Welcome back to the Texas News podcast, where we dive into all things Texas politics and the future of independence in the state of Texas. Many people think Texas is the only state with one foot out the door, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Believe it or not, there are other states where support for independence is surging and ready to hit the tipping point. In this episode, we examine the results of two recent polls that asked Americans if they would support their state gaining independence from the United States. The numbers are SHOCKING and the perfect slap in the face to the federal government. So, we explore which states are in the running for the title: “Most Likely to Secede” and why support is higher than the federal government is willing to admit. This is an exciting episode you won't want to miss!

The youngest of 13 children, Stephanie M. Jones spent her childhood in Detroit soaking up entrepreneurial skills as a shampoo girl for her single mother, who worked as a hairdresser and cosmetologist. In high school, she was voted “Best Dressed” and “Most Likely to Succeed” (thanks in part to her habit of wearing dresses and carrying a briefcase to school), and she vowed at an early age to be her own boss by the time she was 30 years old. Now, Jones is perhaps best known for her roles as the founder and CEO of the Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance (CHAT); the creator of the National Blacks and Tourism Collaborative; and a member of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board for the U.S. Department of Commerce. But she's also someone who — after many years of facing her own professional challenges — has made it her life's mission to serve others by creating a more equitable space for underserved groups, from single mothers to small business owners and everyone in between. In this episode of Humans of Travel, Jones dives into some of her early pursuits, from working as a secretary in a discriminatory work environment to her time marketing small businesses and creating My Daughter's Keeper, a nonprofit organization to help cultivate healthy relationships between mothers and their adolescent daughters. Listeners will also hear about Jones' latest mission: To create tangible opportunities for Black and Brown small businesses to market themselves and attract the attention of tourism industry stakeholders across the U.S. INSIDE THIS EPISODE 01:00 Meet Stephanie M. This week, we want to take a step back and focus on planning in times of economic uncertainty. We found a great article from CNBC titled "The Three Money Moves Wealthy Americans are Most Likely to Make in Times of Economic Uncertainty." Let's dive into the key points and expand on what successful people are doing during uncertain times.According to Northwest Mutual, 84% of the wealthiest Americans have a long-term financial plan that accounts for economic ups and downs, compared to only 52% of the general population. This statistic surprises us because it's rare for someone to walk in with a legitimate financial plan. Planning for the unknown is crucial to alleviate anxiety and ensure a smooth transition into retirement. When it comes to retirement, people often wonder how they will pay their bills and maintain their lifestyle. Financial planning helps remove this anxiety by providing a roadmap for the future. The more prepared you are, the more confident you'll be in your ability to navigate different scenarios. It's essential to test how the future could play out and understand how you will respond in various situations.A financial plan is not just about investments; it's about setting goals, developing strategies, and using the right tools. Many people focus solely on their investments without considering the bigger picture. It's crucial to understand why you're saving and what your retirement goals are. Picking the right retirement date and ensuring you have enough savings are essential factors to consider.Asset allocation is another critical aspect of planning for ups and downs. The stock market doesn't go straight up; there are ups and downs along the way. Taking a long-term perspective and having a diversified portfolio can help weather market volatility. It's important to remember that investing is a marathon, not a sprint.Seven out of ten wealthy Americans are working with an advisor. While not all advisors are created equal, one of the most significant benefits of working with an advisor is avoiding behavioral finance errors. Emotional investing can lead to poor decision-making, especially during market turbulence. An advisor provides a detached perspective and helps clients make rational choices based on logic and historical data.An advisor is like a retirement CFO, helping clients make informed financial decisions. They can assist with retirement timing, spending strategies, and even major financial decisions like home renovations. By having a coordinated plan that takes into account investments, taxes, and estate planning, clients can make better financial choices and optimize their long-term outcomes. It's not enough to have a plan; you must also follow through and execute it. The best time to go through the planning process is when the waters are calm. Crisis planning is not ideal, as it can lead to rushed decisions and poor outcomes. By having a well-mapped-out plan in advance, you can have confidence in its success.Financial plans should be regularly reviewed and updated to reflect changing circumstances. Factors like inflation, taxes, and health can impact your financial situation. By refreshing your plan annually, you can ensure that it remains aligned with your goals and adjust as needed. Building conservatism into the plan, using future projected rates of return, and considering tax efficiency are all crucial elements of staying committed to the plan.Remember, financial planning is not a one-time event; it's an ongoing process. Regularly reviewing and updating your plan ensures that it remains aligned with your goals and helps you make informed decisions. By following these three money moves, you can position yourself for financial security and peace of mind in times of economic uncertainty.A day in the life of a Financial Advisor:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tfB-SSYL1A

To some, they're Maks and Val from Dancing With The Stars; to Nikki & Brie, they're friends. This week, The Chmerkovskiy Brothers and The Garcia Twins sit down to talk about new adventures, growing up in the dance world, life away from DWTS, priorities as parents, the hustle, their current wine-tasting and dance project in Napa, Savor After Hours and you'll get to see Nikki & Brie on stage with them over Labor Day weekend. Maks and Val have an eight-year age difference; however, they have a lot of shared experiences growing up in Brooklyn, the hard work to succeed on the dance floor and their successes in ballroom dancing away from the cameras of Dancing With The Stars, what career paths they envision for their children, how their house was the social center of their friend groups and the longevity of performing on the dance floor as they move into new chapters of their careers. Maks shares that one of his favorite moments performing is when his wife, Peta, surprised him with their son, Shai, on stage at Radio City Music Hall for a special moment on stage. Nikki is certain that she'd prefer Matteo to choose dance over wrestling but wants him to see her in the ring one last time before she officially retires, something that Birdie was able to experience with Brie. Then Maks and Val play a friendly game of Most Likely as Nikki & Brie discover more similarities and differences between themselves and the Chmerkovskiy Brothers when it comes to sleep habits, paying for meals, collecting shoes, and being dramatic. To close out the episode, Maks and Val share their Inspiration & Affirmations as they each share different nuggets of wisdom that have helped them not just in their careers but in life as well. What is this — high school? These approval ratings are in a time where most of the country doesn't approve of virtually anything. This concept is so antiquated, the pollsters might as well ask the public, in the presidential race, to vote for "Best Dressed", "Most Likely To Succeed", "Cutest Couple", "Class Clown", "MVP", "Best Smile" and "Most Likely to Bring Back Canadian Beer Through the Windsor Tunnel." In this episode of Rumble, Michael Moore discusses the stupidity of presidential approval ratings and why it doesn't matter how low Biden's is because there still aren't enough Americans willing to return criminal defendant #4913961R to the White House. Says Mike, "Biden could run somebody over in the middle of 5th Avenue and it still won't matter. He will get a second term — and your brother-in-law is still not invited to Thanksgiving dinner this year."
