We look back at highlights from our shows in 2016. Clips from guests Dino Archie, Byron Bertram, Jason Bryden, Sophie Buddle, Sara Bynoe, Jeff Cooper, Grahaeme Cowie, Ivan Decker, Glen Foster, Jessica Holmes, Caitlin Howden, Paul Hooper, Shauna Johannesen, Sean Kent, Julie Kim, Simon King, Dave Merheje, Camille Mitchell, Tim Nutt, Rob Pue, and Mike Storck.
Shauna Johannesen comes to us sleep-deprived. As she should be, too. She was in the middle of a theatre run of her own play, Common Grace, and was starting work on a short film for the Crazy8s festival (which has since been completed). We talk about both those projects as well as auditioning, kids vs animals, and thievery.
Interview with Shauna Johannesen about her upcoming show "Common Grace" at Pacific Theatre, and reviews of the 2016 International Performing Arts Festival--featuring Aakash Odedra Company's "Inked" and "Murmur". Arts Report Jake Clark reviews the Cultch's production of "The Rivals" by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. We also provide information for upcoming UBC shows--Sarah Ruhl's "Eurydice" by UBC's Theatre and Film Department, and the "UBC Arts & Culture Night with Blank Vinyl Project, UBC Improv, and UBC Slam Poetry." Hosted by Ashley Park.
Pacific Theatre presents Common Grace by Shauna Johannesen, Shindig Preview.
Shauna Johannesen and James Danderfer are the husband and wife team behind the hit Crazy8s short film, Bedbugs: A Musical Love Story. Shauna wrote the script and lyrics as well as starring in it, while James came up with the story and wrote all the music. In their separate lives, Shauna is an actress (she was the "Shut the front door!" lady in the A and W commercials) while James is one of the country's top jazz musicians. In this episode, we get to hear all four songs from the movie.
Actor/playwright Shauna Johannesen visited the studio to plug her upcoming Fringe show, Deadley: A Ridiculous Medley of Scenes About Death. Well, that's over with, but you can still enjoy the banter and get to know Shauna. Warning: Things get philosophical.
