Plus: her complicated relationship with antidepressants, weathering fertility struggles, and aging in public. Sara Bareilles joins Dan to discuss her new album Good Grief, a record she made after losing three close friends — Chad Joseph, Gavin Creel, and poet Andrea Gibson. The conversation covers grief as a transformative force, medication and mental health, fertility struggles and miscarriage, the creative process as spiritual transmission, aging without intervention, and patriotism as grief. In this episode we talk about: Grief is a shortcut to the truth — it strips away distraction and forces presence "Name it to tame it" — putting feelings into words reduces their power Sara's fear that medication would suppress her artistry turned out to be the opposite: Lexapro felt like "a return to herself" The creative process as clearing a channel rather than owning the output — music arrives, it isn't manufactured "Nothing to fix" — acceptance as a countercultural act in an era of optimization Acceptance isn't resignation — you can surrender to what is and still take compassionate action Grief of country: loving America and mourning what it's becoming aren't mutually exclusive Social media distorts your experience of reality — have your experience of the world in the world Sara Bareilles is a two-time Grammy winner and Tony-nominated composer whose music and lyrics powered the Broadway hit Waitress — a role she later performed herself, both on Broadway and in London's West End. On screen, she earned an Emmy nomination for Girls5eva and for her performance as Mary Magdalene in NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live! She has sold over three million albums and 3.5 billion streams worldwide. What happens when you stop trying to build the salon you think you're supposed to own and build the one you actually want?In this episode, David sits down with Destroy the Hairdresser student and Capybara Hair Lounge owner Katya Yoshida to talk about her journey from nearly leaving the industry altogether to building one of the most unapologetically unique salons we've seen.Katya shares how discovering DTH challenged everything she thought she knew about pricing, salon ownership and what a "professional" salon was supposed to look like. They get into hourly pricing, gratuity-free culture, station sharing, hiring, commission in California and how she's built an eight-chair salon with a team that continues to grow. But this episode is really about what happens when you stop watering down the weird idea.Katya built a salon named after a giant rodent, filled it with creatives, anime lovers, gamers and self-proclaimed weirdos, and created a business that finally feels like her. Two years in, both she and her husband are able to take paychecks from the business, she was able to leave the country with her family for two weeks without the salon falling apart, and she's still focused on building something even bigger. If you've been sitting on an idea because you're worried people won't get it, this episode might be your permission slip to do it anyway.Want support building a salon that actually works for your life instead of copying the same tired industry playbook?Join us inside the Hairdresser Business Club. You'll get weekly business and social media education, coaching, community and access to the DTH methods salon owners and hairdressers are using to build businesses differently.Join the Hairdresser Business Club and get your first two weeks free.
On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, there's deep frustration, shared by many Americans, over government officials who voice concerns about figures like Abdul El-Sayed, and Hasan Piker yet take no real action against them. We're not discussing freedom of religion but rather individuals who seek to destroy the country, promote violence, attack the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and undermine the system—primarily first- and second-generation Islamists, some of them naturalized citizens or children of birthright citizenship (like Piker). The Washington ruling class lacks the will to defend law-abiding American patriots, with Democrats protecting such individuals for their votes and others remaining intimidated by accusations of Islamophobia. Later, a Democrat nobody's heard of, Rep Johnny Olszewski, declares that impeachment of President Trump a top priority if Democrats take the House. Democrats are weaponizing impeachment for pure politics against a president who won a record popular vote, Electoral College total, and every swing state, rather than addressing genuine constitutional violations. Also, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani opposes a private Manhattan event featuring the leader of India's Hindu nationalist group (the RSS, ideological parent of the ruling party and linked to Prime Minister Modi). This is part of a pattern of his hostility toward Jews, Italians, and now Indians. Mamdani a bigot who trashes PM Modi the same way leftists trash PM Netanyahu. Later, Hasan Piker's recent remarks linking American Jews' support for Israel to potential violence against them, while blaming AIPAC for Democratic backlash, have drawn condemnations from several Democratic lawmakers. AIPAC is a transparent American PAC funded by Americans—unlike foreign influence from places such as Qatar or Turkey. Finally, Sen Dan Sullivan calls in to discuss his Senate election against Mary Peltola, who is a far-left liberal whose two terms in Congress produced zero bills signed into law. Sullivan called Alaska's ranked-choice voting system a manipulable scam put on the ballot to elect liberals - don't fall for it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Are you duplicating everybody else by having relationships with people and things, or do you acknowledge yourself as the generative source and create? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action, Simone Milasas continues her conversation with Kelly Pringle about having creationships with everything and everybody, rather than relationships. Creationship is accessing the greater you. When you are in creationship, you enjoy people but you also open yourself up to all possibilities, with anyone, at any time; there's no limitation to it. You might require and desire something from the other person, but not from lack or need, and doesn't mean you are less than when they are not around; there's room for malleability and change and exploration of something different. What would it take to be in creationship with everything and everyone? Questions And Tools: "Universe and body, show me the way" "Body, what do you require? Do you require anything?" "Why do I care?" "Now what else can I add to my life?" "Dear universe, what else is possible?" Tools: Trust you, your body and the universe. We are amazing and incredible and we keep pretending that we're not. We tend to access the debilitation of us and not what is the greatness of us. What percentage are you choosing your brilliance? Creationship is accessing the greater you. There is so much more available to us. Are you choosing your magic? You need to start accessing what you know. What you know, nobody else knows. What you are aware of, nobody else is aware of. Destroy and uncreate everything you're still perceiving in your body from past lifetimes. What if you were willing to be more vulnerable? The only way you are going to get hurt is if you choose to Look at why you care. What if you didn't care and you chose? Choosing for you is not choosing against others. Do you enjoy the people you are with? Do they add to your life? Everything you make significant and relevant in relationship creates the structure of relationships. What is your relationship with money? Destroy and uncreate it. If you trusted money, what would show up? Start trusting, honouring, being in allowance, being grateful, and being vuln with and for money. Stop duplicating everybody else with money. What if you were a generative source with money instead? When you do creationship with money, you start to receive in a different way. Ask for a creationship with your finances like you've never chosen before. Being out of control is allowing so many more possibilities to show up beyond anything you can imagine. We are so quick to go to what's wrong rather than, "This is beautiful." A lot of people misidentify excitement as fear. What expectations do you have with your body? When you function from rightness and wrongness, you eliminate awareness. What have you decided is right with your body? What have you decided is wrong with your body? It's a constant state of being in question with your body and not doubting it. Ask for a creationship with your body like you've never chosen before. Do you do boredom so you can be entertained? Go outside and do nothing until you are not bored. In 533, a twenty-eight-year-old general named Belisarius sailed from Constantinople with 15,000 men to reconquer North Africa from the Vandals, a kingdom that had held it for nearly a century since the sack of Rome. The last time the Eastern Empire had attempted the crossing, the entire fleet had been destroyed. Belisarius landed, defeated the Vandal king in two battles, entered Carthage without a fight, sat on the enemy's throne, and was awarded the first proper Roman triumph in five hundred years. Then Justinian sent him to retake Italy with 7,000 troops. He took Sicily, took Naples, took Rome, and held it against a Gothic army that outnumbered him roughly twenty-to-one for over a year, personally leading cavalry charges from the crumbling Aurelian Walls. When the Goths offered him the crown of the Western Roman Empire, he pretended to accept, walked into Ravenna, arrested the Gothic leadership, and shipped them to Constantinople. Italy was Roman again. And Justinian, terrified of the man who had made it possible, recalled him, stripped his command, and never gave him the resources to finish anything again. Today's guests are Matteo and Matthew Storm, the father-and-son hosts of Lost Roman Heroes, who devoted a five-part series and over five hours to the life of Belisarius. We discuss why a man who did more than anyone since Aurelian to restore the Roman Empire has been almost completely erased from popular memory, how the Plague of Justinian and a volcanic winter destroyed everything Belisarius had reconquered, why Procopius wrote two radically contradictory portraits of the same man, and whether Antonina was the most unfairly maligned woman in Byzantine history or one of its most destructive. We look at why Justinian gave the eunuch Narses everything he never gave Belisarius and what that reveals about how empires manage the men they depend on, why the legend of Belisarius blinded and begging in the streets has persisted for fifteen hundred years despite being almost certainly false, and whether a civilization truly dies when its last true believer falls.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

That's exactly the deal Michael Girdley brings to Heather Endresen and Mills Snell in this episode of Acquisitions Anonymous. The business sells subscription access to an AI-powered digital assistant capable of scheduling meetings, drafting emails, creating presentations, conducting research, generating images, and more. At first glance, the valuation looks almost too good to pass up—but once the hosts dig into how the product is built, the real debate begins. Is this a defensible SaaS business, or simply a wrapper around ChatGPT and Claude that could disappear the next time OpenAI releases a product update?Along the way, the hosts explore AI wrappers, customer stickiness, switching costs, marketing moats, vertical SaaS opportunities, and what makes an AI business valuable in a world where the underlying technology is improving every month. It's a fascinating discussion about buying businesses during one of the fastest-moving technology shifts in history.Key Highlights:- AI assistant business listed for $500K on $1.4M revenue and approximately $340K EBITDA (about 1.5x earnings)- Discussion of AI "wrapper" businesses and whether they have sustainable competitive advantages- Why customer memory and personalization could increase switching costs—but may not be enough- Debate over generic AI tools versus vertical, industry-specific AI solutions- Final verdict: all three hosts give the business a thumbs down despite the attractive valuationSubscribe to weekly our Newsletter and get curated deals in your inboxAdvertise with us by clicking hereDo you love Acquanon and want to see our smiling faces? Two chip stocks recently drove seventeen percent of the entire global stock market's return in a single month — which tells you just how concentrated the AI trade has become, and how exposed the average investor now is without realising it. In this video we look at how much wealth an AI crash could actually destroy, with estimates from Dean Baker, former IMF chief economist Gita Gopinath, and Oliver Wyman running into the tens of trillions of dollars. We cover why the usual places to hide — small caps, value funds, international stocks — are now packed with AI stocks, what the Bank for International Settlements found when it compared today's buildout to the great railway and dot-com bubbles, and why a technology being real has never been enough to protect the people who overpaid for it. This isn't a crash prediction. It's a look at the downside risk, the illusion of diversification, and why boring, unexciting investing tends to win in the end.Patrick's Books:Statistics For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3eerLA0Derivatives For The Trading Floor: https://amzn.to/3cjsyPFCorporate Finance: https://amzn.to/3fn3rvC Ways To Support The Channel:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/PatrickBoyleOnFinanceBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/patrickboyle

Financial freedom, discipline, faith, and better decision-making are all connected. In this video, I break down how to compound your way to freedom by making stronger decisions when you're tired, tested, under pressure, or looking for relief. The biggest lesson is simple: freedom is built by compounding good decisions over time. What do you desire that you haven't been willing to ask for? What if you could pull it into your life magically, would you? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action, Simone Milasas talks with Julia Sotas Mattis about creating magic in your life through energy pulls, complete with two guided energy pulls. When you do an energy pull, you are working with the consciousness of the universe. You are letting the universe know your request and you are moving energy to facilitate receiving your request. The energy pull is the perfect starting point to use chaos and discover the type of wizard you are with energy. What magic are you capable of that you have not yet acknowledged you are capable of? What if everything in life is way easier than you think it is? Questions And Tools: "What chaos am I?" "What magic am I?" "I created that. Wow, how great am I? What else is possible?" "What is magical for me? What lights my fire?" "Universe, what do I desire beyond what I can possibly imagine?" "Dear universe, what else is possible?" Tools: Reading is so powerful What would you like to do that you are not choosing? Do energy pulls. Be willing to receive what you are asking for. What action are you taking? What are the greatest possibilities available for your business? We misidentify so much that working hard is going to create greater, but it's not. What if relaxation was required to create and generate anything and everything? Where are you being so autonomous and refusing to ask for help? What if asking for help and asking to receive more is actually the bravest thing that you could choose? Receive all energies. True receiving is opening up to the entirety of the universe; not controlling what you will and won't receive. Choice is our super power! Magic is choosing what works. Acknowledge you are the source of creation of everything. Start being that brilliance and ask for what you desire and require. If you want to create more magic, acknowledge the magic you already are creating. It will strengthen your relationship with your own magic and expand that magic. When you create magic say, "I created that. Wow, how great am I? What else is possible?" Joy can ignite more magic. Know what brings you joy. Your life is your business. What are the energies of magic for you? What lights your fire? What makes your life worth living? Ask for all of the things you desire that you can't even imagine right now; you don't need to. What energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, possibilities, power, potency and profitability can you be to create a reality beyond this reality with total ease? Everything that is, times a godzillion, will you destroy and uncreate it? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, creations, bases and beyonds. How many of you are trying to get it right whilst thinking you are wrong, when in truth, what if you asked for freedom? Everything that is, times a godzillion, will you destroy and uncreate it? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, creations, bases and beyonds. Destroy and uncreate any blocks you have to receiving that much magic. Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, creations, bases and beyonds. what energy, space, consciousness, choice, magic, miracles, mysteries, possibilities, power, potency and profitability can you be to create a reality of magic totally beyond this reality for all eternity with total ease? When Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez laughed off Woke 1.0, she attempted to distance herself from a movement she not only helped build but also led. Because the DSA is ascendant, they're hoping to pivot to kitchen table issues just long enough to trick otherwise sane people into voting for them.Hasan Piker started wearing suits. Abdul El-Sayed is attempting to draw in Trump supporters by showcasing his white grandparents. And out in Texas, James Talarico is making ads with his Paw Paw. They're just regular folks, like you and me. Well, except that they want to tear America down to the studs and rebuild it as a woked-up socialist paradise. But shsh. Nothing to see here, move along, move along.Woke 1.0 wasn't just some silly thing that happened to them one time. It is a deeply held belief system that has been passed on through the generations and mandates conformity across all institutions and culture. It is not an ideology so much as the biggest cult in American history. As we've watched their power weaken after Trump's second win, we see them now more clearly than ever trying to cling to it. Calling white people racist gets louder. Ordering women to obey the rules of language, like the refusal to use the word “cis” or whether or not dating bisexual men, makes you homophobic. Cults must always control the women, separate them from their children. True for Charles Manson, Jim Jones, or Scientology. It's so bad on the Left now that the only right women fight for now is the right to kill their own babies. From White Fragility to protecting women in sports or locker rooms, not to mention children, the once and former feminists are MIA. Many of them are so desperate to be led and dominated by men that they are becoming Muslim reverts:Back in the 1970s, women were also vulnerable and impressionable because the Counter Culture revolution was all about leaving traditional values, like family and religion, behind to “find yourself.” Women were suddenly free, yet all they seemed to want was to find someone to follow. All of those white college girls of privilege were either sucked into cults, moving into vans, or shooting up banks.Meanwhile, the black community was vulnerable, too, and that is how cult leaders like Jim Jones took advantage of them. He was selling things not that different from today's Left. The Origins of Woke 1.0I'll never forget May 25th of 2016. I decided to splurge for my daughter's 18th birthday by taking her to see Hamilton on Broadway, with nearly the entire original cast. The tickets, flight, and hotel were too expensive, but we'd never get this moment back, so why not? It was the same year my daughter would visit the NYU campus, have her prom, and I would be doing everything I could to elect Hillary Clinton as the first female President of the United States, with the doomed hashtag #imwithher.I was part of a generation of parents who wanted to not just be better but to perfect ourselves, our children, and our world. I can't pinpoint exactly when we transformed from anti-establishment Gen-Xers to helicopter parents. But I know it had to do with the therapy culture of the 1990s, capped off by Columbine in 1999, 9/11, and the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that followed. Something was wrong, not just with all of us, but with our country too.The person elected to heal us from all of this collective, multi-generational trauma was Barack Obama, who became our spiritual leader and our male role model. 2012 was the moment Obama and the millennial do-gooder establishment that surrounded him sought to make our country better through indoctrination in public schools and universities.Hillary Clinton was chosen as the torchbearer, but she lacked Obama's charisma and had nothing to sell the public that they wanted except one thing: identity politics. It wasn't enough. Our cult over-reacted to Trump's win, as though it was the FBI showing up outside the Koresh compound. It was Doomsday and that dark cloud would cover everything we controlled, from Hollywood to the legacy media to book publishing to fashion to influencer culture. We drew a line, and if you wanted in, you could not cross it. If you wanted out, all you had to do was question authority. But it was what we weren't watching that would be our biggest problem later. We weren't watching the kids. Teenage WastelandWhat happened to the nation's young people, having been indoctrinated in the oppressor/oppressed mindset, where they saw racism, homophobia, transphobia, and Islamophobia everywhere they looked, even before Trump won, kicked into motion an apocalyptic fantasy that would justify everything they did, from protests to violence to assassinations. The internet was their fantasy world, which gave many of them absolute power. This was true whether it was social justice warriors who ultimately led the transgender contagion among young girls, or the boys who gravitated to 4-chan and would eventually lead to the rise of the mass shooter influencer, like Tyler Robinson, Matthew David Crooks, or Luigi Mangione. The first real sign of trouble happened nine years ago at Evergreen College. When I first saw this story, I was already pulling away from the cult, but even then, I was afraid to put it on social media because I knew it would be seen as “racist.” And yet, by burying this story, the Left set itself up for much worse down the road.Violence showed up as early as 2015 during Woke 1.0, when Trump supporters were often beaten, kicked, and spat on. The protests at Trump's inauguration seemed to be a natural extension of the mass hysteria that consumed the Left in 2016. It would only get worse. The violence we're seeing on the Left only escalated, culminating in a full-blown revolution on the streets in 2020, a mob demanding diners raise their fist for Black Lives Matter, and authoritarianism rising from a generation raised to believe they have the right to tear down what they didn't build and make the whole country pay because of it.That put power briefly back in the hands of Joe Biden, who pandered to the mob. They believed the false narratives around January 6th, decided MAGA was the cult, and walked away from this story. They barely even talk about it now.The entire Democratic Party became the administrators at Evergreen, too crippled by white guilt to provide the necessary leadership and discipline these kids needed before they graduated and joined the workforce. But even still, the most dangerous legacy Woke 1.0 leaves behind isn't what it's done to kids or to culture, to our sense of history or to our unity as a country. No, in dividing us into the oppressed and the oppressor, it opened the door to America's enemies to exploit the sitting ducks on the Left and name Islam as the most oppressed and thus hand it the most power. Then the enemy walked through the door we left open.Woke 2.0My daughter was three when the planes hit the towers. I remember waking up to the news. Imagine the days before we all had cell phones, or even social media. I had to call my friend and tell her to turn on the news. This was the first time America had been attacked on this level since Pearl Harbor. But terrorism accomplished very little for Islam. It turned the US and the world against them. They were feared and even hated. Our country would transform into a surveillance state, and there's an argument to be made that everything we're living through now is not because of COVID but because of 9/11.Changing hearts and minds would be the way the Islamic world would rise from the ashes. Before long, there was a new word that controlled our thought and speech: Islamophobia.I didn't realize how deep it all went until 2017, the same year as Evergreen. Wonder Woman had come out. My daughter really loved it, but she was afraid to say so online. Why? Because Gal Gadot was an Israeli who trained with the IDF.I was as shocked by this development as I was when she told me her friend was becoming a “he” and wanted “top surgery.” What on earth were they teaching our kids? Idiot liberals like me had no idea. And by the time many of us figured it out, it was too late.Palestine joined the wheel of oppression and took its place in the hierarchy long before October 7th. Hamas attacked Israel, and Putin invaded Ukraine with Joe Biden in power. They clearly saw him as a weak and addled president who would not be able to manage these wars, so what better time to test the hearts and minds campaigns and the way our enemies had begun to destroy us from within.October 7th wasn't a random attack. It was an act of such extreme violence that Israel would have no choice but to go to war, and in so doing, a worldwide campaign to defend the oppressed in Palestine could turn the entire world against Israel. But it wasn't until the rise of Zohran Mamdani, Hasan Piker, and now Abdul El-Sayed and the entire DSA that we could see how fruitful the decades-long hearts-and-minds campaign really was. The Holocaust, to these young people, barely matters. They have no idea what Stalin did, what Mao did, or even really what Hitler did. And they know better than to criticize Islam because that would make them a racist. There was only one place left to go.Just like the leap from World War I to World War II, so too would the jump from Woke 1.0 to Woke 2.0 land on the eternal scapegoat: the Jews. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Islam and Socialism. Islam and Black Lives Matter. Islam and Medicare for all. These two movements have so much in common, from controlling thought and speech to controlling women and children. But really, it's all about their shared enemies, Israel and the US.Woke 2.0 isn't just the Left, however. It's also a large portion of the Right who have named Israel as the ultimate evil as well, so much so that they are following Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson down the rabbit hole to deflate any offense against the rising radicalism — terrorism - on the Left. Both Nick Fuentes and Hasan Piker have chimed in to declare Candace is helping to defeat the Right and absolve the Left. They can't believe their luck. What unites all of them is their conclusion that Israel and the Jews are the problem.China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea know us better than we know ourselves. Who needs bombs when you have white fragility? Who needs censorship when you have cancel culture? But Islam that wants more. They seek to overtake and convert the United States the way we once feared the Communists might. With the oppressor/oppressed ideology and the rise of Islamo-Marxism, there is no stopping them now. A TikTok user quoting Sharifa Alkhateeb and an Iranian. They just needed the right script, and they found it with helpless resistance libs who have run out of options and Gen-Z, raised on convenience culture who are lured in by the promise of free stuff. Who needs suicide vests and box cutters when you have TikTok?We would start two failed wars after 9/11 called the “War on Terror.” People like me were convinced we were wrong. Now, just as with Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare, considering how it all turned out, I have to wonder. This is a public episode. The most dangerous threat to your business isn't the competition, the economy, or technology. It's the blind spot you can't see in yourself. In this episode of DarrenDaily On-Demand, Darren Hardy makes the case that leadership is decided less by what you do than by who you are, and that self-awareness is the skill that compounds every other one. He contrasts two executives with nearly identical resumes whose companies moved in opposite directions, and points to research showing just how much performance leaks away when a leader leads blind. Without handing you the easy fixes, Darren walks through the questions that expose your triggers, your listening, and the habits quietly shaping your culture. This episode dives into how to lead from the inside out, starting with the one person you've never fully studied. Get more personal mentoring from Darren each day. What happens when one deleted text turns into a full-blown story in your head—or when you find yourself dreading coming home to your own spouse? This week, we're talking about the stories we tell ourselves in marriage and how those internal narratives can quietly become the lens through which we see our entire relationship. From deleted texts and phone privacy to resentment, emotional disconnection, trust, marriage communication and feeling unhappy at home, I'm breaking down how assumptions can start feeling like facts—and how quickly we begin looking for evidence that proves the story we've already written about our partner. The question I keep coming back to: What story is each spouse telling themselves… and is it actually true? If you've ever overanalyzed your spouse's behavior, questioned their intentions, felt disconnected in your marriage or wondered whether your relationship problems are as bad as they feel in your head, this episode is for you. This week, Alex is joined by Marvel Snap streamer and physical TCG enthusiast: GreGor! The duo kicks things off by chatting about the booming physical card game scene, including Riftbound, Magic: The Gathering, and the upcoming Cyberpunk TCG. Plus, they share some massive updates regarding The Snap Chat's live show at PAX West! Then, it's time for a huge OTA Balance Patch Review. Alex and GreGor break down the targeted nerf to Wilson Fisk (and why it barely moves the needle for his archetype). They also roast the baffling buffs to Drax and Groot, celebrate the impressive new stats on Hawkeye, and discuss why the Firehair buff might be exactly what the Destroy archetype needs right now.Next, they celebrate the off-meta genius of Zapgaze, who shockingly took home the Golden Gauntlet World Championship with a relatively inexpensive Cerebro deck featuring M'Baku! Finally, they review the newest releases:Red Wolf: Why this 2/1 scaler is drastically underperforming in the meta and failing to find a home outside of Thanos decks.Doctor Octopus: GreGor defends this Quick Draw resetting tech card, explaining why it's actually a sleeper hit for Silver Surfer and Thanos shells.Death (Fractured Frontier): Is this 5-Cost resurrect card completely dead on arrival? Alex and GreGor brainstorm wild combos using Weapon X, Killmonger, and Tombstone, but ultimately worry that it falls prey to Stardust and Cosmo far too easily.Join Alex Coccia and special guest GreGor as they chat about this and more on this episode of The Snap Chat—and catch Cozy and Alex every week as they discuss all things Marvel Snap.Have a question or comment for Cozy and Alex? Enterprise account executives are now signing for $200,000 salaries, $200,000 variable comp plans, and up to half a million dollars in equity at sign-on. Meanwhile, offer acceptance at the top AI companies sits at 45% and half of the 38,000 startup sales reps in San Francisco and New York have taken a new job in the last two years. In this episode, Sam Jacobs, AJ Bruno, and Asad Zaman go hosts-only on why the sales talent market broke, what QuotaPath's compensation data across more than 1,400 companies says about quota attainment splitting into a barbell, and why Paul Graham calling go-to-market bogus says more about Silicon Valley's blind spot than it does about sales. Plus, where young sellers still get their start, whether a CRO can be great without ever carrying a bag, why go-to-market cannot rescue a company that has lost product-market fit, and what HubSpot's 20% stock drop signals for every SaaS business trying to make the AI transition. Key Takeaways: - The AI buildout has drained the two talent pools it depends on, and compensation is repricing in real time. As Asad Zaman, CEO of STA, described the enterprise AE market: "Enterprise account executives now get paid $200,000 salaries, $200,000 variable comp plans, up to half a million dollars in equity at sign-on. That used to be $150,000 to $175,000 at the top end, just like a year and a bit ago." With 38,000 startup software sellers in San Francisco and New York and a quarter of them changing jobs in the last twelve months, the constraint on AI companies hitting escape velocity is no longer capital, it is people. - The jobs data cuts against the automation narrative. Sam Jacobs, CEO of Pavilion, pointed to the Philippines outsourcing sector, 8% of that country's GDP, where employment in IT and business outsourcing is up 20% to 1.9 million workers and industry revenue is up 30% to $42 billion since the launch of ChatGPT: "I just think, you know, it's Jevons' paradox. It is what happens with every new piece of technology. Everybody thinks the technology is going to wipe everybody out, and instead the economy adapts." Companies are leaner per dollar of revenue and still cannot hire fast enough. - Quota attainment is no longer distributed the way comp plans assume. QuotaPath's first-half numbers put 58% of AEs on track against annual quota versus 55% a year ago, but as AJ Bruno, CEO of QuotaPath, explained, the shape underneath moved: "the standard deviation is way higher this year. Meaning that the winners are going to be winning more … So it's more like a barbell than it is a bell curve." At some AI companies two reps out of ten are closing half the entire number, which breaks the capacity math most sales leaders use to set targets. - For individual sellers, the window matters more than the title. Asad Zaman's advice to reps weighing a step up into leadership: "this is the moment where you can make millions of dollars right now … So don't make silly choices … Become a leader later. Go make money right now." He now benchmarks offers on whether 300% of plan clears a million dollars, and warns that private equity portfolio companies that never gave equity to individual contributors are losing these candidates outright. Enjoy the episode? Send us a text! They didn't make a mistake.A mistake is grabbing the wrong bag at baggage claim. A mistake is an accident you didn't choose. What happened to you was a choice. They knew. And calling it a mistake is just a softer word for something that isn't soft at all.So the anger makes sense. The urge to make them feel a fraction of what you're feeling makes sense.Which brings us to the actual question. How do you punish a spouse who cheated? There are four doors. Body, mind, heart, and soul. Physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual. And three that people walk through most often: their money, their reputation, and their kids. Here's the part that gets left out. They all work. You really can make their life miserable. You can keep them guilty for thirty years. You can call the boss. You can tell the church. You can make the children choose. The problem isn't that punishment fails. The problem is what it costs the person doing it.Destroy them financially and you may be destroying money you need. Destroy their reputation and you hand your own name to the same gossip. Keep them anxious and guilty and you have to stay in that room with them to do it. And parental alienation isn't protection for your kids. It's your pain, routed through them. You have every right to punish them. The question is what it turns you into, and whether that's the person you want to be five years from now.If you're struggling in your marriage, don't wait. Silicon Bites Ep380 | 2026-08-14 | In December 2025, Vladimir Putin stood in front of Russia's military command and complained that European leaders were "stoking up hysteria" about the Russian threat. That was the public performance, reported from the Russian record by RBC-Ukraine. Is this just a clear-cut case of projection, or is there something more to this performative, fake outrage?Misunderstood Moscow. Warmongering Europeans. This narrative turns the world on its head. Finding out your spouse had an affair is one of the most devastating things a person can go through. After almost 20 years in family law, here's the hard truth I have to sit down and tell those clients: the affair itself probably won't change your divorce. But how you react to it can change everything. In this episode of No One Dies from Divorce, I'm joined by CoilLaw attorney Savannah Lawrence to talk about affairs, betrayal, and what actually happens when infidelity meets family court. This one is close to my heart, because the gap between the emotional damage of betrayal and what the law will actually do about it is one of the hardest things we have to explain to a client. Here's what most people don't realize. Utah is a no-fault state, which means the divorce is almost always granted on irreconcilable differences no matter who did what. Infidelity can matter in a very narrow set of circumstances, and I actually argued a case on exactly this in front of the Utah Supreme Court, but the scope is tiny and it only touches alimony. For the vast majority of people, the painful reality is that cheating will not hand you the win you're looking for. There is no justice or revenge waiting for you in divorce court, and chasing it usually costs you more than it ever gives back.Savannah and I get into when an affair genuinely does affect a case, like when the cheating spouse spent marital money on the affair or when it directly impacts the kids, and why even those are harder to prove than people expect. We talk about the myth that your ex is hiding piles of money somewhere, and why that rabbit hole almost always costs far more than it recovers. Then we get to the part that matters most: how betrayal makes people quietly sabotage their own case. The furious text message. The social media post. Following your ex to prove the affair, which crosses into stalking and harassment faster than people think. The blow-up that becomes a domestic violence charge or a protective order. Betrayal rarely destroys your case. Your reaction to it can. We share real, practical advice for staying out of that trap, including how to keep your communication clean, why revenge is a word I stop my clients from ever using, and how to keep your kids completely out of the middle of it.If you're living through this right now, please hear the most important thing we say. Let yourself grieve, lean on your people, and get a good therapist. But keep your emotional healing separate from your legal strategy, because they don't move at the same speed, and the calmer you stay, the stronger you come out the other side.⭐ Follow Jill Coil: https://www.instagram.com/jillcoil/
Pick up my new book The American Nightmare! => Click Here! In Today's Episode I spent years trapped in a vicious loop, repeating the same painful mistakes in business and relationships because I fell for the ultimate modern trap. The world tells us to keep our options open, go with our feelings, and figure it out later. But that is the exact trap of the undecided man, and it will destroy your relationships, your finances, and your business. At 50 years old and running multiple companies, I am finally learning the lessons that I should have mastered decades ago. The truth is that every single seed you plant will bear fruit. If you are struggling today, it is because of the seeds you planted yesterday. If you do not learn the lesson, the cycle will repeat itself over and over until you feel enough pain to make a change. In this episode, we break down the stark contrast between reacting and deciding. I share why a slow yes beats a fast regret every single time, and how learning to say a firm, immediate no, even to dear friends, is the only way to protect your business and your family ecosystem. I developed my own model based on integrity, honesty, uncompromised belief in God, peace, freedom, and family structure. It is time to set your principles early, end the debates in your head, and stop letting a score keeping world run your life Warriors Rise! In The Londinium Chronicles, Gaius (John Batchelor) and Germanicus (Michael Vlahos) explore the intersections of Roman history and modern geopolitics. and Germanicus: In their expanding Londinium wine bar, the hosts discuss the unraveling of Ukraine. Germanicus describes a strategic bane where Russia utilizes siege tactics to destroy the Ukrainian economy, targeting water treatment plants and fuel hubs. The depletion of US interceptors represents a ballistic bane, allowing missiles to strike with impunity. Germanicus dismisses the new US nuclear strategy as hysteria born from a weak position. (1)

Writer Naomi Kanakia has spent her adult life reading the so-called “great books,” those classic works of literature which are–depending who you ask–either deeply unfashionable, or a time-honored testament to human accomplishment. With What's So Great About the Great Books: Why You Should Read Classic Literature (Even Though It May Destroy You) (Princeton UP, 2026) Kanakia, a devoted lay reader, unpacks popular anxieties surrounding classic writers like Milton, Tolstoy, and Proust. Using the unpretentious approach she has cultivated on her popular Substack, Woman of Letters, Kanakia addresses common reservations about the great books, questions about why we should bother with literature with dated politics, or books exceedingly difficult to read. For plenty of readers, particularly those who came of age in the last decade, the answers may not be clear. Kanakia offers an intriguing reminder to challenge ourselves, to look beyond the walls of the ideology we have constructed for ourselves. (Just don't ask her about “Leviathan” by Thomas Hobbes.) “What's So Great about the Great Books” is out now with Princeton University Press. Megan Peck Shub (AKA Galley Hag) is a writer, journalist, and a producer who has won Emmy and Peabody awards for her work on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO. A top performer can still be a terrible investment. If their results come at the expense of your team, your culture, and your standards, the real cost is much higher than their monthly revenue. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why tolerating toxic high performers can quietly destroy morale, weaken leadership, and push your best people out the door. Talent does not excuse bad behavior. When one employee is allowed to break the rules because they produce strong numbers, everyone else notices. And eventually, they stop believing the standards matter. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why tolerating toxic behavior becomes a silent endorsement• How one high performer can damage the morale of an entire team• Why the hidden cost of turnover can outweigh one person's revenue• How enforcing standards protects culture and strengthens leadership The truth is simple: Culture is defined by the worst behavior you are willing to tolerate. Set the standard. Address the problem. Give people the opportunity to correct it. And if they refuse, protect the team. You cannot build a powerful company on a toxic foundation. The ego has landed.
What if spiritual warfare isn't only personal—but can also influence entire cultures and nations? In this candid and provocative conversation, Pastors Josh, Carlos, and Paul explore how sin and spiritual deception can work their way into societal structures, cultural values, and public policy. They examine religious liberty, immigration, competing belief systems, and the responsibility of Christians to recognize values that conflict with Scripture. This episode is not about viewing people as the enemy. It is about remembering that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood” and learning to identify the spiritual forces and ideas shaping the world around us. In this episode, you'll learn: Why spiritual warfare can be both personal and societal How sin can become embedded within cultures and institutions What Deuteronomy 32 may reveal about nations and spiritual powers Why shared religious values matter within a society How Christians can oppose unbiblical ideas without treating people as enemies Why believers must recognize the enemy's schemes and stand firmly on God's Word Stand firm. Think biblically. Live free.
Before Ivan was the Terrible, he was a young tsar who had tried and failed to destroy the last fragments of Genghis Khan’s Empire in the Volga River Valley. In October of 1552, the 22-year-old Ivan stood outside the walls of a city that had raided, humiliated, and enslaved Russians for over a century. The Kazan Khanate, successor state to the Golden Horde and one of the wealthiest trading cities on the Volga, had already repulsed two of Ivan's previous campaigns — both times thanks as much to the Russian weather as to Tatar arms. But this time was different. Ivan had spent two years building a prefabricated fortress hundreds of miles upstream and floating it downriver, creating Russia's first standing professional infantry corps, recruiting an engineer whose identity remains disputed to this day, and stockpiling enough gunpowder to blow the city's gates apart simultaneously at dawn. When 48 barrels detonated on the morning of October 2nd, the walls of Kazan came down — and with them, the last major Tatar khanate on Russia's eastern frontier Today’s guest is Mark Galeotti, author of Siege of Kazan 1552: Ivan the Terrible Breaks the Kazan Khanate, to walk us through one of the most consequential — and most misunderstood — battles in Russian history. We'll talk about why the siege was as much an intervention in a Tatar civil war as an act of Russian imperialism, how the Muscovite army that showed up in 1552 was fundamentally different from the feudal cavalry force that had failed twice before, and what really happened inside Kazan's walls when the assault nearly collapsed into looting and disaster before Ivan was physically dragged onto his horse and led to the banner. We'll also look at what came after the victory — the four-year guerrilla war Ivan didn't plan for, the rapid conquest of Astrakhan, and how the fall of Kazan set Moscow on a collision course with the Ottoman Empire that would define Eurasian geopolitics for the next two hundred years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
