On this month's episode we welcome Greg Brandt, Eric Altman & Collin Kirkpatterson of Iron Goat Brewing here in Spokane, Washington. Iron Goat is certainly one of the larger craft breweries in Spokane, having established their first operation in 2012. Greg tells us about his brewing history, how they came to open their brewery, and what he and their team thinks the future holds for the brewing community in Spokane and the Inland Northwest. As always we have your host, Chris Cindric, and Dave Basaraba & Tim Hilton of Mountain Lakes Brewing Company — as well as audience contestants to play games and win prizes!
During this session Greg Brandt and Liyin Tang, Data Infrastructure engineers from Airbnb, will discuss the design and architecture of Airbnb's streaming ETL infrastructure, which exports data from RDS for MySQL and DynamoDB into Airbnb's data warehouse, using a system called SpinalTap. We will also discuss how we leverage Spark Streaming to compute derived data from tracking topics and/or database tables, and HBase to provide immediate data access and generate cleanly time-partitioned Hive tables.
Much has changed since host Adam Boyd last interviewed the two Iron Goat head brewers, Greg Brandt and Paul Edminster. For this week's episode of "Good Brews", Boyd sits down with Brandt and Edminster to discuss their new brewery and taproom location, the challenges that come with moving a brewery, and about navigating business growth within the brewing industry.
