Julia Weldon started their acting career shredding scenes in the Meryl Streep/Liam Neeson drama "Before and After" before hitting pause on acting while they waited for the landscape to improve for genderqueer folks. In the meantime they built up an equally impressive music career and are now dipping their toes back into a more promising film and TV industry. We chat about all of that, plus awkward gender discussions at the gynecologist, Viola Davis being a badass per usual, when to insist on preferred pronouns - and Alanah discovers Ani DiFranco for the first time! Happy National Coming Out Day! And happy Julia Weldon day, as the singer/songwriter joins Soul Sisters to tell us about her journey from child actor to musician while grappling with issues of gender, sexuality and near-fatal illness, all of which have culminated in the crafting of beautiful songs like those found on her new album, Comatose Hope.
