Put Business Agreements in Writing One of McDonald's strongest business lessons is that successful relationships and ventures require documentation, structure, and professionalism. 10. Everyone Has a Personal Brand Whether you're an employee, entrepreneur, or executive, you are constantly creating a brand. Your reliability, appearance, communication, and consistency shape how others see you. 11. Build Your Brand Through Consistency Strong brands are predictable and dependable. Market Yourself McDonald encourages listeners to confidently communicate their value and accomplishments. In today's digital world, people must be willing to promote their strengths and expertise. 13. Be an Eagle, Not a Chicken One of the presentation's most memorable analogies contrasts eagles and chickens. Eagles represent ambition, excellence, leadership, and growth, while chickens symbolize settling for routine, low expectations, and mediocrity. 14. Create a Roadmap for Success McDonald outlines a simple framework for achievement: Set a goal. Make a plan. Get to work. Stick to it. Reach the goal. 15. Success Requires Communication Strong communication skills are critical in business and life. Listening is just as important as speaking. 16. When does being genuinely unsure about someone become stringing him along? Are we avoiding rejection—or simply avoiding an uncomfortable conversation? Why do we sometimes want someone more the minute they start pulling away? Can you have a roster of casual guys without actually benching anybody? Have dating apps conditioned us to constantly look for the next best thing? Is being slowly benched actually worse than being ghosted? And when you finally know someone isn't right for you, do you owe him the truth? It's funny, revealing and occasionally uncomfortable as Steve, Jeremy and Kodi admit that when it comes to dating badly, most of us probably aren't completely innocent. Because sometimes the problem isn't the guy who put us on the bench. Sometimes we're the coach. Hot Topic: New Bathhouse in Birmingham, YUMBO offers both bar for LGBTQ plus upstairs bathhouse... Who knew The Guys were handymen? Mechanics. Consultants, if you will. And this week they are here to fix Dr. Who. Of course, it's mostly Robbie with his hands on the dials, but Art and Jay do have opinions. Is it back to basics? Pleasing the core fans? More tech and modern effects, or less? They all agreed that characters and story make the difference. And they are willing to move to England and be co-show-runners if the BBC will cover the tab. Since that's somewhat unlikely, there is a backup plan: travel just a couple of hours and check out the new Lego store in our capital city, the first in the state. And they can watch trailers along the way: Doomsday, Spider-Man, and even the scary Jessica Chastain movie. Listen to this episode (and the 390+ that came before it) and perhaps you, too, can fix Guys of a Certain Age.

Bone health is one of those midlife topics that many women don't think about until a DEXA scan shows osteopenia or osteoporosis — and suddenly they're handed a prescription, told to take calcium, and left wondering, "Wait… is that it?" In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne is joined by functional medicine nutritionist Cindy Dupuie for an eye-opening conversation about bone density, menopause, estrogen, DEXA scans, osteoporosis medications, and why women need to become stronger advocates for their own health. Cindy brings more than 20 years of experience in functional medicine, nutrition, digestion, thyroid health, lab work, and menopausal support. Together, Lynne and Cindy discuss why waiting until age 65 for a first DEXA scan may not be ideal for many women, especially because significant bone loss often occurs in the first decade after menopause. They also explore important risk factors for early bone loss, including family history, low body fat during key bone-building years, eating disorders, intense athletic activity, long-term steroid use, low vitamin D, and other pieces that are often overlooked. In This Episode: Lynne and Cindy talk about why bone density matters so much for long-term independence, mobility, and quality of life. They also discuss why Cindy recommends women consider getting a baseline DEXA scan earlier than the standard recommendation, especially if they have risk factors. You'll also hear about two important bone-turnover markers — CTX and P1NP — and how they may help provide a clearer picture of whether bone loss is being driven more by breakdown or lack of formation. Cindy shares why resistance training, muscle maintenance, and certain types of movement can be so important for bone strength. Lynne and Cindy also discuss estrogen's role in bone protection, why the Women's Health Initiative study created lasting confusion around hormone therapy, and why individualized conversations with a knowledgeable provider matter. This episode also includes an honest conversation about osteoporosis medications, including bisphosphonates, how they work, why they're commonly prescribed, and why women may want to ask informed questions about risks, benefits, duration of use, and monitoring before making decisions. Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder that you deserve more than rushed answers. You deserve to understand your options, ask better questions, and participate fully in decisions about your bone health, hormones, and future mobility.

Bestselling novelist Jane Green returns to A Certain Age with her memoir Rewilding, an evocative, transportive account of packing her suitcases, moving to Marrakesh, and reimagining life at 55. She gets real about friendship—who deserves access to you, why your friendships are either lifting you or limiting you, and what it feels like to finally stop needing everyone's approval. You'll finish this episode with a new lens on your own life. Let's go, beauties.
Steve V. and Kodi are back in studio for a fun, sexy Pride Week follow-up conversation. Steve and Kodi continue the Pride Week conversation by asking: What happens when sex stops feeling shameful and starts feeling like yours? The hosts talk about entering their shameless era — becoming more confident, more direct, and more honest about what turns them on. The hosts talk about the founder of Nasty Pig, David Lauterstein and embracing his Daddy era and his nudge to his fellow men of a certain age to get out and just be confident wherever you are... From flirting and DMs to hookups, attraction, confidence, and knowing what you want, Steve and Kodi explore how sex changes as gay men get older. They discuss the difference between youthful sexual energy and earned sexual confidence — and why getting older can actually make you bolder, sexier, and less apologetic. The conversation gets into what they're no longer embarrassed about, what turns them on now, and how confidence itself may be the ultimate kink. Plus: Pride, aging, desire, directness, daddy energy, and the freedom of no longer needing to be everyone's fantasy. It's Pride Week, and we're talking about belonging — not just to a community, but to ourselves as gay men. We ask: When did sex stop feeling shameful and start feeling freeing? Steve, Kodi, and Sebastian explore how gay bars, Pride, hookups, leather spaces, chosen family, and queer community helped shape their confidence. The hosts get honest about sexual shame, body image, desire, kink, aging, and the pressure to be “desirable” in gay spaces. We discuss how getting older can bring a deeper, sexier confidence — knowing what you want, what you don't, and no longer apologizing for either. Plus: the beauty and complexity of Pride — celebration, protest, flirtation, connection, and yes, a little shamelessness. We Will Not Be Aging Quietly: Claiming Your Most Powerful Season with Katie Fogarty Description: What if the years everyone warned you about turned out to be the ones you'd been waiting for? Today, Jen and Amy sit down with Katie Fogarty—a former journalist, career coach, and the voice behind one of the most vibrant midlife podcasts in the country, called A Certain Age—for an honest, energizing hour about what it really means to thrive in this season. Katie launched A Certain Age thirty-five days before her 51st birthday with one mission: blow up the narrative that women become less relevant as they get older. Five years and 230-plus episodes later, she's interviewed hundreds of midlife women—and she has thoughts. Big ones. They dig into the myths about midlife that refuse to die, why Katie calls this season an "accelerant" rather than an obstacle, what it looks like when women stop waiting for permission and start claiming their lives—and what she's hearing that gives her real hope for the women coming behind us. If you've ever felt like midlife was quietly trying to make you smaller—this episode is your push back. Thought-provoking Quotes: “Sometimes the word ‘reinventing' implies we're completely changing our lives and getting rid of everything that came before. It's more about reimagining, because we're drawing on all of our expertise to apply it in new ways, big and small.” – Katie Fogarty “Midlife is that moment where you say, let me get going. The kids are grown, the career maybe is established, life is sort of on track, moving forward, and we have this moment with space in our brain, maybe on our calendar, to actually hit go on whatever it is we've been thinking about for so long.” – Katie Fogarty “If you are feeling disconnected from relationships, or like you're not being supported, find people that you are visible to. There are communities of people out there who care about what you care about, who want to see you, who will see you.” – Katie Fogarty Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Jen's first colonoscopy - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWz8nTvgo6p/ Sophie Grégoire Trudeau on Life, Emotional Regulation and Midlife Reinventions - https://www.acertainagepod.com/shows/sophie-grgoire-trudeau-on-life-emotional-regulation-and-midlife-reinventions Tamsen Fadal - https://www.tamsenfadal.com/ Grown Woman Talk: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy by Dr. Sharon Malone - https://amzn.to/4t14kQY The New Perimenopause: What's Actually Happening to Your Body with Dr. Mary Claire Haver - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-64/the-new-perimenopause-whats-actually-happening-to-your-body-with-dr-mary-claire-haver/ When Life Happens: The Mindset Shift You Need to Manage Stress, Build Confidence, and Break Free by Dr. Rachel Goldman - https://amzn.to/4mnvZsY Midlife Private Parts: Revealing Essays That Will Change the Way You Think About Age - https://www.midlifeprivateparts.com/ The Midlife Book Club - https://www.themidlifebookclub.com/about Jen Hatmaker Book Club - https://shop.jenhatmaker.com/collections/book-club Sandwich by Catherine Newman - https://amzn.to/3QauFNM Same As It Ever Was by Claire Lombardo - https://amzn.to/4mkK8XI The Grand Paloma Resort: A Novel by Cleyvis Natera - https://amzn.to/4meEQNi The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin - https://amzn.to/47MkGnX Guest's Links: Website - https://www.acertainagepod.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/acertainagepod/ Podcast - https://www.acertainagepod.com/episodes Connect with Jen!Jen's Website - https://jenhatmaker.com/ Jen's Instagram - https://instagram.com/jenhatmakerJen's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jenHatmaker/ Jen's Facebook - https://facebook.com/jenhatmakerJen's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/JenHatmaker The For the Love Podcast is presented by Audacy.
