Feeling tension, friction, or total exhaustion at work, but can't quite put your finger on why? It might not be the workload… it might be a misalignment of values. In this episode of Keeping it Real, Jac and Ral tackle the real culprit behind career unhappiness, when your personal values clash with your job, your leadership, or even your clients. Sharing raw, firsthand experiences, they break down why staying in a role just for the money isn't sustainable and how knowing your core values is the ultimate career cheat code. Ral shares why she walked away from a highly lucrative opportunity with the tobacco industry and Jac breaks down a coaching session with a high-earning executive eyeing a role in the gambling industry, using a simple social scenario to expose severe values misalignment.  Stop grinding in silence and start aligning your work with who you actually are.Values and actions assessment:https://www.viacharacter.org/----Your support helps keep this show going — join us on Patreon.https://tinyurl.com/jacandralpatreonNew Episode Every Monday Follow the show https://www.instagram.com/keepingitrealwithjacandral/https://open.spotify.com/show/5yIs5ncJGvJyXhI55Js0if?si=aCNOdB68QnOGnT0vCTPcPgFollow Jac https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacphillips/https://www.instagram.com/jac.phillips.coaching/Follow Ral https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabrielledolan/https://www.instagram.com/gabrielledolan.1/Produced by Keehlan Ferrari-Brown

This episode is for anyone navigating a career pivot or craving more purpose and fulfillment in their work We're joined by career coach, author, and former Google executive Megan Hellerer to unpack how to find an aligned career and make confident decisions about your next chapter. We explore the truth behind the Achievement Lie, and why so many millennials feel anxious, lost, and burned out despite being successful. You'll learn the difference between your “fear self” and your “true self,” why logic alone won't lead you to the right decisions, and how to start making decisions based on what actually feels aligned. After doing everything “right” — graduating from Stanford, landing a high-powered role at Google — Megan found herself deeply unfulfilled and ultimately quit away with no plan. It's the night before I leave for a nine-night trip to Costa Rica with my three kids. During tax season. And I almost forgot it was tax season until I sat down to record this, which honestly says everything. In this episode, I'm sharing something I've never talked about publicly: a letter I wrote to myself in February of 2014 when I was a CPA working long days in corporate tax, doing the math on what my hourly rate actually worked out to be. I titled it "Quit Your Job." And then I didn't quit. I talk about what life looked like during those corporate tax seasons, why I kept talking myself out of the leap, and what ultimately pushed me out the door. Even the unexpected moment during my first pregnancy that made the decision for me. I also share how slowly the bookkeeping business actually grew after that, and what finally changed when I got intentional about building it. If you're a bookkeeper or aspiring bookkeeper wondering whether leaving corporate is really possible, or whether it's too late to start, this episode is for you.   EPISODE RESOURCES: Sick of imposter syndrome keeping you stuck? This week on A Millennial Mind, I am joined by Dr Faye Bate, a medical doctor who explains exactly what's happening in your brain when your hormones shift — and why some women feel it so much more than others. In this episode, we break down the real science behind PMS and PMDD, why your blood tests can come back normal when you feel awful, how stress makes everything worse, and why antidepressants aren't always the answer. Faye also opens up about her own experience of freezing her eggs, the emotional toll of fertility pressure, and the viral misinformation that's doing real damage to women. If you've ever been told "it's just part of being a woman" — this episode will change how you see your mood and help you (and your partner) better prepare for those tricky and emotional few days, so many of us suffer with each month.

You didn't get the raise or promotion you wanted, and suddenly quitting feels like the only way to get unstuck. Kendall Berg explains why that reaction is exactly how people end up hurting their long-term careers. She breaks down the difference between staying too long because of empty promises and leaving too fast without using all the information available to you. Kendall talks about the trap so many professionals fall into when timelines stay vague. Promotions are always "coming soon." Bigger teams, more scope, more visibility are always just around the corner. Without a clear personal deadline, people stay stuck far longer than they should, waiting for a reward that never actually arrives. At the same time, she calls out the opposite mistake. Job hopping the moment a raise or promotion does not happen, without understanding context, budget cycles, or expectations, can be just as damaging. This episode walks through what to do after a disappointing raise or bonus. Kendall explains how to set a realistic timeline for yourself, how to evaluate whether new responsibilities actually change the equation, and how to decide when staying makes sense versus when it is time to move on. The goal is not blind patience or impulsive quitting. It is making a clear, grounded decision you can stand behind. In this episode, we discuss What should you do when you don't get the raise or promotion you expected? How vague promises like "soon" and "next cycle" keep people stuck too long Why quitting immediately after a missed raise can hurt your career How to set a personal deadline and hold yourself to it What new responsibilities actually matter when deciding whether to stay What's one "corporate game" rule you've learned the hard way?

Welcome to episode 179 of the Extraordinary Creatives podcast - Should You Quit Your Job to Be an Artist?  There's a moment every artist fantasises about. The email sent. The notice handed in. The clean break. Finally, time, headspace, freedom. But more time doesn't automatically mean better work. Sometimes it means more fear. So, Should you give up your full-time job to pursue your art? Not in theory. Not in Instagram-caption wisdom. But in real life, with real nervous systems, real rent, real doubt, and real ambition. This episode was sparked by a conversation inside her Artist Mastermind Circle.  An artist who'd built a successful business alongside his practice. Financially stable. Thoughtful. Clear-eyed. And still asking himself the hardest question of all. Is now the moment to make a clean break?  KEY TAKEAWAYS Quitting your job won't magically fix your practice. It might give you space. It might also give you anxiety, comparison, and a nervous system in overdrive. Before you burn the bridge, build the baton. Steady the work. Strengthen the support. Then decide. Anxiety has a way of shrinking creativity. It narrows risk. It softens ambition. It pushes you towards safer work, not braver work. That's not a moral failure, that's biology. Before you quit, make sure your work is strong, you're truly committed to sharing it and ready for the time and energy doing that takes. Ensure your inner world is steady, you're supported, and you've tested that your art can actually sustain you. Don't jump; build the bridge. BEST MOMENTS “More time doesn't automatically mean better work. Sometimes it means more fear.” “A sustainable creative career isn't built on bravery alone. It's built on emotional regulation. Your thoughts affect your feelings. Your feelings affect your actions. Your actions create your results.” “Can you manage your inner weather when doubt hits? Do you have tools to regulate yourself, or do you collapse into self, judgement and comparison and shrink?” “The lone, brave warrior fantasy is seductive. And dangerous. It's bullsh**t. No artist gets there alone.” PODCAST HOST BIO With over 35 years in the art world, Ceri has worked closely with leading artists and arts professionals, managed public and private galleries and charities, and curated more than 250 exhibitions and events. In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on the exact strategic process that took me from working 10 hours a week to generating seven figures while only working 10-15 hours weekly. After 23 years in the coaching and mentoring industry and building multiple $10+ million companies, I'm sharing the blueprint that actually works - not just theory, but what I've personally implemented. I get real about my journey from being a CEO of a $20 million company to starting my own business and initially failing because I was still operating like an employee. You'll hear how I went from doing video editing and marketing funnels for other companies to running my own seven-figure consulting business, and the painful lessons I learned along the way. In this episode, you'll discover: Why having all the knowledge isn't enough (and what I had to learn the hard way about taking risks) The two business models that work best when leaving corporate: services vs. information/consulting My personal story of juggling 8 clients to hit $250k/year (and why it almost destroyed me) The 3-step system: Finding people with problems, presenting offers, and closing sales Why 95% of people fail at the presentation stage The "offer letter" strategy that changed everything How to use retargeting ads at a 95% discount Real client case studies, including scaling to $1 million per month I also dive deep into the mindset shifts required, the importance of boundaries, and why you need to stop being afraid of selling. Whether you're 30+ and sitting on years of expertise or younger and eager to build, this episode shows you how to monetize what you already know. This isn't about working harder - it's about working strategically. If you're tired of trading time for money and ready to build a business that serves your life (not the other way around), this episode is your starting point.

On this episode, I breakdown eight little-known mobile apps that each generate around $50,000+ per month and explain why they work. I walk through specific examples—from AI video generators and Bible note-takers to vinyl pricing tools and AI English tutors—then explain the common patterns behind their success. The second half of the episode is devoted to six clear frameworks for spotting high-potential niches and designing simple, sticky mobile apps around them. I end the episode with a batch of extra startup ideas built on high-intent inputs like photos, videos, and scans so listeners can “vibe code” their own profitable apps in 2026. Timestamps 00:00 – Intro 02:02 – App 1: Flashloop: AI Video Generator for Viral Character Clips 03:26 – App 2: Bible Note-Taker & Prayer Recorder for Churchgoers 06:35 – App 3: AI Home Decor Interior Design App and Visualization Pain 08:48 – App 4: Moji Lab: Emoji/Sticker Packs and Expression as a Business 11:43 – App 5: Vinyl Snap: Scanning Vinyl Records for Accurate Pricing 13:51 – App 6: Genora AI: Bundling Multiple LLMs into One Assistant 16:45 – App 7: Logo Maker: AI Generated Logos 18:57 – App 8: Menu Fit: Healthy Eating Recommendations at Any Restaurant 20:44 – App 9: LangLearn: Personal AI English Tutor and Duolingo Comparison 22:37 – App 10: Zozo Fit 3D Body Scanner: Tracking Body Change, Not the Scale 25:04 – The “ 50K MRR App Framework” 31:30 – Bonus Startup Ideas Key Points Profitable mobile apps often do one high-intent, recurring job for a specific identity-based group, then charge a subscription around that behavior. Many breakout apps turn photos, videos, or scans (high-signal inputs) into premium insights like valuations, design plans, or tailored recommendations. Simple, one-screen interfaces with clear before/after transformations make these AI-powered tools feel approachable and addictive to use. The “50K MRR App Framework” combines spending power, repeating problems, visual inputs, accuracy needs, and bad existing tools to guide idea selection. New app ideas can be generated by pairing these frameworks with underserved niches like golf swings, pet health, used cars, or RV layouts. Numbered Section Summaries Why Mobile Apps Are Printing Money in 2026 The host opens by arguing that now is an incredible time to build mobile apps, pointing to new apps that have appeared “out of nowhere” and reached $50K+ per month. He cites a tweet listing 10 such apps launched in the last 180 days and sets the goal of reverse engineering what makes them work so listeners can apply the patterns to their own ideas. The 50K MRR App Framework The “50K MRR App Framework”: find a group that (1) spends money, (2) has a repeating problem, (3) uses photos/videos as inputs, (4) cares deeply about accuracy, and (5) suffers from bad existing tools. He walks through how vinyl collectors fit every criterion and stresses that while the framework is simple, execution still requires great UX, clean UI, and the right niche. The goal is to make idea selection easier by checking all five boxes before committing to an app. Six Supporting Frameworks for Designing Hit Apps I expands into six additional frameworks: start with a “nerve” (identity, urgency, stakes, repetition); solve one job that always must be done; build around a single high-intent input (photo, address, object); use AI to unlock a premium insight (price, diagnosis, summary, design plan); wrap it in a simple, desirable interface (one screen, one button, one transformation); and create a recurring behavior loop that pulls users back daily or weekly. He summarizes these in a conceptual pipeline: high-intent input → AI premium insight → simple interface → recurring loop → $50K MRR.
