I briefly worked for Catherine Gallant several years ago assisting with event planning and grant writing on a freelance basis. She is a performer, choreographer and teacher - approaching 25 years with PS 89 in Manhattan. Catherine and her students appeared in the documentary PS DANCE. She served on the writing committee for the NYCDOE's Blueprint for the Arts in DANCE and is on the faculty of the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL). She is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory and holds an MFA in Dance from Temple University. She studied with the Limon Co. and Anna Sokolow, among many others. She is also a dance historian with a specialty in the art and technique of Isadora Duncan. In 1989 she co-founded Dances by Isadora (with Patricia Adams) which has performed for audiences around the world. Catherine performs throughout the US in Jerome Bel's work Isadora Duncan. Step inside the halls of five NYC public schools and celebrate dance! Hosted by veteran TV journalist Paula Zahn, PS DANCE! is the new documentary that captures what happens when students have dance in their curriculum. The journey is one of imagination, curiosity, hard work and discipline. In these studios, dance is for every child. PS DANCE!, two years in the making, interviews 16 kids and captures more than 100 students, who joyfully share the influence of dance on their daily learning. Nel Shelby Productions is New York City’s premier source for dance videography, editing promotional films and live-streaming performance.  Now, Nel Shelby Productions has grown from a one-woman show to a thriving operation with an excellent team of creative videographers, editors, marketing minds, client relations and project managers. Nel’s company is deeply dedicated to the preservation of dance through documentation of live performances, while also focusing on digital marketing and promotion with fully edited marketing reels, documentaries and dance films. Nel’s company has  filmed more than 700 dance events and performances in traditional theaters, outdoor plazas and gallery spaces.She also works as Festival Videographer for the internationally celebrated Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the Berkshires and as Resident Videographer at the Vail International Dance Festival in Colorado.
