All Things Among Us

We bring a new friend to the pod today, Jiyoo, who's actually been friends with Meghan for almost 10 years. Having known each other for almost half of their lives now, the two talk about friendships and some of their own friendships around them.

Bringing some new friends onto the pod today, we have Rebecca, Will, Matty, and Albert. Listen in to get to meet and join the chaotic energy of some new friends that inspired the reboot of this season.

To kick off the reboot of All Things Among Us, Meghan brings back Kim and they catch up all the listeners as to what's been up the past year. The two talk about what happened to the prior podcast group, the most recent trip to Vegas, and more.

In this new “season” or revamped podcast of All Things Among Us, Meghan brings to you a casual platform to chat and listen to quite literally all things that are among us.

In the last episode of the season, Among Us plays “Most Likely to...” so our viewers can get to know the members of Among Us a little better! They debate over strange and suggestive :o statements to determine who deserves that respective title and expose some of the members' personalities and characteristic traits beyond what the listeners have been hearing through the podcasts. In order to provide their listeners with a sneak peek of next season where they intend to invite more guest speakers and reveal a little more of themselves, Among Us thought that the activity was a suitable game for such a purpose. They want to thank you for listening and making it the last episode of our first season, and they hope you will stay for the next!

In this week's episode of Among Us, the members of Among Us are in the midst of what UC Berkeley refers to as “RRR Week”, and what their student label as “Dead Week” — a week where many students either, pre-COVID, would re-locate to the libraries and temporarily declare it their homes, or have the time of their lives partying and traveling. The members discuss some of their unhealthy and toxic study habits, and reminisce on some of the little joys of their past dead weeks. They also share some personal insight on how COVID has changed their preparation for finals week and the shift in their perspective on the overall purpose of “Dead Week”.

Holidays are often spent with family and friends and in many instances, Thanksgiving often creates a very nostalgic environment as it becomes a time to reflect on those we care for most. In this week's episode of Among Us, the members reminisce on their past and discuss the ways in which they have experienced personal growth both within the self and the way they present themselves to others. More importantly, they shout out some of the people who have helped them develop into who they are today and express great appreciation for the care and love many have shown them. Dating and relationships are not easy... especially for three members of Among Us. In this week's episode, the single members have united to discuss their perspective on and experiences with dating apps. Especially in a time where they are unable to physically meet people (not that they were having any luck pre-Covid), they question the prominence of dating apps in the near future. Stay tuned for a potential episode from Benjamin's and Eric's perspective as individuals in a relationship!

For a period of time, people in our generation seemed to be using Facebook less often and instead our parents, aunties, and grandparents began taking over the world of Facebook. In this week's episode, the members of Among Us discuss how Facebook viral meme pages like Subtle Asian Traits and other Berkeley pages brought back our own members to Facebook.

In this week's episode of Among Us, the 5 members are taking the time to acknowledge some of the main stressors present in their lives and discuss some of the healthy and unhealthy methods of their choice when dealing with stress. It is without doubt that many, if not all, have dealt with and are living with mental health issues that negatively impact their lifestyles, and they wanted to share some experiences of their own. Despite the source of your current emotions – whether it stems from school, family, the coronavirus, politics, etc. – please remember to take some time to take care of yourself. Everyone in Among Us is rooting for you!

In this week's episode, Among Us invites a special guest to join their discussion on Asian superstitions – Eric's ~partner in crime~ Tiffany! As always, they kick if off with quick updates on their weeks and while some of them are adopting cats, others are finishing up their midterms. As Asian-Americans, they often receive lectures from their parents of the various and interesting superstitions that exist within Asian culture. Whether it's sticking your chopsticks upright or flipping over fish, these superstitions don't seem to play a major role in their lifestyles, but some of their parents try to avoid these situations to the best of their abilities!

Whether it's between friends or in a professional setting, people constantly face conflicts that ultimately hinder productivity and threaten relationships. In this week's episode, the members discuss what they value, appreciate, and find most important when faced with confronting others or being confronted by others. Although everyone has their own method of tackling blocks and barriers within their relationships, being able to be straightforward and communicative about various issues can strengthen relationships. For those who we value and care for the most, it's important to learn and understand that confrontation and feedback doesn't and shouldn't have to be interpreted negatively — overcoming these discussions only prove the relationship to be stronger!

UC Berkeley is starting enrollment for Spring 2021 and with classes being held virtually for the Spring, students are putting extra thought into the classes they plan to take. The members discuss some of the most memorable experiences they've had with their majors and their classes — without failing to brutally recall and describe a variety of classes to their disliking. Whether it be classes for computer science, english, economics, psychology, philosophy, they learn to appreciate the invaluable experiences associated with a professor that manages to effectively engage their students and the importance of diversifying the classes taken despite one's major.

In this week's episode of Among Us, the members discuss their thoughts on and experiences with traveling. Upon sharing their travels, they discuss topics encompassing food, cultures, scenery, interactions and much more. Whether it's the airport itself or an eight hour road trip from city to city, their experiences with traveling remain as some of their most memorable moments with friends and family. Despite experiencing both unpleasant and pleasant experiences abroad, they are extremely grateful and appreciative of the opportunity to travel leisurely and plan trips with friends accordingly. Although they are disheartened by the effects of COVID on travel plans, they enjoyed reminiscing on the past and look forward for future trips to come!

Friends. Are they important and how can we develop them? In this week's episode of Among Us, the members discuss the friendships they have lost, reconciled, and gained, sharing valuable advice and input on what it means to have genuine relationships. They start on the topic of “small talk” and the necessity of it despite their liking towards it. They discuss their past friendships in high school and current ones from college, and more importantly, speak honestly about some of the more difficult and challenging aspects of maintaining relationships. They also take some time to reflect on their relationships with each other and although they have experienced gaps of their own, they are extremely glad to have met each other and continue to maintain a strong relationship through quarantine!

In this episode, the members of Among Us broadly track their personal progression with social media usage and account for the major developments and advancements seen in that industry today. As they reminisce upon their funny and embarrassing experiences with social media, they slowly come to the realization of their steady decline in their social media presence over time and try to understand why that is. To end on a more causal note, they share a couple of their favorite influencers and content creators in hopes that those watching can relate.

As concerns continue to rise over an ever-growing capitalistic society, the members of Among Us find themselves stuck in a cycle in which their aspirations and achievements appear to feed into a system more focused on money than justice. In this week's episode, they discuss why they experience difficulty in removing themselves from a capitalist system when some of their beliefs are strongly tied to liberal ideals. As they become increasingly aware of the ethical standards of various corporations, they become torn between financial “stability” and progressive politics. In a world dominated heavily by income and profits, how many are bold enough to act?

In the second episode of Among Us, the group introduces "Casual Chats", in which they discuss fun, casual, stress-relieving topics instead of providing advice or exploring more thought-provoking subjects. In this specific episode, they explore their favorite kinds of foods, restaurants they like to eat at at Berkeley, their experience with Cal Dining Halls, and more food-related issues.

In the first episode of Among Us, a group of 5 students from UC Berkeley come together to start a podcast in order to remain connected as they reflect on their past experiences. To kick off the new semester under unique circumstances, the group attempts to differentiate between pre-existing facts and myths when it comes to club culture, social expectations, and academics at Cal. They provide personal insights and perspectives on various aspects of our college experience — all in hopes of passing on some valuable advice and tips to those entering or attending college. But please remember that everyone's experience differs, so take the words with a grain of salt and be smart and confident with the decisions you make.
