Not when your manager makes it unbearable, not when the reorg finally hits, but when YOU decide that staying is costing more than it's worth. We break down the three questions that have helped us walk away from “good” jobs and build a better life on the other side. In this episode of the Journey to Launch Podcast, I explore the question: Do you really want to quit your job, or are you just bored? I dive into the motivations behind financial independence and why so many people feel dissatisfied with their jobs. Reflecting on my own journey, I encourage you to ask yourself whether quitting is truly the right solution or if you simply need a shift in your work environment, role, or mindset. I'll walk you through important questions to consider before making a big career move. I cover self-awareness, workplace dynamics, career alignment, and even alternative paths like entrepreneurship. I challenge you to think about whether you actually want to stop working or if you just need a break. In this episode I discuss: How self-reflection can help determine if your dissatisfaction is caused by the job itself or if there is a deeper issue, such as recurring work struggles or personal patterns. Whether frustration stems from low pay, lack of respect, or a toxic work environment, suggest considering negotiation or other options before quitting. The pros and cons of entrepreneurship, questioning whether you truly want to work for yourself Whether taking a sabbatical, extended PTO, or making a career shift might be a better solution than quitting altogether. Her terrific debut cookbook, Mooncakes and Milk Bread, won her two James Beard awards, and her follow-up, Chinese Enough, is a big favorite of all of us at TASTE. We were so happy to have Kristina in the studio, where we found out about how she pivoted from a career in architecture to work on food full time. Kristina and Matt are appearing together at the Tucson Festival of Books on March 15.Also on the show we have a really fun conversation with Eleanor Wilkinson. Rethinking Your Goals[00:08:50] “But I've realized that if I'm willing to ask, the worst that could happen is someone could say no and that's okay. A low-risk experiment is maybe I'm out a little bit of money, a little bit of time, maybe my ego's hurt a little bit, but if it works it could be incredible. And I've just been amazed, as I've asked, doors have opened.” [00:30:31] “Figure out what are your goals and what do you actually need, and as you start that process, you will learn. You will learn a lot and I think if people have a million dollars to invest, don't put it in one deal. Do a little research and maybe put 50K in a few different deals just to start and to see how it goes, and you're going to learn a ton.” [00:45:52] “I think that's really what creates the change because, then what happens is you actually show up as that person. You show up a certain way. The universe, the world, everything is like “oh this is who this person is”. This is how Elon Musk, this is how all these achievers do these amazing things. Because they just simply created it and they lived out of that.”Connect with Bronson Hill Website - https://bronsonequity.com/learn/my-story/ Audio/video editing and show notes by Podcast Abundance.
