What lies beneath the Great Sphinx of Giza—and why does it continue to fuel global obsession? In this episode of The Box of Oddities, Jethro uncovers the strange history, disputed radar scans, ancient legends, and modern controversies surrounding the Sphinx. From Edgar Cayce's “Hall of Records” prophecy to seismic anomalies beneath the limestone, this deep dive explores why some experts insist it's just geology while others believe an untouched vault—or even a lost city—still waits beneath those ancient paws. Then, Kat flips the script on the animal kingdom with a celebration of Earth's rule-breakers—creatures that defy everything we expect from their species. Meet the herbivorous jumping spider, the underwater-breathing diving bell spider, mudskippers that drown in water, axolotls that never grow up, the egg-laying electrified platypus, the “Jesus Christ” lizard that walks on water, the immortal jellyfish, and more. These misfit marvels prove evolution has a wonderfully weird sense of humor. If you love ancient mysteries, bizarre biology, strange science, and the delightfully unexpected, this episode delivers maximum oddity. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On this episode of Carolina Confidential, Gerrell Wheeler is feeling good as the Panthers sweep the Falcons with a 30–27 win in Atlanta—and Bryce Young puts the league on notice.Gerrell breaks down Bryce's record-setting day, as the young QB torches Atlanta for 448 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and breaks Cam Newton's single-game franchise passing mark. He talks about Bryce's poise, his chemistry with Adam Thielen, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and Tommy Tremble, and why this is the version of Bryce Panthers fans have been desperate to see.On the other side of the ball, Gerrell gives Bijan Robinson his flowers after a big first half, then credits the Panthers defense for tightening up when it mattered most. He also zooms out to the NFC South picture—Panthers now 6–5, sitting second in the division—and walks through the brutal upcoming stretch (49ers, Rams, Saints, Bucs, Seahawks) and what Carolina has to do to keep this playoff push alive. It's optimism, realism, and pure Panthers fandom—“it just feels good to be a Panthers fan right now.”

In August 1970, 26-year-old schoolteacher Linda Jane Phillips, daughter of Kaufman County School Superintendent Jimmy Phillips, vanished while driving home from a Dallas wedding party. Two days later, her mutilated body was discovered in a hedgerow near Post Oak, Texas. The case shocked Kaufman County—a quiet, rural community east of booming Dallas—and became one of North Texas's most haunting unsolved murders. Investigators found her car abandoned along Farm Road 1641, its window shattered, her clothing scattered along the roadside for nearly a mile. Despite hundreds of volunteers searching and an intensive investigation led by Sheriff Roy Brockway, no suspect was found.Over the following decade, a wave of similarly brutal killings of women swept across North and East Texas. Lawmen speculated about a single “lust killer” operating around Dallas, connecting Linda's death to others in Garland, Irving, Plano, and Grapevine. Yet no pattern held. Then, in 1984, serial confessor Henry Lee Lucas—already infamous for hundreds of claimed murders—pleaded guilty to Linda's killing. Kaufman County briefly marked the case “cleared.” But Lucas's confession later fell apart. Records showed he was still in Michigan at the time of her death.Fifty-five years later, Linda's murder remains officially unsolved. What endures is the picture of a kind, capable young woman caught between the growing city and the fading quiet of small-town Texas—and a reminder of how easily a search for closure can bury the truth. If you have information about the murder of Linda Jane Phillips, please contact the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office at (972) 932-4337.Sources: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Tyler Morning Telegraph, The San Antonio Express-News, The Odessa American, The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, The Longview Daily News, The McKinney Courier-Gazette, The Austin American-Statesman, The Brownsville Herald, The Mesquite Daily News, and Henry Lee Lucas filesYou can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at https://patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. Tonight on The Redacted Report, we reopen the case file on one of America's most infamous crimes—the 1966 massacre of eight student nurses in Chicago. The world knows the headline: one survivor, one killer, Richard Speck. But the real story didn't make the newspapers, and it never made the documentaries. That story begins here.We trace Speck's path long before the murders, uncovering early psychiatric evaluations, head trauma, and behavioral red flags buried in government archives—warnings ignored until it was far too late. Records from Texas expose a trail of violence against women that mirror the Chicago killings almost exactly, cases that were dismissed or quietly dropped. Maritime logs reveal a pattern of explosive aggression at sea, ignored by a system that kept placing Speck on new ships despite repeated danger. The week before the murders—long treated as an afterthought—comes into focus as a period of planning and preparation. Witnesses reported Speck stalking nurses, drawing layouts of buildings, and meeting with unknown individuals. The crime scene itself tells a story that never reached a jury: signs of earlier tampering, restraints brought in advance, and a timeline that points to a calculated, controlled attack rather than a spontaneous frenzy.Corazon Amurao's survival—heroic and heartbreaking—contains details withheld from the public for decades. She heard Speck speaking casually with the victims. She heard another voice in the townhouse. And years later, she admitted what she'd been urged to conceal: she saw a second set of feet.Even the manhunt and arrest raise questions. Speck was seen calmly sitting outside the townhouse after the murders, visited multiple locations searching for someone, and suddenly had access to money. A forged medical bracelet appeared on his wrist. An anonymous caller with medical knowledge identified him at the hospital. Nothing about his capture fits the official version. The suppressed forensic evidence is equally troubling: multiple unidentified fingerprints, unexplained footprints, a phone call placed from inside the crime scene during the murders, and a controlled drug in Speck's system he should never have had access to.Prison tapes later caught Speck alluding to “the man with the plan,” describing the killings as “the message,” and insisting he wasn't acting alone.Patterns of similar attacks on nurses in other cities, linked locations, coordinated methods, and financial trails all point to a larger, unsettling picture—one the justice system seemed unwilling to confront. Speck may have been the hand, but the question remains: whose hand was guiding him?Richard Speck died in 1991, but the unanswered questions surrounding this case remain locked behind sealed files, suppressed reports, and the memories of those told to stay silent. Tonight, we challenge the official narrative and present the case as the evidence actually shows it.On The Redacted Report, we don't repeat the story they told you.We expose the one they didn't want you to hear.

Often described as the "cosmic library" or "universal database" containing the energetic imprint of every soul's thoughts, actions, emotions, and experiences across lifetimes, the Akashic Records have fascinated mystics, psychics, philosophers, and truth-seekers for centuries. We explore the origins of the Akashic Records, tracing the idea back to ancient Eastern traditions. The Sanskrit word "Akasha," meaning "ether" or "sky," forms the foundation of this spiritual concept: a realm where all information—past, present, and potential future—exists beyond the physical world. Theosophists in the 19th and early 20th centuries expanded the idea, suggesting that gifted individuals could access this dimension to gain knowledge far beyond normal human understanding. Throughout the episode, we dive into what the Akashic Records allegedly contain. Many believers say that every soul has its own "record," documenting past lives, soul contracts, karmic lessons, unresolved traumas, spiritual gifts, and even future possibilities. We examine how modern practitioners claim to access these records using meditation, altered states of consciousness, or guided visualization. Are these practitioners tapping into a higher spiritual plane—or reaching deep into their subconscious mind? As always, we present the phenomena from both mystical and skeptical viewpoints, giving listeners the space to draw their own conclusions. We also share compelling stories and reported encounters from individuals who say they have accessed their records. Some describe receiving healing messages, seeing vivid scenes from past lives, or feeling overwhelming waves of peace and understanding. Others report encountering guides, ancestors, or beings of light who help interpret what they see. These accounts raise intriguing questions: Are these genuine spiritual experiences, symbolic visions, or manifestations of the psyche? From a paranormal perspective, the Akashic Records intersect with many themes we've covered on the podcast—past-life memories, near-death experiences, mediumship, psychic awakening, and the concept of a collective consciousness. We explore how these ideas may connect and whether the Records could serve as the mechanism behind mysterious human experiences such as déjà vu, profound intuition, or sudden unexplainable knowledge. As always, we bring the conversation home with thought-provoking analysis. Could the Akashic Records be real? If they exist, what does that mean about the nature of reality, the soul, and the interconnectedness of all living beings? And if they are simply metaphorical or psychological, why do so many people across cultures feel drawn to this idea? A Basic Method for Accessing the Akashic Records 1. Set a Clear Intention The Akashic tradition teaches that your intention is your key. Before you begin, sit quietly and think about why you want to access the Records. Examples: "I want clarity about my purpose." "I want insight into past patterns." "I am seeking healing or guidance." Say your intention silently or out loud. This focuses your awareness on a higher state of consciousness. 2. Create a Calm Environment Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed. Dim lights, sit comfortably, and take several deep breaths. Your mind should feel calm but alert. Some people like to: Light a candle Play soft ambient or meditation music Hold a crystal or object that helps them focus Not required—just personal preference. 3. Ground Your Energy Take 5–10 slow breaths. Imagine your breath dropping down into your body, relaxing your feet, legs, torso, arms, and head. Some visualize roots growing from their feet into the earth. This helps stabilize your energy before trying to reach upward. 4. Use a Gateway Meditation Here is a simple visualization: Close your eyes. Imagine a beautiful staircase or pathway leading upward. At the top is a door or bright energetic field. This symbolizes the entrance to the Records. Walk toward the door slowly in your mind. When you reach it, imagine a librarian, guide, or guardian greeting you. Ask silently: "May I access my Akashic Records?" If the answer feels like a yes (calm, open, expanding feeling), proceed. If it feels like a no (tension, discomfort), stop and try another day. 5. Ask a Clear Question Once "inside," hold your intention and ask one question at a time. Examples: "What soul lesson am I learning right now?" "What pattern should I release?" "What is my next step for growth?" "What past life influences my present challenge?" Pay attention to what comes through: Images Words Feelings Memories Sudden realizations The Records rarely appear like a literal library—most people receive symbolic or intuitive impressions. 6. Receive Without Judgment Don't force anything. If nothing happens at first, that's normal. Many people need practice. If something does come through, simply observe: What emotion accompanies it? Does it feel wise, peaceful, or expansive? Does it help you understand your life better? This is the core of the experience. 7. Thank the Records and Close the Door Before ending, always close respectfully. Visualize the Records fading or the door gently closing. Take a few breaths and ground yourself again. This helps prevent lingering emotional or energetic openness. A Few Helpful Tips Consistency matters—people improve with repeated sessions. Keep a journal to track what you experience. Never attempt a session while emotional, tired, or unfocused. Treat the Records like a sacred or deep psychological space. Join us for a deep and fascinating discussion as we open the metaphorical doors to the universe's library—exploring the mysteries, myths, and possible truths behind the Akashic Records. In this two-part episode series of The Rumors Are True podcast, host Jeremy Gould welcomes all four members of Dighayzoose — Bil Brown, Dave Anderson, Jimmi Florez, and Phil Schlotterer — for an in-depth and entertaining conversation about one of the most inventive and fearless bands to come out of the early '90s alternative scene.Across both episodes, the band reflects on their origins in Kansas City, their time on R.E.X. Records, and the creative chaos that fueled albums like StruggleFish and MagentaMantaLoveTree. They share behind-the-scenes stories from recording sessions and touring days, exploring how their genre-bending blend of funk, punk, rock, and art-school experimentation set them apart from their peers. The discussion also dives into their spiritual and artistic philosophies, the dynamics between band members, and the legacy of Dighayzoose's wild, uncompromising vision. For over two decades, Anna Logue Records has been a beacon for those who understand that the early 1980s represented a golden age of electronic music – a brief, brilliant window when artists armed with synthesisers, drum machines, and raw creative vision crafted something genuinely revolutionary. Founded in 2005 by a collector-turned-curator who spent the mid-90s buried in the minimal synth scene, swapping tapes and haunting eBay for privately pressed 7″s and forgotten cassettes, the label emerged from a simple desire to rescue and celebrate the melancholic yet melodic treasures that deserved far better than wanton abandonment and obscurity. We're happy to admit our ignorance of the label until being alerted via the reissue of Join The Car Crash Set. But having been turned on via that channel we delved deeper… a lot deeper. 0000428969_100 What began with Camera Obscura's debut vinyl LP (through three problematic pressing rounds) has blossomed into a catalogue that honours both the artists of yesteryear and into the contemporary that are keeping the analogue flame alive. The label's ethos is refreshingly purist – this is music made before the digital age smoothed off all those beautifully rough edges and that bleakness when electronics were raw and honest. Anna Logue Records isn't part of the ‘music industry' – it exists in deliberate opposition to it. Non-exclusive agreements respecting artists' autonomy, every release is treated as art or memorabilia rather than product, lovingly designed with original band materials, lyrics, photos, and the meticulous attention of someone who still remembers receiving multiple parcels a day in pursuit of the perfect sound. Sister label Nadanna (a playful portmanteau of founders “Mr. Nader” and “Mr. Anna”) extends the mission into contemporary territory, releasing danceable works that blur the lines between minimal synth, Italo disco, and Electropop. Together, they form a small but vital operation – self-financing, fiercely independent, and still run by that same collector was too busy discovering bottomless pits of forgotten electronic to pay too much attention at college. The mix you're about to hear traces the label's journey in reverse, alternating between Anna Logue and Nadanna releases, from timeless classics like League of Nations' “Fade” to previews of what's next. It includes what the label's founder calls “the perfect electronic pop song” (Blipblop's “Ögat som ser”), features a performance from Rational Youth's Tracy Howe on Techniques Berlin's “Cold War”, and closes with the achingly beautiful “Zara In The Stars” – written by Quieter Than Spiders' Leon Zhang in memory of a beloved dog at a sanctuary, a reminder that these endeavours carry real meaning beyond the music. Twenty years in, with projects like Delayscape's double album and new Twins Natalia material still in the pipeline, Anna Logue Records continues doing what it's always done; unveiling music that should be heard, released with passion by people who genuinely love it, for those who understand that sometimes, the best technology is the one that came before everything got polished to death. Cash Over €10,000 Becoming "Illegal Tender" in January 2027 What's true: Starting in summer 2027 (not precisely January), there will be an EU-wide limit on cash payments for goods and services: no more than €10,000 per transaction (or linked transactions). This applies across all 27 member states, though countries can set lower thresholds if they want (e.g., some already have limits around €1,000–€3,000). The goal is to curb illicit cash flows used for crime. What's false: Cash itself doesn't become "illegal tender"—you can still hold unlimited euros in cash, withdraw it from banks, or use it for smaller payments without issue. The restriction is only on using cash to pay for things above the limit (e.g., you couldn't buy a €15,000 car in cash without switching to wire transfer or card). Violators face fines or penalties, but it's not a blanket criminalization of cash holdings. This builds on existing rules but standardizes them EU-wide for the first time. 2. Every Bitcoin Needing "Government Permission" What's true: The rules ban anonymous crypto-asset accounts or wallets held through service providers (e.g., exchanges like Binance). Crypto firms must perform customer due diligence (CDD)—verifying identities—for any accounts they manage, similar to how banks already handle fiat accounts. Privacy-focused coins (e.g., Monero, Zcash) and unhosted (self-custodied) wallets face extra scrutiny if used for high-risk activities, and anonymous services will be prohibited. What's false: There's no requirement for "government permission" to own or transfer individual Bitcoins (or any crypto). You can still hold Bitcoin in a personal wallet, mine it, or peer-to-peer trade it without approval, as long as it's not through a regulated service that demands KYC (know-your-customer) checks. This ties into the broader Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation (effective 2024–2026), which licenses crypto platforms but doesn't micromanage personal holdings. The "permission" angle misrepresents standard AML checks, which apply to businesses handling crypto, not everyday users. 3. Every Transaction Becoming a "Datapoint in Brussels' Surveillance Grid" What's true: Financial institutions (banks, payment providers, crypto exchanges) must report suspicious transactions to national Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), which share data via a new EU-level Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) based in Frankfurt (not Brussels). CDD kicks in for occasional transactions over €10,000, and high-risk activities (e.g., complex/large transfers) get extra monitoring. Records must be kept for 5 years. What's false: Not every transaction is tracked or reported—only suspicious ones, high-value occasional deals, or those flagged under risk-based rules. Everyday purchases (e.g.,
Spacefaring News: NASA, SpaceX Records, and Global Space Issues. Bob Zimmerman reports on the renomination of Jared Isaacman as NASA administrator following a previous withdrawal. SpaceX is setting new launch records, aiming for close to 180 launches this year, though an FAA launch curfew might jeopardize this prediction.
