Before diving into S5E2, “The Chris Rock Test,” 'Billions' cocreators Brian Koppelman and David Levien discuss some parallels between ‘Billions’ and real-life billionaire behavior as well as how the location manager and prop master truly shined in Season 5's second episode (0:30). Then they talk to Corey Stoll, who plays Michael Prince, about his character, joining an already established show, learning from his castmates, filming at Mohonk Mountain House, and more (36:40).
Kyle and Kirk talk the coin flip of a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson movie, and South Park while recording S5E1 and S5E2 of NYPD Blue Balls. (Recorded: ?/?/?) (Slightly Edited)

Talking Through The Hurt That Will Happen On this episode 53 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, Brian and Kyle are joined again by our special guest co-host Mark from The Walking Dead Talk Through, as we talk through Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 2, which is titled, The Hurt That Will Happen. This was written by Alex Delyle, and directed by Jessica Lowrey. We have more feedback for last week’s episode… S5E2 coverage starts at 31:15… Before we get into this week’s episode, we have to share more feedback we received for last week’s episode, S5E1 Here to Help. Discussion on this week’s episode starts at 31 minutes and 15 seconds into the podcast. Daniel’s back! Strand leaves to see if he can get a plane from Daniel, who we see is living in a compound near El Paso. Some were a little confused about why Strand went alone, myself included. If he was worried he would be shot for his trouble, why not bring someone with him, like Charlie? Daniel’s not going to shoot a girl, but he goes alone, and he doesn’t take the SWAT truck. Daniel welcomes him inside but doesn’t give him the plane. There was a mixed response over Daniel’s return to the show. People who haven’t watched all of the first four seasons had trouble understanding the complicated relationship between Strand and Daniel, but if you have been watching, you got it. Radioactive… We see something new this episode: Radioactive walkers. You can’t kill them in close combat – you can only shoot them. This is a little confusing to the viewer. I don’t exactly understand why a simple touch could kill you, but OK. Luciana… They continue to struggle with what to do with Luciana. The accordion talk just didn’t work. With the injury she has, you would think she would have been given some strong painkillers that would have made her slur her speech, but she instead makes some crazy talk about accordions. Now, as mentioned on the podcast, I have heard of people losing their filters after a heavy medication, but I would have expected her to slur her speech, act slow and be groggy. We saw none of that them. Lara said it and I think she got it right. The biggest problem is, once they got rid of Nick, the showrunners don’t seem to know what to do with her character. I appreciate the attempt at humor, but it seems a combination of bad writing, bad directing and strange acting choices (which may or may not be Danay Garcia’s fault) took the character off in a strange direction. I think they need to try something else. FTWD Ratings aren’t terrible… This week, FTWD ratings were lower from last week, as expected, but not drastically so. S5E2 The Hurt That Will Happen got a 0.51 in the 18-49 demographic with 1.687 million viewers, down from the last week‘s 0.59 and 1.966 million viewers. As mentioned last week, there was no Talking Dead this week.

Tonight's show contains SPOILERS up through the last episode, + possible information from current AMC official promo materials! Welcome to S5E2! Season 5 will be doing the traditional 50/50 split season, with 8 episodes running until July 21st. We don't yet know when Ep 9 will resume the season, but our best guess counting back from the first Sunday in October makes Aug 11th a likely candidate. We will keep our listeners informed when we get confirmation of those dates. Typically we start the show a half hour before the new episode airs live each week, with recap from the previous episode, and discussion of what is to come tonight. At 9:00 pm, we'll go dark or mute, and watch the new episode together, and give episode ratings from 1-10 and commentary during the commercial breaks. We will also give our listeners trivia on the show as well as the cast and crew, including bios, birthdays, and more. Our show is SPOILER and COMIC FREE. Please don't discuss either spoilers or the comics in the chat or on the air - we prefer our discussions, reactions, and comments, to be just about what we know from the show presented. Episode 2 is called "The Hurt That Will Happen" Official AMC Synopsis: "Morgan and Alicia meet a survivor and learn of a grave new walker threat. Meanwhile, the mission is put to the test when one of their own goes missing. Elsewhere, Strand makes contact."
Sometimes motivational speakers will ask their audience if they're hungry for victory or success. Metaphorically, this is a useful analogy, but there is a significant difference in being hungry versus being hungry. When dinner rolls around and I'm asked whether I'm "hungry", I usually say Yes because I haven't eaten a meal in five hours, not because my stomach is growling. I've never been truly hungry, not in the way that hunger pains seize a great percentage of this earth's population. And yet, there have been a few occasions in my life where I can relate to being hungry enough to eat something I wouldn't usually eat and can vouch, at least to a minor degree, that I'm not considering all the implications of my actions when I'm trying to satiate that hunger. It's more difficult to make clear headed choices when my body aches. Read more... Talking Poofy (Scott Brennan, Adam Richard, Toby Sullivan) present The Poofcast 76 (Season 5 Episode 2) guest starring Nelly Thomas and Paul Horan. Nelly Thomas joins us, ostensibly to talk about her book (What Women Want, Random House) but gets sidetracked into a discussion of whether Bisexual is a dirty word. Mother Paul Horan presents the Poofstory of gay bushranger Captain Moonlite, and Grunty McFarkring has turned his opinion segment into a movie review segment. WARNING The Poofcast contains adult themes, sexually explicit discussion, coarse language and people treating bisexuality as if it is normal (we know that can be offensive to some).
