In this episode of The Living Artist podcast, Preston plays with the concept of time on many levels, and encourages us to shift our perspective through a unique thought experiment. This episode builds off of a previous episode on "Future Casting" and is highly inspired by an idea and concept presented by Bryan Johnson. Preston takes this idea and synthesizes it down into the context of art and growth. We hope that you will get something out of this episode and that it can help you to expand your own mindset and creativity as an artist. Enjoy! For more information on Preston M. As someone who was pretty much out of the game for many years, Chandler McClure resurrected his wrestling career in 2025 and now is an integral part of POWW Entertainment. McClure joined Windy City Slam for the first time to discuss his comeback, his role alongside Will Emory, his rivalry with Mason Percs, the quirky POWW Championship match he will be involved in at Summer Xplosion, his friendship with Eric Priest and time with working with him at IWA Mid-South and the early years of AAW Pro, his brief re-emergence at Kaiju Attack Wrestling several years ago and more. Plus, Mike gives opinions on the battle of El Grande Americanos and WWE Clash In Italy, recaps highlights from 2econd Wrestling and previews shows from POWW, Warrior Wrestling and GALLI Lucha Libre. Mike Pankow is a 25-year-plus professional journalist and wrestling superfan who covers local Chicagoland wrestling and national promotions like AEW and WWE. Syphilis is often thought of as a disease from the historic literature, but in August last year, it was declared a Communicable Disease Incident of National Significance by Australia's Chief Medical Officer. Case numbers have grown year on year since it became a notifiable disease in 2004, peaking at around six and a half thousand in 2023. Syphilis is sometimes described as ‘the great imitator' because it can have so many different presentations. And it can hide away for years before revealing itself in one system of the body or other. In this podcast we'll go over the neurologic, ophthalmic and nephrotic symptoms that can eventuate, and also some worrying examples of congenital transmission seen today. Today's podcast will expand your library of differential diagnoses and give you confidence to go down the pathway of testing, treatment and contact tracing. Cosby returns to the pod this week for a delightful episode Gen Xers in particular will love. Listen in as we wax nostalgic, nerdy, & philosophical about the American independent film scene, video stores, actors with faces, Sundance, the New Queer Cinema movement, & iconoclastic filmmakers of the 1990s. We started with groundbreaking director Gregg Araki's TEEN APOCALYPSE TRILOGY, then went everywhere, & obviously, fittingly, NOWHERE. The three main films in the trilogy that we discuss are TOTALLY F***ED UP, THE DOOM GENERATION, and NOWHERE, but we bring in myriad other films, directors, and actors from this terrific era that valued original voices and stories that no one else could tell.Orginally Posted on Patreon (5/14/26) here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/158267662Donate to the Pod via Ko-fi & PayPal Shop Watch With Jen logo Merchandise in Logo Designer Kate Gabrielle's Threadless ShopTheme Music: Solo Acoustic Guitar by Jason Shaw, Free Music Archive
In this episode of The Living Artist podcast, Preston talks about filtering out some of the advice and stories from influencers, celebrities and content creators, to help us get back to basics and get real with our own strategies. Sometimes what one of these creators is telling us to do might not fit our own lifestyle, career path, or developmental stage. Truth be told, it most likely won't even fit what was authentic for the creator themselves when they were starting out, or in a different stage of life. New Zealand Wrap Inside Supercars wraps up the New Zealand swing with Tony Whitlock and James McCabe unpacking two weekends that delivered both spectacle and substance across Taupo and Christchurch. The headline out of Ruapuna was Broc Feeney's glowing assessment of the old school circuit, praising the revamped layout, tighter margins, and the return of real consequences when drivers pushed beyond the limit. With Supercars committing to Christchurch for at least three years, the pair explore how the Canterbury Car Club's planned upgrades from permanent garages to expanded safety infrastructure signal a long term future for the event. They also reflect on how the Kiwi fans once again elevated the atmosphere, turning Ruapuna into a genuine Supercars cauldron. Across the Tasman double, Tony and James break down the competitive picture as the championship tightens. Feeney leaves New Zealand with momentum and the points lead, while Brodie Kostecki, Matt Payne, and Cam Waters each showed flashes that hint at a wide open title fight. Passing was at a premium at Ruapuna, tyre life became a strategic weapon, and pit lane execution proved decisive all themes the team dives into as they assess who maximised the trip and who will be searching for answers before the series returns to Australia. It's a full, insightful wrap of a New Zealand campaign that reshaped the early season narrative and reminded everyone why 2026 is already one of the most compelling Supercars seasons in years. Straight from the pages of today's New York Times, Watch With Jen's first podcast guest, author Jordan Harper, returns ahead of the release of his fittingly titled new thriller, A VIOLENT MASTERPIECE. A devotee of Japanese cinema, food, and culture, Jordan gives me a crash course in the cinema of director Juzo Itami. An all-time "wife guy," who began making movies in his early fifties and made 11, which starred his incredibly expressive wife, Nobuko Miyamoto, Juzo Itami's life and career are discussed, along with the movies SUPERMARKET WOMAN, TAMPOPO, and MINBO: THE GENTLE ART OF JAPANESE EXTORTION.Be sure to pick up A VIOLENT MASTERPIECE in your favorite indie bookstore, and if you're interested in learning more, you can tune in to watch me interview Jordan on Wednesday, April 29, at 5:00 PM PST on behalf of Poisoned Pen Bookstore.Donate to the Pod via Ko-fi & PayPal Shop Watch With Jen logo Merchandise in Logo Designer Kate Gabrielle's Threadless ShopTheme Music: Solo Acoustic Guitar by Jason Shaw, Free Music ArchiveOriginally Posted on Patreon (4/26/26) here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/156607489

In this episode of The Living Artist podcast, Preston builds an entire episode from the expression "Garbage In, Garbage Out". This turns out to be a very important concept for us artists (and anyone for that matter). Have you heard the expression "you are what you eat"? Well garbage in, garbage out turns out to be just as important, or even more so for our art and mindset. Preston gives many examples of this in our lives, mentality and art quality. We hope that you will be inspired to cut out some "garbage" in your own world to improve everything in your life and art. Can we get a scream? Enjoy! For more information on Preston M. In this episode of The Living Artist podcast, Preston talks about the omnipresent "Attention Economy" and all of its many iterations. What is it, and how is it negatively affecting us and our art? Is there even a way to use it to our advantage? Preston talks about a good strategy being to always shoot for authenticity in everything that we do. Recently on the pod, I reunited with the gifted arts journalist Candice Frederick, one of my oldest friends from the early days of Film Twitter. Candice was one of the first guests I ever had on Watch With Jen, and we had a ball logging on to discuss some of the best and most under-discussed coming-of-age movies of the past 40+ years, including those we first saw as adults in our early 40s. While initially we were going to focus on RUNNING ON EMPTY, PARIAH, and JUNO, we wound up having a breezy, sunny, nostalgic, and introspective chat about a wide range of movies and cultural figures that defined our generation, including River Phoenix and John Hughes. It's ideal for Spring!Bio: Candice Frederick is a talented culture journalist for hire. She was formerly the Senior Culture Reporter at HuffPost. Other bylines include The Daily Beast, Time, History.com, New York Times, Bloomberg, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar, and many others.Originally Posted on Patreon (4/11/26) here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/155361805Donate to the Pod via Ko-fi & PayPal Shop Watch With Jen logo Merchandise in Logo Designer Kate Gabrielle's Threadless ShopTheme Music: Solo Acoustic Guitar by Jason Shaw, Free Music Archive

In honor of that time I went on an Easter Egg Hunt as a toddler in 1984 and had no luck, I'm giving everyone this Easter egg of an episode a day early. Hope you and yours have a safe, happy, healthy, and lovely weekend full of good movies and great memories. This week, I'm honored to bring back one of my oldest Film Twitter buddies, the great Brian Saur, who I've known and collaborated with on various projects for over sixteen years, from the blog Rupert Pupkin Speaks to DVD Netflix to pods. Gifting us with an inventive trio of forgotten film noir titles he discovered on his incredible Pure Cinema and Just the Discs podcasts, in this entertaining discussion, we cover THE POWER OF THE WHISTLER (1945), ROAD HOUSE (1948), and SHAKEDOWN (1950), and other unsung B-movie goodies you'll treasure as a cinephile.Bio: Brian Saur is the co-host of the Pure Cinema Podcast, a long-running film podcast he hosts alongside Elric Kane. As the official podcast of the New Beverly Cinema, the show has spent the past nine years exploring cult and classic films, with a particular emphasis on uncovering hidden, off-the-beaten-path gems. Over the years, it has featured high-profile guests such as Quentin Tarantino, Sean Baker, Rian Johnson, Edgar Wright, Patton Oswalt, Larry Karaszewski, and Dan Waters. At its core, the podcast aims to recreate the experience of walking into a video store and getting personalized movie recommendations from the knowledgeable staff behind the counter. Here at The Living Artist podcast, we figured it would be a nice juxtaposition to the illness that Preston is battling, to do a fun throwback to some highlights of YouTube videos over the years. There is something in here for everyone. Whether you are looking for fun, funny, inspirational, emotional, experimental, musical, practical, or just plain stupid, we have got you covered with this episode! All audio is taken from video footage shot, conceived, directed, edited and performed by Preston, other than the beginning segment, which was shot and edited by Marc Yellin, and audio from the short documentary on Preston called "Negativity to Creativity", directed and edited by Tony Lugo.
