What did a holiday feast look like in Edwardian England?  Think multiple courses, carefully decanted wines, and a strict social hierarchy governing every sip and bite.  In this episode of Wine Behind the Scenes, Laurel Simmons is joined by author Susan Jennings, whose historical novel, "The Blue Pendant," dives deep into life inside a grand seaside hotel in early 20th-century Britain. Inspired by her grandmother's stories and fuelled by meticulous research, Susan paints a vivid picture of the Edwardian era. In this period of time, food and wine were more than sustenance; they were statements of class, comfort, and culture. Together, she and Laurel explore the customs of the time, the importance of Christmas dinners, and the quiet labour of those working behind the scenes in grand hotels.   What You'll Learn: What inspired The Blue Pendant and how Susan wove her family's history into the story How Edwardian hotels operated from butlers to banquet halls The essential role of wine in social status and formal dining Christmas traditions of the time (yes, there was port!) How customs from over a century ago still echo in our modern holiday celebrations What it was really like for the staff behind those sparkling dinner scenes Whether you're a historical fiction fan or just love a well-set table, this episode will transport you to a time of elegance, tradition, and a whole lot of wine. On Prophecy Radio episode #149, Karen and Kristen discuss Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3, "We Board the Princess Andromeda." They still don't have much news to discuss, but there was more than enough to talk about between the episode and recapping all the most interesting behind-the-scenes facts from the Official Percy Jackson Podcast. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. Quick news segment Rick posted two photo dumps on Insta with some behind the scenes bits and memories from when they were shooting and prepping for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3 discussion (00:07:28) Clarisse goes full warrior when confronted with the creepiness of the Oracle. We dig deep about why we think they chose Clarisse to read the prophecy to Clarisse. Clarisse doesn't share the whole prophecy with us... interesting. Let's check out this cruise ship... Why doesn't Tyson have similar powers to Percy (versions of Poseidon's abilities)? Percy chooses trust over anger and we are both impressed with his maturity. The return of "boon"! Clarisse and Ares get some screen time together for the first time. Clarisse's quest isn't really a quest since she's alone. Adam Copeland is really the very best Ares we could have hoped for. We hope we see this godly greeting thing between demigods again. Allison Simms falls overboard, but it's not goodbye. Mitch from Blockbuster might be the best new addition to this series. Was Annabeth invoking "boon" because of the Great Prophecy or was it just to keep Percy from killing Luke so soon? Kronos smells worse than monsters to Tyson. The children of the gods deserve freedom (demigods, monsters, et al) but what about humans? We learn so much from this convo with Luke, Annabeth, and Percy. Tyson saves the day by building a bomb?! Clarisse gets a Braveheart speech, and its the perfect motivation for her crew. Annabeth goes rogue and gives Percy the bare bones of the Great Prophecy. "What do you think?" We think there are SO many layers to that question. Scenes from next week: Annabeth looks in a sewer, Clarisse and Percy fight on the beach, Thalia makes an appearance (must be a flashback), we get our first look at the Sea of Monsters. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast highlights (01:25:54) Dior Goodjohn is the major guest in this episode. Even the official podcast has a fatal flaw. Aryan got to train with the camera department during this episode. How cool that the kids get to learn both the art and technical side of filmmaking. Dior talks about Clarisse's backstory, and especially her mom. Bad parental relationship representation is as important as a good one. Motley crew of loser soldiers for the win. The creation of Blockbuster Mitch is a perfect Rick-Riordan-esque addition. That sea shanty came together on set after shifting it away from being too dirgy. Will every episode 3 start with the Oracle in the attic? Allison Simms will give us more and more understanding of Luke and what's going on in his head. Craig Silverstein explains how they go about deciding what to keep and what to cut from the books. Adam Copeland calls in from England and talks about Ares motivations as a father and how he relates to this storyline with Clarisse as a father in the real world. Adam is definitely an actor in our book. Listener Feedback (01:46:12) Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 150 (!!), where we'll recap Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 4, as well as the next episode of the Official Percy Jackson Podcast. Sometimes the biggest creative breakthroughs start with a mistake, and no one proves that better than Massimo Bottura. The three-Michelin-star chef behind some of the world's most iconic dishes built his reputation on turning accidents, constraints, and tradition itself into something entirely new. In this episode, we break down his marketing lessons with the help of our special guest Abel Grünfeld, VP of Marketing at Riverside.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from transforming mistakes into memorable stories, using constraints to spark better ideas, and leading with calm adaptability when things inevitably go off script.About our guest, Abel GrünfeldAbel Grunfeld is Riverside's VP of marketing and first employee. He is a growth strategy expert, specializing in scaling our digital presence and building an efficient marketing pipeline. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Massimo Bottura:Turn mistakes into magnetic storytelling. Massimo Bottura's most iconic dish was born from a dropped lemon tart, which is proof that imperfections can become brand-defining moments. Abel explains, “ [It's] very inspiring to take this high stress environment… and transform it into something that actually is unique, much more creative, much more powerful in terms of storytelling.” In B2B, the same principle applies. When a campaign breaks, a launch misfires, or a plan goes sideways, don't hide it. Shape it into a story. Audiences connect most with brands that reveal the creative, human process behind the work. Your “oops” moment might become your most memorable asset.Use constraints to fuel creativity. In high-pressure kitchens, limitations create innovation, not less of it. Abel notes, “Your constraints are your advantage… By being very intentional and aware of what your constraints and disadvantages are, you can be really focused on how to use these to actually create some sort of playing field where you can be more successful.” B2B teams often don't have unlimited budgets, bandwidth, or time. That's not a disadvantage, that's focus. Constraints sharpen your narrative, strengthen your positioning, and force bold creative choices. The boundaries become the catalyst.Plan for surprises and lead through them. Massimo Bottura thrives by embracing unpredictability, treating chaos as a space for invention. Abel shares, “You always plan, but you cannot always control the outcomes… you need to plan to be surprised… and  to figure out how you make the most out of any situation.” For B2B marketers, this is the mindset shift. Markets shift. Teams change. Campaigns don't go as expected. The brands that win are the ones that stay calm, adapt quickly, and turn the unexpected into momentum. Build flexibility into your strategy so you can transform disruption into differentiation.Quote“Real creativity, very often, it's a coincidence of different factors.  There's an unintentionality behind creation that when you plan everything out, you'll never come to that result. When you allow space for exploration, for playfulness, for doing things that you never planned… sometimes they're better than what you actually can envision and visualize yourself.” Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Abel Grünfeld, VP of Marketing at Riverside [00:52] Why Massimo Bottura?[01:59 The Role of VP of Marketing at Riverside[03:02] Behind the Scenes of Massimo Bottura: The Italian Culinary Genius[14:58] Marketing Lessons from Massimo Bottura[26:19] Where are B2B Companies at with Video?[32:07] The Importance of Video Content[41:34] Content Strategy at Riverside[44:47] Simplifying Video Production[47:07] Consolidating Video Creation Tools[49:07] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Abel on LinkedInLearn more about RiversideAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company.
