Steve and Scott discuss this transition in addition to many other rock themes from the era.
In 2010 we were dick deep in the grubbiness of the era of gritty remakes of classic horror films. Producer Michael Bay hired the guy that directed the video for Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit to make a "scarier" remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger. The remake truly stinks but years earlier Wes Craven himself reimagined his classic with the meta sequel New Nightmare.
