I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me.   ACU Endorsed Charities -------------------------------------------------------- Pre-Born! Before the platinum records… before Metal Health changed heavy metal forever… there was a beginning — and not everyone remembers it the same way.In this episode, original bassist Kelly Garni tells his firsthand account of how Quiet Riot actually formed in early-70s Los Angeles. But the story longtime frontman Kevin DuBrow shared publicly over the years paints a very different picture. So which version is true?We dig into the conflicting origin stories, the friendships, the ambitions, and the mythology that formed one of the most important bands of the Sunset Strip era. Memory, ego, media narratives — and the passage of time — all collide as we try to separate rock history from rock legend. If you think you know how Quiet Riot started… you might not.Listen to Episode 358 - Kelly Garni: His Bond with Randy Rhoads & the Birth of Quiet Riot

Music of the Mat is celebrating nine years the only way it knows how: with a hearty pun and a lively discussion about hair metal! Inspired by the recent retirement of Hiroshi Tanahashi and his glorious head of hair, this episode combines two hirsute topics. The hair vs. hair match is a stipulation that has been around for decades in pro wrestling, and hair metal is a genre that has been around for decades in music (even if it's heyday was forty years ago). Andrew is joined by returning guest Damon McDonald (Super J-Cast) to play some of their favorite hair metal songs. Artists played include Ratt, Cinderella, White Lion, Skid Row, Def Leppard, KIX, Bon Jovi, Poison, and many more. This week, we welcome listener, weekly socials commenter, and all-around cool mother scratcher: Jeremy Patterson to the show for a round of our very special game called, “WILD CARD”! Robert and Jeremy go head-to-head in a very close game of: guess the band being played. Of course, we have the amazing InObscuria banner of logos as a visual aid for the players! You'll notice a lot of double-point bands from our “Aussie” category this go round as well. Pour yourself a cup of Toka-Cola, and play along…What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Besides conducting ridiculous game shows, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we take a listen to all 3, as we let our contestants pick a randomly obscure song by the decade in which it was released from a creatively curated playlist. We're so honored to have Jeremy join us, especially after all that smack-talking he did about being able to best our Aussie buddy Craig Elvin back on his game episode (ep. 226)! Can he back up his boasts? Find out! Songs this week include:Diamond Head – “Bones” from Diamond Head (2016)Gruntruck – “Crucifunkin'” from Inside Yours (1991)Ours – “Rise” from The Bella Fall EP (2021)Toadies – “Mister Love” from Rubberneck (1994)The Southern River Band – “Second Best” from Rumour & Innuendo (2016)Big Red Fire Truck – “Love Bite” from Trouble In Paradise (2023)Red Fang – “Hank Is Dead” from Murder In The Mountains (2011)Midnight Oil – “No Time For Games” from Bird Noises – EP (1980)JAYLER – “Take Me Home” from A Piece In Our Time - EP (2023)King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Gila Monster” from PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation (2023)The Poor – “Lover” from High Price Deed (2023)Thundermother – “Take The Power” from Dirty & Divine (2025)Mind Funk – “Sugar Ain't So Sweet” from Mind Funk (1991)The Living End – “Roll On” from Roll On (2000)Seven Year Witch – “Best Of The Best” from Vampire Calamity (2024)Lydia's Castle – “Phoenix” from Lydia's Castle - EP (2022)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Back to the Beginning was a benefit concert by the English rock band Black Sabbath, with a number of supporting artists. It took place on July 5th, 2025 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England, very near where the band was formed in 1968. The event concluded with the final live performances of both the band and lead singer Ozzy Osbourne; it also marked the first time since 2005 that the original line-up of the band (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward) had performed together live. Osbourne, no longer able to walk due to advanced Parkinson's disease, sang while seated on a throne. The widely-lauded concert was streamed worldwide via pay per view with a broadcast delay. It featured an all-star lineup of supporting acts, including two supergroups of musicians serving as the house band. Proceeds from the event totaled £140 million, and will be donated to Acorns Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Cure Parkinson's. Black Sabbath is widely regarded as a foundational band for heavy metal, with their influence extending to various subgenres. Their impact is undeniable, shaping the sound and lyrical themes of countless bands across generations, from the 70s through to current day modern acts.  For the full 68 song set and band & artist list, click here: https://www.loudersound.com/bands-artists/black-sabbath-back-to-the-beginning-setlist Thank you for watching and listening to the Hair Metal Podcast on the Fandom Podcast Network! Today, we're diving into the unrelenting collapse of hair metal empire. A music scene that crashed harder than Vince Neil's drunk driving accident killed Razzle Dingley.   Sure, bands like Def Leppard, Motley Crue, and Poison are still out on the road, playing for nostalgic crowds of people who yearn to hear those power chords. But for every one of those groups that are still selling merch and playing gigs, there are several who were wiped off the board in the early 90s by Seattle's flannel fury.  Grunge was a raw, authentic sound and anti-establishment ethos that rejected hair metal's polished production, spandex, and power ballads. Why was Chappell Roan's band dressed like an 80s hair metal act during her Grammy performance? The answer unlocks the surprising secret behind her #1 country hit "The Giver." This musical detective story connects glam rock aesthetics to modern country through an unexpected lineage involving AC/DC's producer, Shania Twain's revolution, and men who inadvertently dressed in drag. Between fiddle licks and gated reverb drums lies a brilliant subversion of country traditions that proves the genre has always been about musical drag while revealing what "rhinestone cowgirl" really means.
