Holley Gerth is an expert on introversion and extroversion and what a great conversation we had, I loved it! Every bit of it. I feel like I learned so much about myself, about kids that I counsel, it was fascinating! She said one question that I think would be a game changer in understanding kids. So make sure you listen all the way through. At the very end, she had some incredible ideas for helping introverted kids who might feel a bit overwhelmed in going to church. So hang in there to the very end, this episode is packed full of good stuff! Questions Holley recommends you ask the family members in your home: What does happiness feel to you? What would make this (Christmas) holiday feel happy to you? What would make this vacation/holiday feel happy to you? What do you think would make it hardest for you? What is one thing you want to make sure we do? What is one thing you're worried that we may have to do? How can I keep the stimulation of this event at a manageable level for my kid? Where is your level at right now, what do you need to feel more comfortable? How can I love you well right now? What is one small shift/step that we can make as a family today? This week we have Matt Nathanson joining the fellas for a chat that dives into MySpace nostalgia, discussions about Hugh Grant-level hair, and the general 'churn' of parenting – sometimes involving mooning your daughter from the garage. The banter is sharp, the compliments are lavish (especially about Matt's violently attractive looks), and the self-deprecating humor flows freely. This week, Jason is joined by radio personality, author, TV host, and all around trailblazer, Bobby Bones! Bobby rose to national fame with the Bobby Bones Show, a nationally syndicated radio show that redefined country radio and became a staple for millions of listeners across the US. He's a two time New York Times bestselling author, a Dancing With the Stars Champion, and beloved mentor on American Idol. But Bobby's story isn't just about success, it's about grit, resilience, and staying true to your roots while chasing something bigger. Bobby opens up about how his upbringing shaped his perspective and became a strength in his career, the resilience that helps him cut through the noise, and why he decided to build his own syndication company with his own money. He shares the story behind the infamous “Go Away Bobby Bones” billboards, the “illegal” training he did to sharpen his moves for Dancing With the Stars, and what proving value really means to him. Bobby also breaks down the benefits of long-form content over TV for career longevity, why he was scared of debt even after making his first million at 30, and the key differences between radio and podcasting. From the importance of owning your IP, to why he considers Taylor Swift a genius, to the artists and interviews that stand out most in his career—Bobby doesn't hold back. Plus, he reveals who makes it onto his personal Mount Rushmore and gives a rare glimpse into his personal life. Bobby reveals all this and so much more in another episode you can't afford to miss! We're so excited about this episode, because we want every kid who may be extroverted or introverted to know that their gifts are amazing and that their limitations are amazing too! We're going to talk about 3 things parents of extroverted and introverted girls need to know and 3 things parents of extroverted and introverted boys need to know. There's a great book that we both love, The Hidden Gifts of the Introverted Child, by Marti Olsen Laney. Listen to this description of the differences, introverts generally prefer stimulation in small manageable doses whereas extroverts seek lots of action and excitement. An introvert may pursue topics in depth, while an extrovert may be more oriented toward breadth. An introvert may need time to process his/her emotions before responding. An extrovert is more likely to react in the moment. We've seen a lot of evidence of this being true. Another book we love, called Quiet, which also revolutionized my perspective on it, and I recommend it to parents of introverts all the time. . . . . . . We've seen your comments and it's time to respond… We talk about fall vibes (yes to nutmeg, no to matcha!), the amish lol, Justin Bieber's new album, why I'm maybe ready to move to Vermont, and how Kaleb is surviving law school while low-key stressing.
We are so excited about this new series! It is something we wanted to talk about for a really long time. It's something we talk about in our offices with kids and families all the time in our parent consultations. One of the single biggest obstacles when growing up can be not knowing or understanding our personality. Understanding your personality can change the game in parenting and in early development. Parenting Personalities is a series for understanding more of yourself, understanding your kids personalities. We will do a deep dive into Enneagram numbers, Birth order, Extroverts/ Introverts and Attachment styles in this series and a host of other surprises. Experience Growth and Grace individually and growth and grace for the entire family. . . . . . . So many of us have walked through unexpected seasons of grief and loss. When those seasons hit, it feels impossible to know how to put one foot in front of the other or we don't know how to best support our friends through it. Today we answer, “What do I do when my season suddenly shifts?” Kate and I met a couple of months ago when I was on the road for a speaking event. She has walked through the tragic death of her adult son and has SO generously agreed to share with us what she wished someone had shared with her when that pain was fresh. Whether you've dealt with a similar situation or you're close to someone who has, I encourage you to lean in to the perspective and encouragement Kate shares with us about what it looks like to honor and grieve and keep living and keep loving even when we don't think we have it in us. If you're following along in your TSF Seasons Guidebook, we're on page 92 (*we moved this date*). The guidebook is available for you at anniefdowns.com/seasons. Ya'll it was the first time in history that we have had a contestant from the Bachelor, and let me tell you in my counseling office how many years I've been talking about the Bachelor. So one of my questions was at what age and should moms and girls watch it together. And she had some great thoughts along the line. We are super excited for you to hear this conversation with Madi Prewett Troutt. I want you to stick around to the end. Because there was this incredible moment, where she was talking about if you are parenting a baby you love who is just sitting in a poopy diaper right now covered in food. What that moment could teach you about the heart of God. Madison “Madi” Prewett Troutt, is a speaker, TV personality, host of the Stay True podcast, and bestselling author of Made for This Moment, The Love Everybody Wants, and Dare to Be True. She has a degree in communications from Auburn University and a certificate in ministry in pastoral leadership through Highlands College. Madi and her husband, Grant, live in Nashville, Tennessee, where they enjoy engaging in their local church, serving their community, and loving on their baby girl, Hosanna Rose. This week it's just the girls and we're chatting about mama guilt, anxiety, and the Groundhog Day grind of shuttling kids from A to B (and then C… and then D). Sarah shares the two-month Ocean update, Teresa is counting down the days till baby, and we take a moment to celebrate a few Palmer family highlights. We also get into our very rational (and maybe not-so-rational) fears of water, and talk about finding little ways to slow down in the middle of the never ending chaos of life-ing with so many kids! Brooks Nader joins me to talk about her family's new Hulu show Love Thy Nader , which is already being called the new KUWTK. We get into growing up conservative in Baton Rouge, going to church camp, becoming a Sports Illustrated's It-girl, and now letting cameras capture all the chaos of living with her sisters (in the gorgeous penthouse she pays for). We talk about getting divorced at 25, the messy breakup with Gleb (threesomes, love-bombing, and all). She spills on fame, family drama, and whether she's ready for the Naders to become reality TV's next dynasty. This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Today I'm unpacking the viral teen drama The Summer I Turned Pretty — but from a Christian perspective. Let's be honest, the show is EVERYWHERE. From team debates (Conrad vs. Jeremiah) to dreamy beach scenes, it's got everyone hooked… but is it actually healthy for us to watch? I get super real about what the show glamorizes — from toxic love triangles to pre-marital sex — and why it's so easy to get caught up in fictional love stories. I also talk about emotional purity and how women especially can fall into fantasy traps that pull us away from truth.

Welcome back to the Dare to be True Series on Stay True Podcast! Today, Madi is joined by John Elmore, Teaching Pastor at Harris Creek Baptist Church and author of “Freedom Starts Today”. This conversation is all about the seriousness of sin: why it matters, how it impacts our relationship with God, and the hope we have in Christ to be set free. John unpacks the subtle ways we can minimize or justify sin and points us back to God's holiness, grace, and forgiveness. Together, Madi and John talk honestly about confession, repentance, and the freedom that only comes when we stop hiding and start walking in the light. Join Jim and Greg for a special Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they welcome Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee for Mayor of New York City. They'll discuss the Sliwa agenda, his deeply flawed opponents, and how he plans to win in November.First, Sliwa walks us through his top priorities if he's elected mayor and how he would get things done with a city council that would not be very enthusiastic about his policies.Next, Sliwa takes on his three rivals for the job: Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and current Mayor Eric Adams. Sliwa explains why each of them is unworthy of the job and why the city would decline if any of them are elected. Finally, Sliwa tells us how he plans to defy the current polls, expose the failures and terrible plans of his opponents, and motivate a special coalition of voters to help him get elected. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. durée : 00:10:34 - 1945. Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they dissect the horrific Minnesota shooting of kids at a Catholic church and school on Thursday. They're also glad to see that a Wisconsin judge will not get the charges dropped for helping an illegal alien escape from ICE, and they react to another weak move from Democrat Abigail Spanberger in the Virginia governor's race.First, they walk through the details of the Minneapolis shooting, how prominent Democrats sneered at the idea of praying for victims and their families and immediately called for gun control, and how this is another mass shooting perpetrated by a killer identifying as transgender.Next, they're glad a federal judge rejected the argument that Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan should be immune from prosecution for helping an illegal alien escape from her courthouse. Dugan's lawyers say she should not be charged over doing her official duties. The judge overseeing the case wisely countered that helping someone avoid arrest or being served a warrant is not a duty that ought to win immunity for Dugan. Finally, they shake their heads as Democrat Abigail Spanberger steps on another rake in the Virginia governor's race. Now Spanberger says she will end the cooperation between the Virginia State Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agreed to by current governor Glenn Youngkin. The news also prompts them to take a closer look at the state of the race and the media's coverage of Spanberger. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. Stassi is at the epic Vanderpump Villa with special guest Maria Georges (yes, the almost-Bachelorette), and the conversation is equal parts spooky and soul-baring. Maria shares why she turned down becoming the Bachelorette—proving the power of saying no. They swap stories on relationships (including a Travis Kelce/ Taylor Swift–style dynamic that just works), compare star signs, and laugh over the Mandela Effect moments that still blow their minds. But the villa has its own spooky energy: gunshot echoes, ghost stories, and Maria's very first “spooky origin story” about her lifelong love of the eerie and unknown. In true Stassi fashion, they keep it fun—laughing through childhood horror obsessions and plotting this year's niche family Halloween costumes. Thanks for supporting our sponsors:Boll and Branch: Get 15% off plus free shipping on your first set of sheets at BollAndBranch.com/stassi. Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch as they note Americans overwhelmingly see a crime problem in the U.S. and a majority likes how Trump is dealing with it. They also wince as Trump welcomes 600,000 Chinese college students into the U.S., and roll their eyes at the left's absurd "land acknowledgements."First, they're glad to see that 81 percent of Americans have the common sense to see that crime is a major problem. That includes 68 percent of Democrats. In addition, 53 percent of Americans approve of how President Trump is dealing with crime. This makes the Democrats' assertions that there really isn't a crime problem in our major cities look utterly ridiculous.Next, they cringe as President Trump says he is perfectly fine allowing 600,000 Chinese students study at American colleges and universities this year. Jim and Greg fume about the American students who suffer a result, and they point out what the Chinese government expects from their students when returning from the U.S.Finally, they shake their heads as the DNC national meeting kicked off with a "land acknowledgement," where someone explains which tribal nation had the land before European settlers allegedly took it from them. It's shameless virtue signaling, but is it backfiring for Democrats and could this practice ever have much more serious implications? Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday's 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into how the Kamala Harris campaign's extravagant spending left the DNC paying her debts, President Trump's efforts to force Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and famed rapper Snoop Dogg getting fed up at LGBT content getting shoved into movies for kids.First, their jaws hit the floor as the New York Times reports that Kamala Harris spent $1.5 billion over a 15-week campaign and DNC had to pay her outstanding debts. There is no silver lining for the Dems from the Harris campaign, and Jim explains why he does not expect her to run in 2028.Next, they dig into the standoff between President Trump and Lisa Cook of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Trump says Cook is fired for falsely claiming two different homes as her primary residence within a couple of weeks. Cook is refusing to leave the Fed. So, this is headed to court and Jim says Trump might not have the legal high ground here. Finally, they react to Snoop Dogg getting mad that a same-sex couple with a baby was included in the new kids' movie Lightyear. It's part of the Toy Story franchise. The rapper and ubiquitous media figure says his young grandson peppered him with questions about how that could happen, and he was unprepared to answer. Snoop Dogg says that content should not be in movies geared for children, so of course many of the left are now denouncing him. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference. Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they hammer California Gov. Gavin Newsom for his endless Trump-style tweets and failed spin on crime, sound the alarm over President Trump's push for more deals like the one the government made with Intel, and highlight Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed's disturbing campaign rhetoric.First, they rip into Newsom's tired routine of mimicking Trump on social media and his claim that cities in red state have worse murder rates than California's major cities. What he leaves out is that those cities have been run by Democrats for decades.Next, they explain why President Trump grabbing 10 percent of Intel for the federal government is a terrible move and a very bad precedent to set. There are much better ways to grow the semiconductor industry in the U.S. Even worse, Trump is vowing to make many more deals like this. Finally, they spotlight Michigan's Abdul El-Sayed, a far-left Senate hopeful closely aligned with Bernie Sanders and openly hostile to Israel. El-Sayed urges his followers to fight dirty in politics, telling them to “get in the mud and choke them out.”Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference.
