Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy one to those who send him.”** – Proverbs 10:26 (NASB) When Laziness Becomes a Liability*** Most of us have experienced irritation that lingers: – Smoke burning your eyes – Sour vinegar shocking your teeth Solomon compares laziness to these two deeply uncomfortable sensations. This is not mild annoyance. This is painful frustration. God is showing us that laziness doesn't just hurt the lazy person — **it hurts everyone connected to them. The lazy Dad hurts his wife, his kids, his boss and his own psyche… Laziness is not a personal weakness — it is a communal burden. 1. The Cultural Meaning of Vinegar and Smoke** Vinegar to the Teeth In the ancient world, vinegar was cheap, acidic wine. If you expected refreshing grape juice and received sour vinegar instead, your mouth would recoil. It shocks. It irritates. It disappoints. Smoke to the Eyes Smoke was a daily irritation in ancient homes. Cooking fires filled small houses, burning eyes, blurring vision, causing tears and coughing. Smoke disorients. Smoke blinds. Smoke frustrates. together, these metaphors paint a picture: Laziness creates irritation, disappointment, confusion, and emotional strain. 2. The Problem Isn't Slowness — It's Unfaithfulness** The proverb says: “So is the lazy one **to those who send him.” This isn't about personal motivation. This is about assignment, responsibility, and trust. The lazy person: * Was sent with a purpose * Was trusted with a task * Was expected to deliver But instead: * They delay * They deflect * They disappoint They act drained… but its only those around them that are truly drained due to their behavior. Biblical Insight: Laziness is not neutral. It is unfaithfulness with delegated authority. - ITS DOING NOTHING AT ALL THE WHILE GIVEN THE POWER AND THE PRIVILEGE TO DO IT. Jesus echoed this principle in **Matthew 25 (Parable of the Talents)** — the servant who buried his responsibility was not rebuked for inability, but for slothfulness and fear.
Audiovisual ➡️ fanlink.tv/Y0UTUBE Tracklisting ➡️ soon.. Warm, smooth, and slightly unexpected — Mathilde Nordberg's 'Frangelico Sour 'sets the mood for this episode. Hazelnut liqueur meets fresh lemon and lime, shaken to a creamy foam that balances sweetness with sharp citrus bite. It's round, nutty, and refreshing at once, a refined twist on a classic sour. That layered elegance mirrors Mathilde's sound: intimate yet vibrant, soft in texture but grounded in groove. Moving between Melodic and Afro House, Mathilde blends organic depth with club-ready energy. As a producer, songwriter, and DJ, she records her own cello, piano, and vocal samples, weaving acoustic warmth into electronic precision. Released on labels like Unreleased Records, Ki Records, and Didschn, her music carries analog soul with modern drive. This mix flows just like the cocktail: smooth at first sip, then alive with subtle tension and lift. Grooving, emotive, and effortlessly moving, it features many of Mathilde's own productions, offering a deep dive into her signature sound. Perfect for late evenings, small gatherings, or a quiet moment that slowly turns into spontaneous dance. Cheers! Are you feeling disillusioned? Disappointed? Bitter? Sour? In this final installment of the Winter Soul Care Series, Alexander Blue Feather offers a powerful closing reflection on self-compassion as medicine for modern life. Opening with Rebecca Del Rio's poem Prescription for the Disillusioned, this episode explores how the overly critical mind contracts the soul. Be inspired to learn how compassion creates space for ripening, renewal and fresh beginnings. Drawing from Francis Weller's teachings on the “generous heart,” Alexander reflects on self-judgment, the muscular agenda of self-improvement, and the quiet violence we sometimes direct toward ourselves. Through personal story (including the one-year anniversary of his father's passing and a new chapter in South Bay) this episode becomes both teaching and testimony. What if the soul does not demand perfection or acceleration, but instead asks for mercy? What if compassion means “to suffer with," especially with yourself? This is an invitation to soften, to include your ancestors, to release rigid expectations, and to befriend your life as it is unfolding now. For spiritual explorers navigating grief, transition, and change, this episode offers a gentle and grounding prescription.

This week, Zak and Aaron sit down to discuss yet another curious case of misguided marketing — this time with fewer questionable hats. Highguard, which secured the headlining spot at The Game Awards 2025 thanks to Geoff Keighley's personal fondness for the title, launched last week to overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam and a rapidly dwindling player count. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Does the game deserve all of this hate, and will it ever be able to overcome it? Please, enjoy.Listen to Beach Girl on SpotifyCheck Out MosscatMarket on Instagram

Welcome back to our January rerun series! For today's spotlight, I'm thrilled to revisit Episode 17, where we dive into the elegant and effervescent French 75. One of my ALL time favorites and my go to welcome cocktail to serve when hosting parties. I chose the French 75 for this rerun because it's a brilliant riff on the classic Sour cocktail—that timeless combination of spirit, citrus, and sweetener. What makes the French 75 stand out, though, is its use of sparkling wine as a mixer or lengthener. The addition of bubbles transforms the structure of the drink, making it light, festive, and perfect for celebrations or any time you want to elevate your cocktail experience. By mastering the French 75, you're stepping into the world of the Collins family of drinks. The Collins family is all about taking the basic sour template and “lengthening” it with something fizzy—traditionally club soda, but as the French 75 shows, sparkling wine is a fantastic twist. Other drinks in this family include the Tom Collins, John Collins, and Vodka Collins—each swapping out the base spirit or bubbly for different flavors and personalities. And while we're here, it's worth tipping our hat to the Mojito. Though technically not a Collins, the Mojito follows a remarkably similar template: spirit (rum), citrus (lime), sweetener (sugar), and a bubbly lengthener (soda), plus the refreshing addition of mint. It's a great example of how understanding the Collins structure empowers you to spot and create variations across cocktail families—even when they hail from different traditions or use different techniques. As you listen (or re-listen) to Episode 17, think about how the French 75 not only showcases the versatility of the sour formula, but also invites you to play with sparkling ingredients in your cocktails. Once you get comfortable with this style, a whole world of bubbly, refreshing drinks is yours to explore. Cheers to new adventures in the Collins family, and to a sparkling start to the new year! Episode 276 (Romans 7) is where Paul takes us into “uncharted waters” with a simple but powerful picture: marriage. The law has dominion as long as someone lives—so in Christ, we died to the law as a way of salvation, and we've been married to Another: the risen Jesus. The result isn't lawless living, but fruit for God—serving in the newness of the Spirit, not the oldness of the letter. We also hit the covenant of works vs. grace (Jesus obeyed perfectly where Adam failed), Luther's crushing burden under the law, and the law's true purpose: to reveal God's holiness, expose our sin, and drive us to the cross.

Continuing our January return to cocktail fundamentals while Jules and Brad prep for the new year ahead. Last week we mastered the Sour; Spirit (rum), Sour (lime juice), Sweet (simple syrup) - better known as the Daiquiri. This week's Episode 11 introduces the Sidecar, which takes that Sour framework and swaps simple syrup for liqueur. This creates what's known as a Daisy style cocktail: Spirit (Cognac), Sour (lemon juice), Sweet (Cointreau). I always add a touch of simple syrup too, and you'll hear why. What's another Daisy you ask? Margarita anyone? Tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec—and yeah, it's better if you add a touch of simple syrup to that one too.
