This is a re-release of one of my favourite episodes with herbalist and menstrual cycle educator Kerri Alexander. Kerri lives and works on Darug and Guringai Country and is passionate about helping women heal and reconnect with their bodies and the rhythms of the natural world.I loved chatting with Kerri in this one about the power of using menstrual cycle awareness as a tool for encouraging us to pause and reflect. Using our cycle to help us see how our needs ebb and flow during different stages and phases of the month and our lives.Grab a cuppa and a cosy spot and enjoy tuning back into this beautiful episode!

In this thought-provoking sermon, Neil Epler delves into Ezekiel chapter 9, exploring themes of mercy and judgment. The sermon examines the vision of executioners and the significance of the man clothed in linen, symbolizing God's messengers. Epler reflects on the solemnity of Lent, the need for introspection, and the balance between God's justice and mercy. Through references to biblical stories, he underscores the importance of being marked by God and living as faithful followers of Christ.

Viens. On t'attend.”

Chaplain, coach, and author Dean Abbott joins me for a thought-provoking conversation about the difference between healthy introspection and unhealthy rumination. Dean challenges a popular argument that therapy simply encourages people to think about themselves too much, making the case instead that people don't ruminate for fun — they ruminate because they're in pain and searching for something they've lost.Together we explore what makes self-examination productive versus destructive, and Dean introduces a framework rooted in the Christian tradition that contrasts nihilistic rumination — where a person endlessly rehearses their pain with no resolution — with a more structured self-examination oriented toward growth, virtue, and wisdom. I get personal and share my own recent struggles with loneliness and the tension between being a generous host and not getting that energy back when I need it most. Dean walks me through what healthy self-examination would look like in that situation, pointing to the importance of recognizing our legitimate needs and having the courage and honesty to express them.We also dive into the lost concept of human formation, the role of moral education in therapy, why thousands of years of wisdom literature shouldn't be abandoned in the counseling room, and the difference between development and formation. This is a rich, honest, and deeply human conversation.Dean Abbott is a coach, chaplain and author living in the Midwest. He loves animals, music and baseball. His can be found at www.deanabbott.com. Real ethics is not a dogmatic system of principles, parameters, or prerogatives that one must strictly follow to achieve enlightenment. They instead constitute psychological ways of being that permeate our mind stream, atmosphere, relationships, and communities. By modifying our conditioned states of mind and curtailing states that produce suffering, we in turn ennoble ourselves and the people we interact with. However, such steps require diligent work in the techniques of mindfulness, self-observation, and self-remembering. See how through an exploration of ethics in the three levels of religion; energy as applied to attention and karma; comprehension in meditation as opposed to repression or justification; voluntary mental discipline vs. imposed systems of constraint; the tools and methods of self-reflection and understanding; methods of analyzing the mind; the nature of good and evil; and much more.

Staying spiritually alert matters more than ever in a world where temptation rarely looks dangerous at first glance. This Crosswalk Devotional, Keeping Your Mind on Guard by Aaron D’Anthony Brown, centers on 1 Peter 5:8 and offers a sobering reminder that spiritual battles are often subtle, internal, and persistent. Scripture calls believers to stay clear-minded and watchful because the enemy works quietly, appealing to our weaknesses rather than announcing his presence. Highlights The Bible emphasizes spiritual alertness over fear-based imagery Sin often entices quietly, masking long-term consequences Staying in God’s Word sharpens discernment and clarity Community helps redirect us when we drift off course Healthy relationships influence spiritual resilience Mindfulness and self-examination reveal hidden struggles God’s grace meets us when we turn back in awareness and humility Do you want to listen ad-free? Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” (1 Peter 5:8, CSB) People often imagine the Devil as a goat-like beast that strikes fear into the hearts of men. However, such renditions of Satan are the result of human creativity, how we think of him. On the contrary, Scripture doesn’t actually give us any physical description. We only know certain characteristics, such as his evil nature, pride, and deceitfulness. If Satan looked anything like how he is often depicted in popular literature and movies, wouldn’t people run in the opposite direction? Christian or not, that’s just plain scary. Yet, I think we can agree that the Devil is active in our world today. Very active. That means if he is to be successful, he has to be subtle. Such is the nature of sin. Sin is enticing because the consequences don’t speak as loudly as the supposed benefits. Thus, the Devil lures us in, and we fall for the trap. Now, perhaps we blame him for things that we ourselves commit willingly, due to our own flawed nature. However, I don’t think the Devil is off somewhere chilling and relaxing. He’s acting against us as we ourselves do the same. Therefore, as Christians, we need to remember an important lesson as we go about our lives - keeping our minds on guard. Whether we’re in a good season of life or a difficult one, there’s always the potential of being pulled away from God. We don’t always recognize the sin in our lives, but it’s there. So, how exactly do we guard our minds against the wiles of the Devil and the tempting nature of sin? Intersecting Faith & Life: Here are a few steps you can take today to guard against the sin that creeps so easily into our lives. Be in the Word. Someone recently told me that he’s confident in his prayers because he always gets what he prays for. What I also know is this man is not reading the Bible at all. As a result, he’s left with who he imagines God to be instead of who God is. That could be true of any of us who call ourselves Christians, but don’t follow God’s tenets. How can we know what He expects of us if we don’t know Him? Moreover, how can we know how to stand against sin if we don’t first turn to God? Yes, we can learn from the people around us, but they are sinners just like us. Their knowledge and wisdom are finite. Not God’s. And we know what is holy not because of them, but because He is holy. Be in community. There’s much to gain when we keep good company. Fellow believers have the ability to help us get back on track when we veer off course. They remind us of our worth to God and how to walk in wisdom. However, they can’t offer any of these gains if we don’t keep them around. That’s why the Bible encourages us to be mindful of who we keep around us. Everyone in our lives, especially those we engage with regularly, influences us. Let’s make sure they are influencing us for good, and that we, in turn, are doing the same. The better our company, the less we will fall into sin. Be mindful. Introspection is an underrated and underutilized practice. To identify sin, we must first recognize it. However, so many of us are constantly on the go, and we don’t take time to figure out how to improve ourselves. We don’t know when to rest, or when to invest more into a relationship, or when we have developed a bad habit. We can see it in others, but not ourselves. All because we’re not taking the time to think. Consider journaling, sitting in silence without distractions, and even praying that God will help you become more mindful. As mentioned in the introduction, we don’t always recognize the sin in our lives, but it’s there. And when we find it, we should respond accordingly by turning to God and His saving grace. So many of us have tried to white-knuckle our way through one food plan after another. But what if health isn't about eating perfectly—but rather about building habits that actually bear good fruit in our lives? In this episode, guest co-host Brandice Lardner and I unpack why “perfect eating plans” so often fail, especially for Highly Sensitive Christian women. Brandice introduces the idea of fruitful habits: flexible, grace-filled practices you can evaluate by their outcomes, not whether you followed every rigid rule. We explore how reflection (not rumination) helps you learn from your choices why giving yourself permission actually reduces food obsessions what it looks like to “marry wants with wisdom” without shame or fear If you're longing for a calmer, more sustainable approach to food—one rooted in grace, discernment, and real-life rhythms—this conversation offers a hopeful way forward.Links mentioned: Episode #303: "Why It's Hard to Trust Your Body — Especially Around Food" https://cherigregory.com/episode303/ Order Brandice's new book Fully Nourished: A Grace-Filled Approach to Ditch Diets and Find Peace with Food and Your Body https://amzn.to/3Z3q5SL You can get her free 7-lesson "Faith > Food" email course right here https://gracefilledplate.com/faith-food-email-course/ Check out Brandice's Website: Grace Filled Plate https://GraceFilledPlate.com Take the “Am I a Highly Sensitive Person?” Self-Quiz https://CheriGregory.com/hspquiz/ Learn about the "Write Beside You" Unlimited Coaching Program and the "Clarity in Your Calling" Mastermind https://sensitiveandstrongbook.com/wby-unlimited-coaching-program/ https://sensitiveandstrongbook.com/clarity-in-your-calling-mastermind Chapters (00:00:00) - Grit and Grace: When Perfect Eating Plans Fail(00:01:19) - How to Trust Your Own Body(00:04:10) - Virtuous HABITS(00:09:02) - Introspection and Self-Compassion(00:15:33) - Why Is It So Hard to Overcome a Sugar Cravings?(00:22:18) - Living on a Diet with the Spirit(00:25:01) - Highly Sensitive Christian Women(00:27:38) - Marathon Author: The MDP Team

In this episode of The Ross Simmonds Show, Ross delivers a candid message to founders, executives, and team leaders. If you're demanding high performance from your team but not modeling it yourself, the problem starts with you. Ross explores how poor leadership habits affect team culture and performance — and why success begins with self-awareness, accountability, and leading by example. If you're frustrated with team results, before looking outward, Ross encourages you to look in the mirror. He shares lessons from his own leadership journey and offers practical questions to help you evaluate your leadership habits. Key Takeaways and Insights: 1. Leaders must model what they expect. - You can't demand elite output while operating with average habits. - Culture is a reflection of leadership. If your organization is underperforming, the root may be your own inconsistencies. - High performance trickles down. Your team won't surpass the standard you set — raise the standard, and the team will follow. - Introspection before criticism. Ask yourself hard questions about your leadership style and consistency. - Show your team what preparation looks like. Demonstrate how you lead meetings, deliver presentations, and display urgency. 2. Growth requires investment. - Leaders must continually invest in themselves to lead their teams effectively. - Excellence spreads when it's consistently displayed through actions, not just words. —
