Homoground stands in solidarity to condemn the tragic murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others at the hands of police. This is a continuation of the systemic racism pervasive in our country since its inception. We are committed to standing against racism in all its forms. We believe that to be silent is to be complicit. We believe that Black lives matter. We believe that Black lives are more important than property. We believe that we have a responsibility to use our platforms to speak out against this injustice whenever and wherever we are witness to it.In creating digital media we have amassed a community of listeners who tune in episode after episode and we will use our voice to speak against anti-blackness and police brutality, and we encourage our listeners to be educated, engaged, and to take action. #podcastersforjusticeSome websites we’ve been following for specific actions and to make donations are the Movement for Black Lives and Black Lives Matter. Some podcasts by POC creators we've been listening to are: How to Survive the End of the World, The Colored Girl Beautiful, Start Within, The Gayly Prophet, and Dreams Not Memes. To find more podcasts made by POC creators check out the Podcasts in Color podcast directory and support their patreon.Visit homoground.com/episode259 to learn more about the artists featured in this episode. With the rise of COVID-19 cases, many steps are being taken to prevent the spread and ensure people’s safety. This is leaving many people out of work and affecting their sources of income. For musicians, it is resulting in the cancellation of live events and tours, which is how many musicians generate their income. LGBTQIA musicians already face many struggles and having to cancel their main sources of income and a way that they’re able to connect with their communities is a huge blow.During this time, Homoground hosted a virtual panel to hear from musicians in our LGBTQIA community who are being affected by COVID-19 and to discuss ways that we as a community can help each other, as well as come up with solutions to alternative ways to survive financially during this time.www.homoground.com/covidpanel19 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
