In this episode of the Kankakee Podcast, host Jake LaMore sits down with Randy King and Ben King of King Music, a multi-generational, family-owned music store that has become a pillar of the Kankakee County community since its beginnings in 1981. Randy and Ben share the fascinating journey of how King Music got its start—from humble beginnings teaching lessons in a small country-western storefront, to becoming one of the area's most trusted destinations for instruments, repairs, and music education.Jake, a lifelong King Music customer, reminisces about growing up around the store, the King family's influence, and the vital role their business has played for local musicians, students, and educators. Randy and Ben open up about the evolution of King Music through decades of industry changes, the hardships and triumphs of running a small business, and the importance of adapting (including lessons learned during COVID and moving their business online). The conversation also highlights King Music's commitment to giving back, like their annual "Strings for Food" event, partnerships across the local arts community, and innovative early-childhood music classes that have inspired generations. Heartfelt moments emerge as Randy reflects on the store's impact following the passing of his brother and business partner, Dave King, and the challenges of shepherding King Music through difficult transitions. Ben shares what it's been like to take on a larger role in the family business, his own musical journey, and dreams for the future. What rare instruments have shown up at King Music? How did they turn a risky idea into a staple of Kankakee? And what's next for King Music as it eyes its next 40 years? Tune in for inspiring behind-the-scenes stories, local music history, and a celebration of the power of community support. If you've ever picked up an instrument in Kankakee—or just care about supporting local business and the arts—this is one episode you won't want to miss!Send us a text Support the show
Talk about going from chocolates to boiled lollies back to chocolates and then boiled lollies again! The loss of Captain Pearce is far from ideal and we literally did the hokey pokey with him all week. Time to Restump Podcast the stoush against the Suns. This is almost as tough an assignment as there is in AFL at the moment. Playing the Gold Coast Suns on their home deck usually doesn't end well for the touring teams in recent times. They've won 9 of their last 11 games at home, they're sitting pretty in 3rd on the ladder and they still have a game in hand. Considering they've only had 2 games at home so far this year, it means they've won 6 games away from People's First Stadium, something they've struggled to do up until this season. So, it is it pretty safe to say the Gold Coast Suns have now finally arrived?Making our tough task more difficult, we've lost Captain Pearce, to the absolute delight for Ben King. We've also lost livewire forward Izzy Dudley and obviously Cooper Simpson. However, Nat Fyfe, Sean Darcy and Josh Draper return fill the void and they're 3 handy ones to pick up the slack. It's an interesting decision to bring both Darcy and Fyfe back in when the forecast is for big bloody buckets of rain. Not that you can't get injured in the WAFL, but it's a little surprising they didn't go around in the twos. However, you'd imagine both will somehow be on managed minutes. Is it the ideal time to restart the validation trial of project JackArce? Up against Jarrod Witts and Ned Moyle in the expected torrential conditions, it just feels that maybe we haven't set Sean Darcy up for success. But we're not conditioning coaches or sport scientists so, who knows. Beyond the project are we making an error going in extremely tall? It failed a couple of weeks back and those conditions were pristine. Maybe the selection committee are backing the courage of their conviction. Not going to lie, as much as we tried to stave it off, the cautious optimism crept up and infected us again over the last couple of weeks. But Saturday is a different kettle of fish.... and given how much rain is forecast, that might be from a literal sense! Matty Rowell, Noah Anderson and Bailey Humphrey give you the impression they'll drink up the wet conditions. We did play well in dampness last week but we may need to swim a few extra training laps before Saturday. But, we're Dockers, we're waterside workers! Aren't storms and overcast conditions the natural enemies of the sun? What are we talking about here... we have the traditional conditional upper hand! And what do we always say at the Restump? If the world floods, it matters not to the duck! Time to wander into the upcoming watery wrestle in greater in depth. So, join us as we take a quick preview dip and a cold plunge in the purple pod pool.Send us a textSupport the show

In a RushRash exclusive, Chaz n' Schatz land an exclusive with vocalist Rocky Kuner and guitarist Ben King of Southern California's Mood Lifters Tribute to Rush just ahead of their disembarking for a full-on "half-a-smily-face" tour of the land Down Under, 5 cities in 5 days! We talk what it's been like since Rocky joined the band and how they continue their journey from local SoCal Rush Tribute to all-out Global Rush rash super-spreader, spreading the rash far and wide! Moods were elevated: - What it was like going to Scotland, playing Rushfest with jetlag, other musicians, and someone else's equipment. - How Ben discovered Rush through his sister in a time when MTV actually played music and how Rocky found Rush through her parents mix tapes. - Rocky's reaction to being dragged to Rush concerts by her Dad and Uncle at age 12. - How Mood Lifters and Rocky found each other after Rocky left YYNOT and how the band has gone to the next level since they've all joined creative forces. - The gear-up to do something Rush didn't even do…play a five city tour of Australia this month. - The market for Rocky's hand-written set lists and how her biggest fans are closest to the heart! - How the band is able to create such high-energy shows that has everyone singing and participating. - How the band is rounded out by Mat Miranda on drums, who couldn't be with us. And in an ongoing pattern of wheel-based shenanigans, we spin a track with no vocals, Leave That Thing Alone, off 1993's Counterparts. Rocky and Ben really get into the music and Ben helps us discern the “Celtic flavor” in Al's solo. Music appreciation and love of all the nuance, magic, energy, and intensity of multiple time signatures, key changes, and notes, notes, notes!! We name-drop (or at least think to mention in the show notes...) some of our usual suspects of our own like rushvault.com, and we are always thinking about rushisaband.com, and our fantabulous sponsor, Danforth & Pape, and podcastle.ai! And witness the first dual-attempt at playing Schatz's Scratch List - a tongue twisting good time was had by all - so now get out there and scratch that itch to hear Rush music with the Mood Lifters or any of these other bands live: UK Scotland Moving Pictures Scotland Leoni Jane Kennedy RushFest Scotland North America USA YYNOT Second Contact Solar Federation Accidental Breakdown Rush Archives Mood Lifters Lotus Land Dumb Love Vapor Trail Rash The Discs A Farewell To Kings Canada New World Men 2112 YYC South America Brazil RushFest Brazil Rush news, general nonsensical disorderly conduct, lack of regard for correctness or truth, and reckless endangerment of your whole-brain. This is the only podcast dedicated to increasing opioid release in your anterior insula, your anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), and your posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), in addition to the basal ganglia and the thalamus...and all that that implies. Join us - you know where to scratch - blah, blah...RushRash.
With virtually no key defenders left and our seven-match winning streak at stake, we needed somebody to step up. And, despite a shaky start, we got exactly what we wished for, with Eric Hipwood holding down the fort against Ben King so that Cam Rayner, Lachie Neale and Dayne Zorko could help propel us to - amazingly - second place on the ladder. And now, as the red-hot Saints await, we pause for a moment to reflect on the extraordinary career of Ryan Lester, as Froggy hits 200 games. Also this week... -Dom's embarrassing moment in airport security -The magical power of the tea leaves -What's going on with the first-goal curse? And much more!

That's Country Music! NZ Singer/Songwriter Releases Third Album, "Solstice Canyon Loop"#singersongwriter #countrymusic #newalbum #tedbrown #newmusic Best known as longtime guitarist, vocalist and collaborator in the Greg Johnson Band, Ted releases his third studio album Solstice Canyon Loop. Tracked at PLYRZ Studio in Santa Clarita CA June 27-28, 2020, the songs tell stories of Ted's journey from his hometown of Auckland NZ to his current home of Los Angeles CA where he's lived since 2002.The album “Solstice Canyon Loop” is a reminiscence of a journey. From Ted's crazy, dangerous troubled twenties in my hometown of AK New Zealand, to his restoration to sanity in Los Angeles CA. He was able to start again in the U.S. and had time to really pause and reflect on this during the lockdown months of the pandemic. Plus, Ted really got in touch with the memory of some of those who never made it.Calling on members of his 70's Country cover band, The Electric Fields, Ted assembled some of his favorite L.A. guys to play on the record. Notably, Dusty Wakeman on Bass (Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, Buck Owens), Mark Hart on Keys (Crowded House, Supertramp), Joel Martin on Guitar (Grateful to the Core, Pearl), Tim Walker on Pedal Steel (Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, The White Buffalo) and CalArts Alum and musician extraordinaire Rob Anderson on Drums. Ben King, Ted's Greg Johnson bandmate, added sweet harmonies from his studio in NZ.First Single “Mr O'Neil” on 3 hourly rotate here:https://www.audacy.com/stations/tomorrowshitstodayTo purchase:Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/solstice-canyon-loop/1730233477Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/2RqjSVsS3KCHuHN8UosZvl?si=hvH7oPcLTW2glGEKM6pUYwWebsite: https://www.tedbrownsongs.net/Bandcamp: https://tedsings.bandcamp.com/album/solstice-canyon-loopFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/tedsingsThanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteMonstrosityMonstrosity has celebrity guests, deep paranormal discussions, and comedy gold.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifyFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!
In his AHL debut, Sharks 2022 first round pick Filip Bystedt notched a pair of goals and added an assist but the San Jose Barracuda (21-32-9-3) would fall 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena against the San Diego Gulls (24-31-8-0). In the first, the Gulls put the first five shots on net, and managed to grab momentum early. On their seventh shot of the period, Nathan Gaucher (10) would make it goals in his last four as he tipped in a Nick Wolff point-pull at 9:09. After Gaucher was called for tripping, the Barracuda managed to tie the score as Kyle Rau (7) tipped in a Danil Gushchin shot from the blue line. After the Gulls took their lead back on a Ben King (15) goal at 16:23, Scott Sabourin (17) managed to tie the score with just nine seconds left in the period as he ripped in a sharp-angle shot past Alex Stalock.

In this week's episode, host Daniel Raimi talks with Resources for the Future (RFF) Research Associate Maya Domeshek and Senior Research Analyst Nicholas Roy about the Inflation Reduction Act and the emissions reductions that the law could achieve, according to projections from various energy models in an analysis they published recently in “Science” magazine. Domeshek and Roy discuss the projections; the law's potential costs, benefits, and effects on electricity prices; the differences among the models in their analysis; the caveats of economic models; and how decisionmakers can use the modeling results to improve policy.
