One simple answer One thousand different ways. Let's try to break the mental blocks that are keeping you from making your life the way you want it.
TikTok will destroy your life! In this episode of the It's The Booze Talking Podcast we talk about how addictive TikTok really is. Unfortunately many of the things that feel and taste the best in this world are also not the best for your health. You may binge on loads of pure sugar, smoke two packs of cigarettes a day and do a ball of coke on the weekends but at least you can still live your life. Not only is TikTok as addicting as all three of these things but it also requires your full and undivided attention. After yet another 3 or 4 hours of scrolling through the most entertaining nonsense you have ever seen, your business has failed, your wife has left you and that ball of coke is the only source of energy you have left. All jokes aside, you have wonder if TikTok is actually bad for your brain, for addiction and mental health. Is it a depression and anxiety causing app that is bad for society?
Caution is key when it comes to psychedelic mushrooms. Such a Profound experience should be approached with caution and with care. You wouldn't want to waste the incredible opportunity that mushrooms present by misusing or being careless with them. In this episode of the It's The Booze Talking Podcast, Nick wants to know if it is possible to get hurt taking mushrooms. Most psychedelic mushrooms are extremely safe and pose no physiological risks however, there are things to be cautious of to make sure that the experience goes smoothly. The last thing we want to do is scare anyone about psychedelics. They might be one of the most important areas of study and exploration in recent times and some would even argue of all time. They might be just what the doctor ordered for lots of folks in these trying times. We are not doctors or psychedelic experts so don't take our word for it. I know this sounds cliché but do your research. There is plenty of great information online about when, where, how, how much etc.
I think we solved the abortion issue. We've all known each other for almost 20 years and this is the first time we have talked about where we stand on abortion. Due to the recent changes to abortion laws in Texas, it seems to be an even hotter topic then it normally is. This is an extremely confusing and touchy subject that creates a major divide in society. Everyone seems to be on one team or the other these days and it's not just with abortion. Having the abortion conversation publicly is almost guaranteed to attract a ruthless crowd of angry activists from both sides. I'll be honest, I considered not even posting this episode but saner heads prevailed.
Is this what you really want? Before your quit your job, watch this. Why is it so hard to quit that 9 to 5 if you don't like what you're doing. Their are many reasons why a person might quit their job. It could be to start a business, go back to school or pursue your passion. It could be because you are not happy or because you want more money. Maybe it's because we don't know what we want. In this episode of the It's The Booze Talking Podcast, we talk about what it is that keeps people trapped in meaningless jobs and careers. What mistakes are we making when trying to quit and move on to something more fulfilling. There are so many self help books and motivational courses, speakers and seminars that only seem to help a very small number of their followers and attendees. Why is that? What is it that people are missing or doing wrong. I think we come to some interesting conclusions in this one so stick around until the end.
Eastern mystics are a very mysterious type of person. Some can almost seem super human or wise beyond a single human life time. One has to wonder though, if the oldest remaining ancient culture has crafted the perfect con over thousands of years. Either way, in Sadhguru's case, it seems to be working out for the best. And of course we couldn't talk about yoga dudes without thinking of Bikram, the infamous hot yoga creator who was accused of sexually assaulting his trainers. We wrap things up with a little covid convo and some fun hypotheticals.
We found out this guy was a homophobe. It recently came to our attention that a guy we all know came out as a homophobe. He had hung out around friends of ours who are gay on more then one occasion and was very friendly and seemed to enjoy their company. But one day I guess it dawned on him that our friends were gay and he reacted in anger. It was a shock for sure. In this episode we try to understand what homophobia is all about and how a person can be homophobic.
I had some sort of a mini awakening on this trip and it changed the course of my life. I don't want people to think that I am hating on the hostels in Europe. I actually think that the hostel systems are amazing and a fantastic way to travel on a budget. I just think that for some people that may be trying to escape an already confusing life style at home, it could possibly end up being more harm then good. In this episode we go into some things to look out for.
Elon Musk is working on creating a device that will be implanted into peoples brains. The device will most likely be used to help with a range of health issues at first but later, or in the near future according to musk himself, we will be able to increase our brains capabilities and intelligence with the device. We all know that most new things that are expensive are ultimately mass produced and become cheaper. In this episode we discuss whether or not this product should be different and if that would even be possible.
How should we react to difficult people and situations. We try to figure out whether or not we need to correct other people at times if we know that they are wrong. That leads us to questioning how it is that we know that others are wrong and how reacting in any case might be wrong as well.
If we got anything good out of this first episode, I would say it would be the part about paying it forward. We talk about paying for the order of people behind you in the drive-thru and the affect that doing little things like that can have in the world.
