James McFarland is a Teacher of Health and Physical Education and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Hillsborough High School, NJ. He was the National High School Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year 2018, and Hillsborough High Schools Teacher of the Year in 2008. Jim has been responsible for the health and physical education planning and implementation of Hillsborough High School's Strength and Conditioning Program since he began in 1997. In 1999 he was given the charge of coordinating the year round afterschool strength and conditioning program for students in grades 9-12, and given permission to begin the intermediate school and middle school year-round co-curricular programs. While continuing these programs, James has been involved with 8 collaborative research studies in youth exercise science with The College of New Jersey and has over 20 published works. He has been a speaker for the NSCA since his start as a certified strength and conditioning specialist in 2001, and has been an adjunct professor for The College of New Jersey's practical exercise science course for 4 years. His practical experience is fortified with his USAW Senior Level Certification, and extensive experience in youth competitive Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting. James holds in high regard his professional relationship with Yale Strength and conditioning for football, lacrosse, field hockey and soccer, as well as the New Balance sponsored Northeast Kingdom Running Camp. Reveille Barbecue Co. is a newcomer to the barbecue scene in Texas. Currently operating out of a trailer in Magnolia (a suburb north of Houston), Reveille was started by co-owners/pitmasters James McFarland and Michael Michna. James began chasing his BBQ dreams a few years ago and quickly built a resumé working at The Pit Room and Tejas Chocolate and Barbecue. Michael had a passion for cooking barbecue dating back to his days in the armed services and continuing into his career as a firefighter. The two met and became friends years ago and began making barbecue for cookoffs and special events. After several years of dreaming about opening a business, the dream began to become a reality in 2017. With a lot of hard work, planning, encouragement from friends and family, and the purchase of a custom built reverse flow smoker built by Arnis Robbins of the acclaimed Evie Mae's Pit Barbeque, Reveille became a reality. Reveille opened in May of 2018 serving strong representations of many of the smoked meat staples along with non-standard sides such as blistered shishito peppers and a version of Mexican street corn with a Texas spin. Currently open Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 am with plans for expanded hours in the coming months, the future is bright for Reveille Barbecue Co. As part of The Olympic Torch journey around the UK, it called into Long Field School on Tuesday 3rd July for a lunch break.
