Lots of news coming out of Winnipeg over the past few days as we might have a trade coming, their captain staying and their star goalie out with an injury. The Maple Leafs continue to be active on the trade market as they look to overcome their slow start to the season. No suspension was given to Rantanen, however we did see a major suspension come out in the OHL. Injuries are a part of the game, some are normal and some are quite unusual.

Yes, it's true. Coaches are hired to be fired. But the decisions to fire one guy just because you can't fire 20 sometimes leave us scratching our heads, and that may never be more evident than now, as we find Mathieu Turcotte on the free agent market. He's got a decade-plus experience in the Q, a Coach of the Year trophy with a U18 AAA team, a Telus Cup, and a silver medal from the Canada Winter Games. He also spent last summer coaching some of the best young players in Canada at the World U17s, U18s, and Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, coming home with two gold medals and a bronze. You'll appreciate these insights into coaching the modern athlete, preparing as a modern coach, and remembering some harrowing road trips in the Q. Plus, Turcotte brings us his own unique perspective on the OHL'ers we're watching today, having coached Beckham Edwards, Alessandro Di Iorio, Gavin Betts, and Ethan Belchetz. We'll break down Jett Luchanko's return to the OHL, Trevor Zegras's point-per-game tear (and his postgame antics), and whether the Flyers' crease is finally stabilized — with Dan Vladar holding opponents to under two goals a game and Sam Ersson stacking back-to-back wins despite a few sketchy goals. We'll also take a look at Tocchet's evolving goalie rotation, share some quick thoughts on the Frozen Frenzy chaos, and spotlight two key young guns: Tyson Foerster's all-around play and Bobby Brink's emerging confidence. Plus, how's the Jamie Drysdale–Nick Seeler pairing really holding up?It's all here — the hot takes, the humor, and the honest breakdowns — in another episode of High and Wide Radio.

In episode 308 of the Glass and Out Podcast we welcome Alan Letang, the Head Coach of the OHL's Sarnia Sting. Letang is still in the front 9 of his coaching career, and as you'll hear, when he decided that coaching was his chosen career post retirement, he immersed himself in all facets of the job. And it's paid off. After 2.5 seasons as an Assistant Coach in Owen Sound, he was promoted to the role of Head Coach. This would eventually lead him home to Sarnia, where he is getting set to lead the Sting for a 5th season, and one in which the expectations are high. Internationally, he has represented Canada multiple times, beginning as an Assistant Coach at the 2020 and 2023 World Junior Championships, as the Head Coach of Canada's entry at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and finally as the Head Coach of Team Canada at the 2024 World Junior Championships. Listen as he shares his philosophy on setting players up for success after a mistake, finding the fine line between physicality and discipline, and how he's approaching the changing landscape of junior hockey.
