What happens when four decades of heavy drinking suddenly stops? Ali Burke returns to share her remarkable transformation from a self-described "party pisshead parent" to a woman fully embracing authentic connection and present parenting.Ali's drinking story began in her early teens, looking for courage, attention, and a way to fit in. As the youngest of seven children, alcohol became her tool for becoming "the funny one." This evolved into a forty-year relationship with alcohol that saw her drinking moonshine vodka by the litre, losing her driver's license three times, and prioritizing drinking over driving her teenage daughter home safely. The turning point came after a deep hypnosis session and one final regretful wedding experience. What Ali calls her "spontaneous sobriety" has now lasted nearly four years, completely transforming every aspect of her life. Most significantly, she's rebuilt her relationship with her daughter, who once had to parent her drinking mother but now has a present, reliable parent she can count on.Our conversation takes a joyful turn as we reflect on how we met at a sober retreat in Phuket, where we discovered the authentic connections possible without alcohol. The genuine laughter, dancing, and friendship we found proved that sobriety doesn't mean the end of fun – it marks the beginning of more meaningful experiences and "sore tummy muscles from laughing so much."Ali shares exciting news about our upcoming podcast venture "Laughs Without Lager," where we'll continue sharing honest stories to help others seeking freedom from alcohol. Her journey demonstrates that even after decades of drinking, transformation is possible, and the rewards of clarity and authentic connection far outweigh anything alcohol seemingly offered.Whether you're sober curious, taking a break, or committed to alcohol-free living, this conversation offers both hope and practical insights from someone who's walked the challenging but ultimately liberating path to freedom.Ali Burke: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/idontdrinkfullstop/Podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2470602 MEGWeb: https://www.meganwebb.com.au/Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/meganwebbcoaching/ Unwined Bookclub: https://www.alcoholfreedom.com.au/unwinedbookclub ConnectAF group coaching: https://www.elizaparkinson.com/groupcoaching BELLAWeb: https://isabellaferguson.com.auInsta: @alcoholcounsellorisabellaBi-Yearly 6-Week Small Group Challenges: Learn more: https://www.isabellaferguson.com.au/feb-2025-challengeFree Do I Have A Drinking Problem 3 x Video Series: https://resources.isabellaferguson.com.au/offers/JTFFgjJL/checkoutFree HOW DO I STOP DRINKING SO MUCH Masterclass: https://resources.isabellaferguson.com.au/offers/7fvkb3FF/checkoutOnline Alcohol Self-Paced Course: https://resources.isabellaferguson.com.au/offers/fDzcyvWL/checkout...

Since cannabis has become legal in many states, people are using it in new ways, especially in the drinks space. But what's the right way to do that? How do breweries, drinkers and mixologists deal with the legal ramifications, the oversight, and the actual flavors and aromas of THC? On this episode of the All About Beer podcast, we talk with Warren Bobrow, a mixologist and author, who pushes the envelope in terms of what cannabis can do in drinks. Then Samantha Lee of Hopewell Brewing in Chicago talks about making a brand extension - Choom - into THC seltzers and their experience into a world beyond beer. This Episode is Sponsored by:RahrBSGNeed ingredients and supplies that deliver consistent, high-quality beer? In this episode, we conclude our journey through the book of Titus with a powerful reminder: salvation isn't just about being saved from something—it's about being saved for something. Titus 3 calls every believer to live a life that reflects the miracle of regeneration. We explore two major themes:Our New Birth Must Lead to a New Life – Paul highlights that good works are not the root of salvation but the fruit of it. We've been washed, renewed, and filled with the Spirit so that we might walk in obedience, humility, and purpose. From the mess of our past to the mercy of God, we're reminded that the Christian life is marked by transformation, not stagnation.Discipleship and Discipline Go Hand in Hand – Healthy churches aren't afraid to confront sin. Paul instructs Titus to avoid foolish controversies and deal directly with divisive people. Church discipline, done in love and truth, protects the body and promotes growth. At the same time, ministry continues with generosity and partnership—every believer is called to engage in good works and support the mission.Key Takeaways:Regeneration is God's work, producing a radically new life.Good works are essential for gospel witness, not for earning salvation.Church discipline is necessary for maintaining purity and unity.Grace empowers us to live holy, faithful, and fruitful lives. This final chapter reminds us that doctrine must shape our discipleship, and that grace must fuel our good works. Regeneration is not just theology—it's the beginning of a transformed, Christ-exalting life.

Send us a textIn the NFL the Dallas Cowboys are seen as a marquee franchise with an extensive history in the NFL. They achieved glory in the 1970's and became a dynasty in the 90's. Yet for the 1980's the decade in between the Cowboys fell off and the decade ended with the firing of legendary Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry. Yet, in the Parallel Gridiron there is a world in where the Cowboys dynasty assembled in the 80's instead of the 90's. Don't tell Jean-Phillippe Lalonde of Silo (https://bieresilo.com) that craft lager is a “new” trend—he's been brewing small batches for Montreal drinkers for nearly 15 years. Opened two weeks before COVID shutdowns in 2020, Silo is the second manifestation of Lalonde's brewing vision. Designed with packaging in mind, Silo also includes some thoughtful choices (such as a direct-fire kettle) that are budget-friendly while supporting the kinds of lagers he loves to make and drink—expressive ones with fullness and flavor. With lagers inspired by Franconia and Plzeň, altbier and Kölsch inspired by Köln and Düsseldorf, and a mindest that doesn't fear regional tweaks such as North American hops and grain, Lalonde views innovation within the broad confines of tradition. For him, late hopping a Czech-style pale lager is okay... but dry hopping is a bridge too far. In this episode, Lalonde discusses: the dream of building a brewery with just one beer building fullness with protein, hot mashes, long boils, and a little bit of help from specialty malt incorporating North American hops such as Crystal into traditional lager using a pseudo-decoction technique to build additional body balancing sweetness and bitterness in fulsome lagers using low-alpha hops across multiple points in the boil, from 75 minutes to zero managing sulfur production And more. Before diving into the terrible news of increasing tariffs on the aluminum needed to make our beer cans we "review" the Miller & Pringles collaboration chips we talked about a while back. Are they good? Do they taste like beer can chicken and beer brats? Find out!Nate gives us a style profile on American Cream Ale. We're fans, and there's more out there than you might realize. Coffee versions are especially tasty. In some surprising news, or maybe note, Non-Alcoholic beer is poised to surpass Ale as the 2nd largest beer category. As beer nerds we get into a lot of ales but, around the globe, Lager still dominates - by a lot.Another loss for the beer community this week with the passing of esteemed writer Martyn Cornell. Through blogs, articles, and books Cornell educated many on beer and debunked some popular myths on the origins of certain beers. We've got a very small update on Anchor Brewing. We're rolling into June with another episode of Good, but not the best... a Dancing Gnome podcast. We knew we had a pretty loaded episode for this month, so to kick things off, we take a quick Look Ahead at what's to come in the world of Dancing Gnome before taking a Look Back at a busy May. First, Andrew recaps "Lustra Day" weekend, including a discussion on Barrel Lustra, the different casks variants, Lustra water, and more. Then we talk about the MBCC festival in Copenhagen, which was attended by DG family members Matt and Brett. That discussion rolls into the start of our second segment as Matt talks about his experience in Copenhagen. Next, we talk with Aaron about his trip to the Czech Republic! This was the same trip that Matt and Andrew took last year to learn about Czech brewing, service, etc. (Check out the May 2024 episode if you missed it.) We finish out the show by playing a round of Lager vs Logger and a quick Watch, Listen, Learn. Thanks for listening!Intro/Outro music by: Kabbalistic VillageBreak music by: Kevin MacLeod
