Send us a textAs another year is officially in the books, I'm taking one final look back before we say goodbye to 2025 forever. What are some of the best pours, some of the worst, and some of those right in between that just didn't quite make the cut? Were you able to predict what I had in my top 10? Were there bourbons (and/or ryes) that should've been here? And what the heck is this Flying Blind I've got lined up for this week's episode? All that and more on Ep. 414 of This is my Bourbon Podcast. Forget Dry January. Can you imagine being dry for 13 years? That was Prohibition from 1920 to 1933. But some folks, including one wildly famous international visitor, found some sneaky ways around the ban, claiming doctor’s orders. And most others drank really sketchy liquor. Dry January is everywhere this week. Headlines. Morning TV. Group chats. So we thought this was the perfect moment to dig into it properly. In this episode of Biohacking News, I'm joined by Andy Ramage. Former professional footballer, now bestselling author, and co-founder of One Year No Beer, as well as Dryy App. Andy joined me years ago on the podcast, so it's about time we caught up, and the perfect time. You can be doing “everything right” and still feel off: poor sleep, low energy, brain fog, and slipping motivation. This episode reframes the hidden factor many high-performing men overlook: regular social drinking. If you're a man in your 40s or 50s who drinks “normally” but feels like your performance is sliding, Clifford Stephan shares why a longer, strategic break (not a quick dry month) can help you reset sleep, mood, cravings, and resilience, without shame or extreme labels. About the Guest: Clifford Stephan is the founder of Booze Vacation, a men's health movement for high-performing men in their 40s and 50s. He studied nutritional science at Cal Poly SLO and spent over 20 years running a consulting business in Silicon Valley. Key Takeaways: Use a 3 to 6 month break to truly re-stabilize sleep, mood, and stress response Track drinks, last drink time, and morning energy to spot patterns fast Build a “social game plan” so events stay fun without alcohol Expect cravings for sugar and caffeine when sleep is disrupted Focus on sequence: stop the disruptor first, then optimize diet, training, recovery How to Connect With the Guest: Website: https://boozevacation.com/ Men's health assessment quiz: https://boozevacation.scoreapp.com/ Want to be a guest on Healthy Mind, Healthy Life? We pick up where we left off the morning after the party's stakeout of sorts. It seems as if Ursus was not the only person visited last night, as we learn Bob also came in contact with an unfamiliar figure, presumably an Ashen Child. The party splits for the morning, with the Slash Bros at the temple, where they find Sister Flinthorn, who discusses Ursus' evening encounter with the Ashen Children and receives a refresher course on who the Silent Keeper is. Back at the tavern, where the rest of the group is having some food, they start connecting the dots regarding what happened with the ships, the Ashen Children, and other things that haven't lined up. Chantico's sister, Tozi, gets in contact with her amid all this and checks in on her, informing her that she will get back to her about Bob when she has more information to share. Eventually, Bob, Ursus, and Thorak meet with everyone else. After exchanging information, they conclude that while the circumstances are similar to those of a false hydra, these are not identical situations. This doesn't leave the group feeling much better about their circumstances. It's then that they realize they are marking themselves, and they are losing time every time they encounter the being (or beings) causing all of this. After that, they attend their meeting and obtain the address where they were just yesterday, but with a different point of contact. Not Lua Hugh, but a one Nora Vakara. Instead of drawing too much attention to the discrepancy, they leave to go investigate. It's here that things really go off the rails. As they approach the home, the group realizes time has been passing rapidly, and marks are appearing more frequently. It's then that Thorak uses Paco as his eyes, while Valen blindfolds himself and utilizes his blindsense, a way to see without being affected by the entities causing all this. And, to their (mis)fortune, they can see and begin fighting the strange grey beings and instruct the group to keep them contained. By losing eye contact with them, they forget, so Valen stuns one, Thorak grows large and grapples a few, and Chantico restrains one via her druidic magic. An intense fight later, they manage to restrain one with a rope and with Bob's tentacles, Elizabeth, and kill the rest of them. They take them through the city to the temple and try to gauge the situation. In showing the creature to Sister Flintorn, something bothered Thorak. He catches a faint glimpse of a smirk that just barely creeps over her face, and with that, Thorak yells to Bob to restrain her. There's so much happening, and that's where we pick up…Find out what happens next in this episode of the Medusa's Cascade Blood & Booze!Theme Music is written and performed by EfflorescenceMixed by Thomas Lapierre IIICheck out the show at themedusascascade.com

Send us a textAs we reach the end of the year, I thought it was important to take some time to look at what made 2025 successful and where it fell apart. As I bring Chad Perkins from It's Bourbon Night on to chat about it, we look at the releases we got, the distilleries that opened (and...closed), and how the market fought against all odds to to show up and out in any which way possible. Plus, we check out and review the newest edition of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond from Heaven Hill (the Decanter Series, mind you), and give it the ol' TIMBP treatment. It starts small. A stolen bottle of liquor. A missing wallet. A petty theft in the night. But for some individuals, crime isn't a one-off, it's a sliding scale, a dark spiral downward. Let's examine how Antonio Brown, an alcoholic, homeless man moved from petty theft to what would become a brutal homicide. This isn't about sensational headlines. It's about the dangerous dynamics of escalation — when opportunity, desperation, and violence collide. An in-depth look at the tragic 2022 death of 77-year-old Eleanor Bowles at the hands of 23-year-old Antonio Brown — tracing a path from alleged minor thefts to a violent car theft-turned-homicide, exploring psychological escalation, criminal history, and what may have tipped this suspect over the edge. #AntonioBrown #EleanorBowles #AtlantaPD #RobberyToMurder #CriminalEscalation #ProfilingEvil #TripleMurder #Odessa #Texas #triplehomicide #15yroldEmail your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

If you don't like dealing with bloat, hangovers, or stress around family - today's episode is for you. In the last episode of the year, we're going over three things to remember when it comes to the holidays so you can feel as good as you can with less guilt. We're covering:✔️ The holiday “rules” we put on ourselves, and why they usually backfire✔️ A few surprising angles on alcohol, hangovers, and next-day regret✔️ The lesser-known things that quietly make holiday bloat worse and how to avoid it with the "3 P's"✔️ Why stress hits differently this time of year (and what actually helps)✔️ One free nervous-system reset you can use anytime family dynamics get to be a lotPlus, today's feelgood thingGot a feelgood thing to submit?

They're both supposed to be served to your liking, whether in a cocktail or neat, but I'm only here to tell you what my tasting notes are and how great they actually are. Sure enough, they've got a lot to live up to. So, strap in, and enjoy, folks.Become a patron of the show at http://www.patreon.com/mybourbonpodcastLeave us a 5 star rating and review on your podcast app of choice!Send us an email with questions or comments to thisismybourbonshop@gmail.comSend us mail to PO Box 22609, Lexington, KY 40522Check out all of our merch and apparel: http://bourbonshop.threadless.com/Leave us a message for Barrel Rings at 859.428.8253Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mybourbonpod/Twitter: https://twitter.com/mybourbonpodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mybourbonpod/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thisismybourbonpodcastPayPal, if you feel so inclined: PayPal.me/pritter1492Link to our Barrell Rye Armagnac Finished Pick: https://shop.whiskeyinmyweddingring.com/products/barrell-private-release-rye-1a03Support the show

Discover the seven critical alcohol effects on body systems, from blood sugar disruption and gut inflammation to hormone imbalances and liver stress. Whether you're an occasional drinker or weekend regular, understanding how alcohol impacts your health—from brain function to cancer risk—helps you make informed choices and recover smarter. FEATURED PRODUCT NAC+ – featuring N-Acetyl Cysteine and selenium, is specifically designed to support your liver's ability to produce powerful antioxidants that combat oxidative stress from alcohol consumption. As discussed in this episode, alcohol depletes critical nutrients like selenium while generating excessive cellular damage. NAC+ helps your liver reduce oxidative stress, supports detoxification pathways, and replenishes the exact minerals that alcohol depletes—making it essential for anyone who drinks, whether occasionally or regularly. get it here: https://mswnutrition.com/products/nac 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS Blood Sugar Disruption – Alcohol converts directly into blood sugar and is stored as fat in the liver, contributing to pre-diabetes and fatty liver disease that affects one in four people worldwide. Gut & Liver Inflammation – Alcohol acts as a toxin that damages gut lining, disrupts the microbiome, causes leaky gut, and generates oxidative stress that your liver must work overtime to neutralize. Neurotransmitter Imbalance – While alcohol temporarily boosts serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, it severely disrupts sleep quality, increases anxiety and depression risk, and prevents proper brain detoxification during rest. Mineral Depletion – Alcohol's diuretic effect causes critical loss of selenium, zinc, magnesium, and potassium—minerals essential for liver function, antioxidant production, and cellular protection. Hormone & Cancer Risk – Long-term alcohol consumption suppresses testosterone, increases estrogen through aromatization, and is classified as a carcinogen linked to multiple cancer types including liver, breast, and colorectal cancers. TIMESTAMPS 00:00 – START 02:00 – Why alcohol is classified as a severe toxin 05:00 – Effect #1: Blood sugar disruption and fatty liver development 09:00 – Effect #2: Inflammation, leaky gut, and microbiome destruction 13:00 – Effect #3: Liver stress and oxidative damage 17:00 – Effect #4: Neurotransmitter imbalance and sleep disruption 22:00 – Effect #5: Electrolyte and mineral depletion (selenium & zinc) 26:00 – Effect #6: Hormone disruption and testosterone suppression 29:00 – Effect #7: Cancer risk and carcinogenic properties 32:00 – Mediterranean diet, resveratrol, and supplement alternatives 35:00 – Final recommendations for liver support and recovery RESOURCES Diabetes and Alcohol – https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/selfcare-instructions/diabetes-and-alcohol Does Alcohol Cause Inflammation – https://www.verywellhealth.com/does-alcohol-cause-inflammation-8403645 Alcohol Consumption and Antioxidant Defense – https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7357092/ Alcohol and Brain Neuroadaptive Changes – https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11718584/ Sex and Stress Hormones in Alcohol Consumption – https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7374925/ Alcohol and Aromatization – https://ai.hubermanlab.com/s/6PV5jyTa How Does Alcohol Affect the Microbiome – https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/how-does-alcohol-affect-the-microbiome.h00-159696756.html CONNECT

Welcome back folks to another episode of Snooze & Booze! Currently at episode 283, we have another great one for you. It's been a while, we know. We're trying to get you guys caught up as often as we can so bear with us. Consider this our Christmas/New Years (possibly) episode. So take care of yourselves and although the year has been quite a shitshow, I'm sure there's been plenty of moments that have made it all worth it, too. So grab a few drinks and then grab a few more with the people you love. If you're really feeling festive, walk around holding some mistletoe over your head and try making out with anyone you come across. You might get a felony charge or two, but at least you can't say you didn't get anything this holiday season. If you play your cards right, it'll be the gift that keeps on giving... additional sentences. Totally kidding!! Don't do anything without consent. Just had to make that clear for liability purposes. I sincerely doubt that anybody is taking anything we say on here seriously. At least I hope so. Peace out ya'll! P.S. Fuck Ice
The cause of and solution to all your holiday problems!

This week, we sit down with Janice, an author, advocate, and nearly 20 years sober, to unpack a story that begins in a family of dive bar owners and ends in a life built on purpose and spiritual transformation.Raised around alcoholism, Janice picked up drinking and smoking weed in middle and high school before joining the Marine Corps. When an injury derailed her military path, she was prescribed pain medications that opened the door to years of dependency. By her mid 30s, she found herself addicted to methadone until she made the terrifying decision to quit cold turkey. What followed was a profound and unexpected spiritual experience that became the turning point of her life.Today, Janice has almost two decades of sobriety, has written two powerful recovery books, and dedicates her time to helping people navigate surgery and pain management without narcotics. Her story is raw, honest, and deeply hopeful, and it serves as a reminder of what is possible on the other side of surrender.Find Janice's books and info about sober surgeries: https://www.sobrietyrocks365.com/DM me on InstagramMessage me on FacebookListen AD FREE & workout with me on Patreon Connect with me on TikTokEmail me chasingheroine@gmail.comSee you next week!
