comply could carry legal consequences. The fight therefore moved beyond another argument over the so-called Epstein files and became a broader question of congressional oversight: whether the Justice Department could be compelled to provide a complete accounting of what it possessed and whether senior officials could face consequences if they refused.to contat me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Lindsay Clancy Trial: 180 Hours of Records Later, a Different Diagnosis Emerges

The prosecution's own rebuttal witness may have handed the defense some of its strongest material yet in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. Forensic psychologist Dr. Kirk Heilbrun testified Monday about the months before Clancy allegedly strangled her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Clancy, 34, faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney Kevin Reddington is arguing severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.Heilbrun began with a lesson in retention bias — the pull toward favoring whoever's paying for the evaluation — then detailed the scope of his own work: about 180 hours combing through police, medical, and court records plus surveillance footage, 10.5 hours testing and meeting with Clancy directly, and 1.5 hours of collateral interviews. His timeline was specific. Limited medical history and mild anxiety before September 2022. Worsening anxiety and depression after October 2022. By December 2022, intrusive and unwelcome thoughts about self-harm and, at times, harming the children — thoughts, he clarified, not hallucinations. Then came the diagnostic contradiction: Heilbrun found no evidence in the records of mania or hypomania consistent with bipolar disorder, even though Tewksbury Hospital had Clancy diagnosed with bipolar disorder for three and a half years. His own conclusion was bipolar II. He closed by outlining the legal insanity standard — mental disease or defect, capacity to know right from wrong, and ability to control conduct. The people who were physically closest to Brittany in her last week sat in interview rooms across five years. We have the tapes. We have the paper the detectives filed afterward. This episode runs on one process: play the tape, read the paper, compare.Part one is the best friend — Ashley. Two chairs, four and a half years apart, and the night nobody ever really asked her about.Brittany Wallace Shank has been missing since November 30, 2018 — Sturgis, Michigan. Nobody heard in this episode has ever been charged with anything connected to her disappearance.Part two — “The Other Chairs, Part 2: You Forwarded a Video” — is out now: the husband's week of texts, and the interview that never asked about any of it.— — —IF YOU KNOW SOMETHINGIf you were in Sturgis in November 2018 — if you knew this circle, or heard something that winter you've been carrying — the line is open.Reach the show: hideandseekpod@yahoo.com · (509) 866-6985Prefer to go straight to law enforcement? On November 30th, 2018, Brittany Wallace Shank said she was almost to her grandma's. She never made it. She was 23. A mother of four. Sturgis, Michigan. For years, her case sat still. Then, in 2023, people started sitting down in the other chairs.A lot of you have asked what happened after we brought what we found to law enforcement. Here's the answer: we gave them everything we saved. All of it. In Part 1, you heard what they did with it — Ashley's interview, and the questions that never got asked.Part 2 is the rest of the chairs. The husband — Eric, across the table from Detective Auton, answering the questions this case has been circling since day one. The drug dealer — the man who says he met Brittany exactly once, and the message thread that says more than he does. The boyfriend. And the third man in the apartment. Plus a phone call I recorded in 2022, a year before detectives caught up — so you can hear one man's story twice, a year apart, and decide for yourself what changed. You'll hear Brittany's own voice in this episode. You'll hear the minute her day stops. And you'll hear me say the thing that should make everyone in St. Joseph County uncomfortable:Eight polygraphs, by the county's own count. Seven years. No one has ever been charged.Somebody forwarded a video. Somebody knows the rest.Play the tape. Read the paper. Compare.Listener discretion advised. Episode 53 of Along for the Ride features KOLE PRICE: 2026 RUN FOR A MILLION CHAMPION, with special guest Taylor Sheridan. There are runs you win, and then there are runs that change the standard. I sat down with Kole to talk about his incredible 237.5 on GOLDEN COINS, what went into that run, and the road that took him from leaving home at 16 to becoming one of the top trainers in our industry. Kole has built his career the hard way...working for great horsemen, putting in the years, building Price Performance Horses with Kelsey, and proving himself at the highest level. Today, he has more than $2.6 million in NRHA earnings and is a two-time Run For A Million Champion. And this one was pretty personal for me. That 237.5 broke the record I had held for 19 years. Records are made to be broken, and watching Kole put together that kind of run on that stage was something special. Taylor Sheridan also joins us to talk about the 2026 Run For A Million, what this event has become, and where he sees our sport going from here. Great horses. Great competition. And a conversation between people who understand exactly what it takes to keep raising the bar. Sponsors Bimeda - Gastrobim.  bimeda.com National Horse Blankets.  nationalhorseblankets.com

In a shocking twist, the latest crime numbers are in, and they're a stark contrast to the narrative we've been hearing from some on the left. According to the FBI, 2025 saw the biggest violent crime drop in 90 years, with a 9.7% decline in the US violent crime rate. But you won't hear this being touted as a success story by those who want to abolish the police and let criminals off the hook. This episode delves into the numbers and the implications of these statistics. The speaker shares a disturbing clip from a New York assemblywoman who's excusing theft as a "crime of poverty," and the consequences of this kind of thinking. We're also discussing the importance of law and order, and how the current trend of defunding the police and releasing criminals back onto the streets is not only misguided but also detrimental to society. The speaker shares some eye-opening stats from the FBI's 2025 report, including a 18.1% drop in murder and a 22.7% drop in motor vehicle theft. But what's behind these numbers, and what does it mean for our communities? The speaker also touches on the role of the Trump administration in bringing crime rates down and the importance of keeping our streets safe. If you're concerned about the direction our country is heading and want to hear more about the facts behind the numbers, tune in to this episode to hear the speaker's take on the latest crime statistics and what they mean for our future.
