In this week's basketball coaching conversation, Coordinator of Integrated Performance for the Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Thompson joins the Basketball Podcast to share insights on integrating science, skill, and human connectionClayton Thompson serves as the Coordinator of Integrated Performance for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he sits at the cutting edge of professional sports science and player development. With a background as an R&D Engineer and a Master's in Business Administration, Thompson is a vocal advocate for dismantling the traditional silos between "strength and conditioning" and "on-field skill." His philosophy is built on the belief that human movement should be treated as a unified system, rejecting the narrow label of "Strength Coach" in favor of a model that integrates biomechanical data, force-plate analytics, and technical skill acquisition. Before joining the Dodgers, Thompson refined his data-driven approach at Driveline Baseball, the industry leader in data-informed performance training. His career also includes pivotal roles at TCU (Texas Christian University) and Sanford Health, where he bridged the gap between collegiate athletics and clinical sports science. By applying engineering principles to the kinetic chain, Thompson has become an expert in optimizing rotational power and deceleration—concepts that are as vital for a pitcher's delivery as they are for a basketball player's jump shot or step-back.

In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I explore why the femoral neck can be uniquely resistant to change and why this often has less to do with exercise selection and more to do with blood flow and neurovascular entrapment. A simple case study question opens into a deeper look at pelvic anatomy, vascular supply, and how circulation drives bone remodeling.I break down the arterial anatomy of the hip, identify common neurovascular entrapment sites that limit blood flow to the femoral neck, & explain why checking distal pulses may be the assessment you're missing. What happens when life takes a surprise hard left turn and suddenly you're staring at a brand-new chapter? Do you crumble… or do you rise up and write the next page with faith, grit, and purpose? This week, I sit down with my great friend, powerhouse coach, and brother-in-iron, Bennie Wiley. Bennie and I worked together on NBC STRONG several years ago and I recently conducted this podcast interview just weeks after Bennie's tenure as the Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach at USC (U. of Southern California) ended. Bennie's story is one of perseverance, transition, and staying grounded in faith through the messy middle of change. After decades in strength & conditioning — from the Dallas Cowboys to Oklahoma to USC — Bennie found himself navigating an unexpected career pivot. Instead of letting it break him, he's leaning into the unknown, rewriting his story, and chasing new passions with fire. We cover a TON in this heartfelt and inspiring conversation, including: The “next” chapter– how to prepare for what's coming even when you don't know what it is. Handling adversity – who you really are shows up when life gets hard. Family first – how Bennie is embracing time with his kids and creating moments he missed before. Bodybuilding lessons – what stepping on stage taught him about discipline, nutrition, and respecting ALL areas of fitness. Life wisdom – why keeping your circle tight and being fully present “where your feet are” changes everything. Writing vs. rewriting – Bennie's mindset shift that every chapter builds on the last, not erases it. This episode will fire you up to face your own next “season” with courage, clarity, and conviction. Bennie is raw, real, and full of life wisdom that will help you get your mind right and keep moving forward. Let's keep inspiring greatness, building purpose, and creating IMPACT together. Let's go up to IMPACT-X Performance Huntington Beach where we recently had a Retreat and listen to the interview with Coach Wylie NOW…   Tune in, take notes, and remember — you don't need to rewrite your story. You just need to keep writing it. Friends, if today's conversation brought you value, here's what I encourage you to do: 1. SHARE this episode on Instagram and tag me @ToddDurkin and Bennie (@bwyliestrong)— and let us know your biggest takeaway. 2. Please LIKE it, REVIEW it, and SEND it to someone who's ready to step into their greatness. #GetYourMindRight #ImpactShow #ToddDurkin #BeHIM #PurposeDrivenLife #MindsetMatters #BennieWylie #Purpose #Faith **** Become a Certified ‘GET YOUR MIND RIGHT' Mindset Coach TODAY--EARLY BIRD SPECIAL Ends Sept 2nd, 2025 If you're a coach, parent, or mentor who wants to raise confident, focused, resilient athletes — this is the course you've been waiting for.
