On the morning of January 13, 2010, two twin girls nicknamed Tas and Jas stood at the kitchen counter in their home in Conyers, Georgia, writing notes back and forth to each other in a little notebook, and giggling. The girls were late for school, and they were writing instead of talking because they didn't want to wake their mom up and get yelled at for missing the bus. They finished their notes and closed the notebook, then started getting ready to leave. When they would return home that afternoon, they would find their quiet home in this gated community in Georgia soaked with blood, and an unspeakable horror waiting for them in the master bathroom. Brian and Louise Hogan, missionaries and church planters in Mongolia, responded to God's call with obedience. They arrived in the city of Erdenet in the early 1990s; there were no churches in the city. After the conversion of 14 teenage girls, they witnessed the birth and growth of a church community. However, as Scripture reminds us, forward motion in God's kingdom often awakens spiritual resistance. As Brian noted, "Throughout history, whenever the Kingdom has advanced, someone has had to pay a terrible price." For the Hogans, that terrible price was the sudden death of their newborn son, who passed away on Christmas Eve due to sudden infant death syndrome. In the depths of grief and isolation, Brian and Louise felt God's closeness. They were aware that Christians around the world were praying for them. Louise found strength through a question inspired by Elisabeth Elliot: “Was I called? Was I chosen? And did I obey?” She says it should not matter what God does with our obedience; we are simply called to obey. Despite their loss, the Hogans chose to remain in Mongolia, grieving alongside their Mongolian Christian family. Their suffering became a powerful testimony of hope and resurrection in a culture unfamiliar with such concepts. In their loss, they were able to share unshakable Christian hope: “We are going to see our son again.” Brian is the author of There's a Sheep in my Bathtub and An A to Z of Near-Death Adventures. Listen also as VOM Radio host Todd Nettleton shares information about how you can send VOM Action Packs to persecuted Christians around the world.

Unscripted travel moments don't only offer the best travel memories, but unscripted travel also creates great outfit styles as a result.Leave Room in Your Bag — and Your Plans — for AdventureThere's something undeniably magical about boarding a train with no fixed destination. Or veering off the mapped-out route because a crooked sign pointed toward something called "The Devil's Bathtub" or "Whispering Rocks." These are the moments that stay with us — the ones that weren't booked through an app, recommended by a thousand blogs as “unique” (clearly not), or squeezed into an itinerary.Let the Road Write the Story. You Just Show Up in Style. At 1923 Main Street®, we believe in the beauty of unscripted travel. Because while a little planning is smart (we're not suggesting you forget your passport), leaving space for the unexpected opens the door to the best kind of stories — the kind that can't be Googled.Wouldn't you love to be among the first to share a unique story? The Best Stories Aren't on the ItineraryAsk any traveler to tell you their favorite travel memory, and chances are, it won't be the hotel buffet or the all-inclusive pre-package fun. It will be that time they got caught in a street parade in a city they didn't even mean to visit. Or when a local pointed them to a hidden walkway that led to a picture-perfect uncrowded beach, a tiny taverna, or a rooftop bar that no guidebook mentioned. When you leave space in your schedule, you make room for discovery. And discovery is the heart of real travel — not vacation. It's raw, sometimes messy, but always unforgettable.Travel Style That Roams as Freely as You DoSpontaneous travel demands clothing that works just as hard as your spirit of adventure. You don't need to dress like a walking checklist of tourist clichés. (Please don't.) You need gear that moves with you, tells your story and doesn't scream: “I'm new here!”That's why our designs at 1923 Main Street® — especially our Unscripted line — speak to the soul of the traveler, not the schedule. They're carefully created for those who'd rather follow a back road than a travel app. With subtle, inward-facing designs inspired by the magic of discovery, you'll look like you belong wherever you end up. Or at least, you won't look like you definitely don't belong. And that is by design at 1923 Main Street®, because all of our original creations are based on experiences and this philosophy. Our pieces aren't just bold in statement — they're bold in versatility. Toss one of our graphic hoodies into your bag, and you're ready for chilly train rides, windy cliff tops, or impromptu dinners under string lights in a tucked-away courtyard.Planning a wardrobe for unplanned travel is different (and more fun) than planning your outfits for a tightly controlled itinerary. It's going to force you to be more creative, more flexible with your choices and – likely – better styled overall.A Little Planning Goes a Long Way When You Travel — the Rest is Pure MagicWhat exactly do we mean by unplanned travel? Unplanned travel doesn't mean no planning at all. It's obviously important to most people to have a starting point and a loose agenda. Let's be real. You'll want to book your resort hotel and perhaps a few spots to visit and places to eat. But leave the rest open. It's in those undefined spaces — the cafés you stumble into, the trails you didn't mean to hike — where the real magic happens. And when you look back, years later, it'll be the photo where your shoes are muddy, your sweatshirt a little wrinkled and your smile completely real that brings it all flooding back. That's the magic of wearing the adventure. So pack light. Roam Freely. Wear Boldly. And leave some room for the road to surprise you.Because the best journeys — and the best versions of ourselves — are never fully planned.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and always remember to roam freely and wear boldly.Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

What is it like to travel with a kid on long-haul journeys to Asia, from Singapore, to KL, to Taipei and more (and the secret bathrooms, which one would you choose?).  AF001, the Air France fragrance (only the French!). Should KLM talk to Korean about the new livery? (And where is the red? LH kept a Pantone code at least). The runways hidden in plain sight (we have one in Singapore, one in Switzerland). CDG T1 (again) shortcomings — compare that to the magic of Singapore Changi and the big bathtub plug at Jewel (Changi, where no one can hear your child scream!). Is Air Canada better than JAL?! (not everything coming out of Japan has unicorn status, you know). What is premium economy (a slightly better economy, or a business class minus, no airline seem to agree). When should service happen on long-haul flights? (Bad timing is everything). What on Earth is going on at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (there's a lot of dust on that Aerotrain). We mentioned our friends at Plane Talking UK, here's how to listen/watch themHappy flying! —Follow us, and comment on: Instagram - Bluesky - Threads - Mastodon - Twitter/XComment on each episode, and rate us, on SpotifyReview, and rate us, on Apple PodcastsComment, like, review, and rate us, on FacebookComment on YouTube (there's no video, just audio!)Search for "Layovers" on any podcast service (some direct links are on our website)If we're missing one, or if you have any feedback, let Paul know on Instagram - Threads - Mastodon - Bluesky - Twitter/X
