On Episode 57, Whits and RA open up discussing the MVP-quality performance from Brad Marchand, shrinking crowds in Detroit, the free-falling Senators and corresponding trade chatter, the official retirement of Chris Neil, and much more. The fellas then welcome Tim Jackman to the show to explain his interesting side of the long-percolating beatdown of Whits that resulted in one of hockey's greatest photos. He talks about how, when trying to break into the National, he was not only asked to fight much more but also was told he needed to start winning more. He nearly scored a hat trick and almost tied the game on the final shootout attempt. Current Anaheim Ducks Ryan Getzlaf, Andrew Cogliano, and Clayton Stoner also participated in the event. Selanne joins our show to talk about the Fedorin Cup, the Anaheim Ducks, his future, and more. We continue the show by providing updates on Antoine Vermette, Rickard Rakell, Tim Jackman, and Sudarshan Maharaj. We also discuss the World Cup of Hockey, Ducks night at Angel Stadium, and J.D. In this special 51st Puckin Hostile Shoutcast, the Brian Campbell Episode, the Hostile team talk about the Trade Deadline moves in Chicago, and around the league. The group discuss the following: -The Andrew Ladd trade -The Tomas Fleischmann / Dale Weise trade -The Christian Ehrhoff trade. -The Drew MacIntyre trade. -The Tim Jackman trade. -Several of the notable NHL trades. -As always, an abundance of inappropriate references and jokes in incredibly bad taste.
Since the off season the Anaheim Ducks have several players to their roster. Anaheim traded for Carl Hagelin from the New York Rangers and then traded for Kevin Bieksa from the Vancouver Canucks. The Ducks then added free agent Shawn Horcoff with a one year deal to help fill Nate Thompson's spot while he is out for the first couple of months of the season. Most recently the Ducks signed free agents Brian McGrattan and Chris Stewart. If you look at the Ducks roster now, then you will notice it is filled with tough guys. Last season Tim Jackman and Chris Stewart both had 11th fights which was 7th in the league. Clayton Stoner was right behind them with 10 fights last year. Patrick Maroon engaged in 9 fights last season. Kevin Bieksa was in just 4 fights last year, but he usually engages in about 6-7 a year. The total number of fights between these five players was 45 last year, which is the same number the ENTIRE Ducks team had last season. The Ducks squad was 6th highest in the league for number of fights. Also McGrattan was added to the team, but he mainly played in the AHL last season and had just one fight. In his career he has had 258 fights (Includes NHL, AHL, & OHL). He averages 14 fights per season. So does this mean we have an Anaheim Fight Club? Eddy and I tackle this issue and discuss the recent signings of Stewart and McGrattan. We also answer several fans questions. Lastly we discuss some news around the NHL as well.
After the Anaheim Ducks made a move sending Devante Smith-Pelly to the Montreal Canadiens for Jiri Sekac, another move was made for another forward Tomas Fleischmann. We discuss the impact of this trade on team and how the possible offensive lines may look going forward. The big question now with the Ducks acquiring two forwards is where does that leave Matt Beleskey? Several teams have been calling Bob Murray showing interest in Beleskey. The Ducks have tried to work out a deal with Beleskey, but one has not been reached yet. Eddy and I give you are opinion of what we think will happen. We give you our thoughts on what players Murray should try to go after. We also cover the other moves the Ducks have made like the re-signing of Tim Jackman and Rene Bourque being placed on waivers.
Today the Anaheim Ducks made a move sending Devante Smith-Pelly to the Montreal Canadiens for Jiri Sekac. The Ducks also re-signed Tim Jackman and sent Ilya Bryzgalov to the AHL. We analyze all the moves by the Ducks and discuss what else Bob Murray could do before the trade deadline. We also talk about the line shuffling of the Ducks with the twins playing on separate lines. We cover the several milestones achieved by Ducks' players this week. Additionally we look ahead to the playoffs and what the Ducks need to do to have success in the post season. Finally we discuss the return of the Gulls and the success of HockeyFest in San Diego. If you want to write for us about the Gulls and/or the Ducks then email us at ducksnpucks@usa.com.
