On this week's episode of the 33 Tangents podcast, Jason and Jim are joined by Shai Dahan.  Shai is an American contemporary painter and street artist living in Sweden He is also the illustrator of the book “A Is For Analytics”.  Some of Shai accomplishments include: In July 2012, Shai received recognition for his solo exhibition at the Borås Art Museum in Sweden.  He was later featured as the opening keynote speaker at TEDx Göteborg in October 2012. In 2019, Shai painted Sweden's largest outdoor mural in Ryavallen stadium which is over 950 square meters.  The mural was painted as part of the European Athletics U20 Championships. Shai was been awarded as Ambassador of the city of Borås on June 29, 2019.  He has also been named one of Borås 40 Under 40 Most Successful People. Det var staden med textilfabriker i varenda hörn. Det var industristaden med koll på design, mode och på hur man syr och säljer kläder på ett enkelt och billigt sätt. Men så kraschade tekoindustrin - och med den även staden! Borås blev en stad med tysta gator, hög arbetslöshet - känd för sina regnvåta gator På Trettondagen, den 6:e januari, sänder P1 ett temaprogram om en stads självkänsla. Om en stad som med hjälp av skulpturer, fashion och streetartfestival lyckades ta sig upp igen. Helt plötsligt var Borås staden på allas läppar. Hur ser återvändande boråsare på sin stad? Varför ifrågasatte den före detta infrastrukturministern vad göteborgarna skulle göra i Borås? Och vad var det som fick Galenskaparna och After Shave att skriva nidlåten Borås Borås? "If you treat it like a hobby, it will stay a hobby. If you treat it like a job, it becomes a job." Bullet holes covered the walls while the children played around... Shai Dahan was in Palestine and he wasn't supposed to be there. No one would have been able to help him if they found out he was Jewish. Being Jewish in that part of the world can be dangerous. He had to be careful not to show his tattoos. After all, his arms are covered in hebrew letters. He wasn't there to create problems, he was there to paint a mural.
