When you're preparing for a trip, especially if it's a racecation, do you get travel insurance just in case? I've never thought about getting travel insurance, but after talking to travel experts Tom Leddy and Carol Valls, I may have to start rethinking that policy. Traveling for a race can be great fun, but dealing with jet lag when traveling across time zones can really impact your performance on race day. Today, I'm joined once again by travel experts Tom Leddy and Carol Valls to discuss how to quickly adjust to the time zone of your destination in order to help you get the rest you need to have a great race. My biggest issue when traveling to a race tends to revolve around food. While restaurants options are typically available, restaurant food is almost always overpriced and less than ideal in terms of nutrient density. Not to mention the possibility of eating something outside of your norm and the chance that it "disagrees" with you during your race. On this week's QT, I'm welcoming travel experts Tom Leddy and Carol Valls back again to talk about eating well when traveling for a race. Turns out, it's not as difficult as you might think... In keeping with the "everything is better with friends" spirit around here, we decided to do something different for our podcast the week of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We rounded up four of our friends running this year's Chicago Marathon: Matt Linder (previously interviewed here), Kristen Heckert, Tom Leddy and our fearless leader Jeana Anderson Cohen. Among this group, we had two first-time marathoners and two runners familiar with the 26.2 grind. Kristen Heckert is a local pro who competed at the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials and currently spends her off-time coaching high school runners. Don't let her humble tone fool you- she's an incredibly accomplished runner.

Tom Leddy works for a beer company (I’m not going to specify, since he didn’t in the show) as a “problem-solver.” But he had his own problem. He couldn’t bend over to tie his shoes.  In high school, he was an athlete. But college taught him the joys–and side effects–of excessive living, and his athletic ...
