Darth Maul has returned!

The Blooming Court Ch. 9We start with the group after their encounter with Shankise and his grim warning. The group meets to decide how to move forward, and Zechs suggests rushing through to widen the gap between the party and their overseers. The idea being that if they can widen the gap, it would give them time to reach Glad's boon and go the long way around the treants to avoid it without raising too much suspicion. It's not an impossible idea, though it wouldn't be easy by any means, as the group will be running at full speed with Zechs leading the way and the group following closely in tow. While it happened as planned, we encountered minor difficulties that could have become major hurdles without the group's teamwork.Upon finishing their trek, they find a camp and ask Hoshino to provide a haven for the night so they can rest in peace, given the environment and their previous encounters. It's not quite as lavish as their last stay in the Magnificent Mansion, but it's far better than the alternative, and for that, they're grateful. After some food, conversation, and rest, we see Glad in a dream where she is shown the location of The Daughter of the Vine. The morning comes, and with a full night of stressless sleep, the party feels a wave of exhaustion lifted for them. With everyone but Shanks downstairs for breakfast, Zechs takes it upon himself to check in on him. To no one's surprise, he's been burning the midnight oil and has been tinkering with some of the tools in his kit. First showing Zechs the dismantled "bombs away" and telling Duo he's made him a frag grenade he can take into combat in the future. This gets Zechs' wheels turning, and he informs Shanks that he'll work with him and Salix on some new toys moving forward. After a brief discussion on death, morality, and the judgment of the many for the sins of some, they move forward with the plan to have Shanks scout. While the next leg of the journey isn't a sprint, as it was the previous day, it is still quite the trek, and the land is showing its feywild nature with every step. There are some combined efforts of stealth and utilizing everyone's kits to help them traverse the terrain, and it shows just how far the group has come, not only individually but as a team as well. All this gets them through the treants' area and to the supposed location of the temple. Eventually coming up to a lake with water that almost looks like glass, still and serene. The group takes the time to rest and gather themselves. The Serpent's Strait Ch. 11We open with a bar brawl that ends quickly and decisively, leaving most of the patrons unconscious. Using his booming voice, Thorak, still disguised as Snorak, restores order before dragging the one of the instigators outside for questioning. The man admits he was sent, along with others, to eliminate the party on Blackburn's orders. But the interrogation is interrupted when a mysterious figure emerges from the alley, asking how the party can seemingly exist in two places at once. The stranger reveals himself to be Hanith Blackburn, who explains that his sister was likely behind the assassination attempt. After a tense but oddly conversational exchange, Hanith casually kills the would-be assassin by crushing his windpipe via telekinesis, leaving the party unsettled by his detached curiosity and apparent indifference to his family's actions.Shaken but focused, the group regathers and finalizes the plan for Operation Boomstick before their past selves arrive in town. Bob takes center stage with an elaborate performance designed to draw exactly the attention they need. The performance succeeds, catching the Priest of the King in Yellow off guard. The Priest follows the Bard to the location that the group set up. As they lure him to the spot he needs to be, the priest casts Web, briefly trapping Bob as he attempts to flee, but Bob is quickly freed. Elizabeth restrains the warforged priest just as Thorak shouts for everyone to run, hurling a flaming javelin into the planted andrite. Gregg is an independent researcher, writer and music producer from the UK who focuses on esotericism and occultism alongside media and literature theory, cyberculture, fictioning, and non-standard philosophy. He graduated an MA in Spirituality and Religion from University of Amsterdam in 2025 and is currently working on expanding his thesis research into a PhD project. In this episode, Gregg peels back the layers of the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit, or CCRU, a group that stands as one of the most unique and enigmatic forms of modern occultism.  Using a "matryoshka doll" methodology, we look briefly at the core members of the group, and then explore the CCRU as a collective myth and an independent entity. We'll trace their origins from the intellectual split between Sadie Plant's cyberfeminism and Nick Land's "dark" inhumanism, fueled by the rhythmic, non-linear influences of the 1990s jungle dance scene. We discuss "Time Sorcery," the Numogram, and the mechanics of hyperstition—the process by which fictions "make themselves real" through cybernetic feedback loops to reshape our present reality.  To explain this concept a bit further, the core of Gregg's thesis focuses on "Hyperstition as the idea of fictions that make themselves real by functioning as "time-circuits" or self-fulfilling prophecies. Gregg illustrates how the CCRU's use of "theory-fiction" was not merely a literary style, but a deliberate "writing magic" designed to bypass rational thought and manifest "inhuman" entities or future outcomes into the present. Ultimately, the work positions the CCRU as a unique bridge between 20th-century esoteric practices (like Chaos Magic) and the digital-age occultism of the 21st century, suggesting that the group's influence persists today as a collective entity or "egregore" that continues to shape contemporary culture and philosophy.  For Patreon and YouTube members, we dive even deeper into the controversial legacy of Nick Land in Part 2, re-evaluating him not just as a philosopher, but as an experimental occultist who used extreme methods to achieve ego-dissolution.
