Play Episode Listen Later Aug 12, 2026 83:20

**Clay Edwards Show – Episode 1,273 with Creston Burch** Clay opens by addressing a viral claim that his “brother” was involved in a Rankin County home invasion and standoff. He sets the record straight: he has no brother (half, step, or otherwise), calls out the usual online crew for running with the false story, and notes the irony of people eager to talk about someone else's family when their own records tell a different tale. The conversation shifts into a music-heavy stretch marking two milestones. Clay looks back 25 years to the Crazy 8 college nights and the old flyers that packed the place, then marks the 15th anniversary of Warrant frontman Jani Lane's death. He shares personal memories of seeing Warrant open for Motley Crue, the Blood, Sweat & Beers tour at the Coliseum, and promoting them years later. That sparks a rundown of hair-metal history—how labels manufactured some of the late-era bands, the rise of copycat acts, Autograph's unlikely shot opening for Van Halen after a jogging-buddy connection with David Lee Roth, Skid Row's success during the Nirvana wave, Tesla, and more. From there the show turns to the WNBA. Clay and Creston dig into the Sophie Cunningham incident, the Indiana Fever coach's postgame comments, and the broader pattern of on-court physicality and off-court rhetoric. Clay questions the high rate of openly lesbian and “stud” identities in women's basketball and softball compared with other sports, asks what is happening inside those locker rooms and programs, and ties it to larger cultural pressure around transgender athletes in women's sports and the refusal to define basic terms. The episode also covers the appointment of a Muslim municipal judge in Mississippi. Clay discusses the strong public reaction (including from people who usually stay quiet), questions how and why the selection happened, notes the limited power of a municipal bench, and points listeners toward a planned interview with the judge on another show for a closer look. Throughout, the tone stays unfiltered: accountability, cultural double standards, free speech, and skepticism of narratives that ignore root causes or basic reality. Classic Clay Edwards Show territory—music nostalgia mixed with sharp takes on sports, crime, identity politics, and local power.

Great to speak with Rikki for the first time. He and his band Rockett Mafia are coming to the Token Lounge on August 29th to play your favorite Poison songs, including the entire Look What The Cat Dragged In album for its 40th anniversary. I didn't know it, but Rikki is a big paranormal fan, as am I. We talked about that as he has a YouTube series called Legend Tripping, where he takes you to scary places across the country. We discussed his upbringing in mid-Pennsylvania, the beginning of Poison, moving to Hollywood, and the early days. He told me about times in the band when the grunge movement took over, as well. He's got a new book coming out in September called Ghost Notes-My Life In Poison. Rikki told me about that and that fact that publishers wanted them to write a book similar to The Dirt from Motley Crue. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. If your idea of a productive morning includes hiding whiskey in your shoes, arguing with Oprah, and learning more about kidney stones than any human ever wanted to know, congratulations—you've found today's daily comedy show. The gang kicks things off by reacting to Fireball's newest invention: high-top sneakers with hidden compartments designed to smuggle booze into concerts. Is it brilliant? Is it incredibly stupid? Can both be true? Absolutely. The conversation quickly spirals into stories about sneaking drinks into venues, golf-course bathroom etiquette, and why "shoe whiskey" should never become part of the English language. Then things take an unexpectedly painful turn as Bret Michaels undergoes emergency kidney stone surgery, which leads Moon to share some of the most unforgettable—and honestly horrifying—kidney stone stories ever told on this show. Hospital visits, tour disasters, screaming in public bathrooms... somehow everyone survives, but barely.Celebrity news brings plenty of chaos, too. Tommy Lee reveals one of Motley Crue's most unbelievable drug stories, Bon Jovi struggles through a concert after vocal issues, Korn's Jonathan Davis gets married, Johnny Depp surprises Comic-Con fans, and Jason Alexander makes headlines by apologizing for a decades-old comedy sketch. The crew also debates whether Johnny Depp will always be Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, or something completely different depending on who you ask. Then Oprah enters the conversation with a comment that lights the fuse on one of the episode's biggest discussions. Should young people sacrifice everything to build a career, or should work-life balance begin immediately? Everyone has an opinion, nobody completely agrees, and somehow the debate turns into one of the most thoughtful conversations of the morning without losing the sarcasm that keeps everything fun.Of course, it wouldn't be The Rizzuto Show without plenty of side quests. There are discussions about Olive Garden Pasta Pass failures, Hollywood Walk of Fame stars, celebrity birthdays, awkward David Letterman moments, the Kardashians, concert ticket disasters, and enough random tangents to make your GPS give up entirely.Whether you're here for celebrity gossip, weird news, hilarious fails, pop culture commentary, or simply because you enjoy hearing a group of friends derail every conversation imaginable, today's daily comedy show delivers exactly the kind of organized chaos you've come to expect. Thanks for making us part of your day. If you laughed, learned something completely unnecessary, or now have an irrational fear of kidney stones, we'd call that a successful episode.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week brings another installment of “Degrees Of Separation…,” where we dig into the side projects, supergroups, and solo releases connected to a particular artist. This time, we pay tribute to a rock n' roll workhorse and journeyman from the Great White North: a jack-of-all-trades musician who seems to be single-handedly keeping many of the legacy artists we love in fighting shape. He's not only a multi-instrumentalist and consummate rock star, but he also has some of the best pipes in the business. Of course, we're talking about TODD “DAMMIT” KERNS!!! New to InObscuria? It's all about excavating obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. While you may know Todd primarily as Slash's bass player and backing vocalist, you may not realize just how deep his catalog of side projects runs—or how many artists he has supported throughout his career. As always, our hope is that we turn you on to something new!   Songs this week include: Minefield - “All American Man” from Minefield (2021) Smash L.A. - “Breakin' All The Rules” from Law ‘N' Authority (1989) Blackbird Angels - “Mine (All Mine)” from Solsorte (2023) The Age Of Electric - “Remote Control” from Make A Pest A Pet (1997) Sin City Sinners - “Goin' To Vegas” from Exile On Fremont Street (2010) Bob Kulick - “Rich Man” from Skeletons In The Closet (2017) Todd Kerns - “You Know What You Did” from TKO (2016) Static In Stereo - “Overboard” from Static In Stereo (2002) Toque - “The Spirit Of Radio” from Never Enough (2019) Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://bonelesspodcasting.com/shows/in-obscuria https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria Store If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Then things take a sharp left turn into the great extraterrestrial debate after discussion of Spielberg's latest sci-fi blockbuster sparks a surprisingly deep conversation about intelligent life beyond Earth.Do aliens exist? Are they already here? Is Earth basically the North Sentinel Island of the galaxy? Could heaven secretly be a spaceship? These are apparently the questions that happen when you give a radio show access to microphones before coffee fully kicks in.The crew dives into theories ranging from religion and simulation concepts to alien overlords, government coverups, and whether any of us would voluntarily board a mysterious spacecraft in the middle of nowhere. Some members of the show are ready to leave Earth immediately. Others have follow-up questions about bathrooms. There's also a healthy amount of celebrity and entertainment chaos. Learn breaks down the new Sublime album featuring Jakob Nowell, Fleetwood Mac's upgraded greatest-hits collection, Motley Crue's theatrical return, Sammy Hagar's upcoming tour, and Larry David's newest HBO project. Along the way, the gang somehow turns a discussion about classic rock into a deep dive on band members dating each other, divorcing each other, and then somehow continuing to make hit records together. The movie conversation keeps rolling with discussions about Spielberg's return to alien storytelling, the highest-rated films of the last 25 years, Christopher Nolan's domination of IMDb rankings, and why Whiplash remains one of the most stressful movies ever made. It's the kind of daily comedy show episode that starts with local events and ends with humanity questioning its place in the universe. If you enjoy pop culture commentary, weird news, celebrity gossip, classic rock debates, science-fiction rabbit holes, and a daily comedy show that never stays on topic for more than three minutes, Episode 200 delivers exactly the kind of beautiful disaster you'd expect from The Rizzuto Show. Thanks for making this daily comedy show part of your day.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Film Festival: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 Patreon: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast This week on Dopey Greatest Hits,! Dave dusts off one of the biggest episodes in the show's history as the Dopey Patreon votes Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe to the top of the poll. Before the interview, Dave celebrates Ray Brown's legendary “Home Sweet Heroine,” reflects on working Step Eight with a sponsee, and shares another gratitude story involving his father. Then Jules the Cocaine Bear delivers a classic disaster tale involving cocaine, drunken party crashing, a switchblade, British police, and a miraculous escape from drug charges. Kimber King joins the show to react to comments from her replay episode, discuss Wednesday Zoom antics, laugh about bizarre drug combinations, promote Safe Spot, and celebrate the Knicks' championship run. The two revisit old stories and joke about everything from meth vapes to foot fetishes and Suboxone flavors. The centerpiece of the episode is Dave's epic conversation with Nikki Sixx. Nikki discusses twenty-plus years of sobriety, fatherhood, moving to Wyoming, writing The First 21, and how creativity replaced addiction. He opens up about childhood trauma, being introduced to drugs at an early age, selling “chocolate mescaline,” discovering heroin, and surviving the darkest years chronicled in The Heroin Diaries. Nikki reflects on Mötley Crüe's forty-year journey, his friendships with Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, the monster of addiction that never dies, and why he continues to share his story in hopes of helping others. The interview finishes with a rapid-fire rock and roll quiz before Dave signs off after his dog nearly attacks an Amazon delivery guy. Somehow we've already reached the point where the conversation spirals from Steven Spielberg's new alien movie into whether Lear's digestive system could accidentally start an interplanetary war.Just another totally normal morning. The gang kicks things off with a packed weekend preview, including Lear's big Pageant event, Moon's soccer watch party in Illinois, and the upcoming Night at the Rizzlies. The movie conversation keeps rolling with discussions about Spielberg's return to alien storytelling, the highest-rated films of the last 25 years, Christopher Nolan's domination of IMDb rankings, and why Whiplash remains one of the most stressful movies ever made.Plus:The Blues' Stanley Cup anniversary memoriesO.J. Cinderella came out of the gritty streets of Philadelphia by writing hookey riffs, shout along choruses and a fun, glammy stage show. Gene Simmons tried to get them signed but it was Jon Bon Jovi who would convince his label Mercury to get them a record contract. Led by lead singer/songwriter/lead guitarist Tom Keifer, Cinderella had hard riffs and a Sunset Strip performance style that made them perfect for MTV in the mid- to late-80s. Their debut album Night Songs landed in June of 1986 and laid the foundation for more platinum albums and MTV airplay. Keifer's raspy voice can lead big sing-a-long rockers like Shake Me or Somebody Save Me or can sing a lament like Nobody's Fool. His friend Eric Brittingham provides the steady bass and Jeff LaBar lays textures against Keifer's hard riffs and trades a few licks. On the record, drums were provided by veteran studio musician Jody Cortez, though Fred Coury was brought in just in time to make the album cover (don't get Jackson started) and joined the band. Yes, their lyrics are mostly banal and cliched sexual conquests but they were of a time and Cinderella may have done that sleazy 80s rock made famous by Motley Crue and Guns N Roses as well as anyone. Once grunge came, all that was glam or "hair metal" had to go but maybe Cinderella should have been given the opportunity to reinvent themselves like Def Leppard. We think they were unnecessary casualties of grunge and while Night Songs may not be skip-free, it's a solid hard rocking 80s album with some great riffs and fist pumping choruses.
