Hosted by Karen Smith and Marlynn Bohannon, Are you ready to be strong is a weekly podcast re-watch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Every week we will watch a new episode and do a deep dive on questions we have, fun little tid-bits we may find on the internet, fan theories and stories that we have collected over the years while attending Buffy Conventions and being involved in the fandom during it's hay day. We would also love to feature fan art and fan works from you guys! If you have a video, fanfic, piece of fan art or memorabilia you want featured on our show please use the contact form on our website or email us at areyoureadytobestrongpod@gmail.com
This week we discuss episode 4 of season 2, Inca Mummy Girl. This episode is very much a filler episode where not a lot happens but it's still worth talking about. And we do. Join the conversation at areyoureadytobestrong.com.
It feels like we've been waiting a whole season for this episode. This week we introduce ourselves to two of the most deliciously evil characters in the show. It's a fun ride! Let's discuss.
There is one word/phrase/statement that pretty much sums up this episode... Ew! While we both really like this episode, there are some problematic issues to discuss. This week we are breaking down Episode 2 of Season 2, Some Assembly Required. And we discuss everything from the relationship dynamics to the down right Yuckiness. Enjoy!
Buffy is back and so are we baby! We kick off season 2 with a break down of the season premiere, When She Was Bad. Buffy is obviously going through some stuff and it always helps to talk about it. So let's talk about it! Join us each Tuesday for new episodes. Season 2 is twice as long as season 1 so we have a lot to cover and we aren't messing around this season. We are so glad to be back with you and can't wait to share some of our favorite episodes!Note: Please excuse Lynn's audio. We are working out the kinks of being gone for a while. I promise it will be better next week. We aren't professionals so we're still figuring this out as we go.
This week we are talking about the finale for season 1, Episode 12, Prophecy Girl! This week we are talking about our favorite moments from the season 1 finale, we do show a little love to Xander and we cover what we are super excited for in season 2. Thank you for joining us on this journey. It's been so much fun so far! Can't wait for season 2!
This week we breakdown episode 11, of season 1 Out of Mind Out of Sight. We cover a lot of things in this episode. We discuss whether Marcie is a victim or a villain and what the difference between those maybe. We also tackle the "Have a Nice Summer" debate...is it really the high school kiss of death?
This week we discuss Episode 10, Nightmares. We get into how much foreshadowing is in this episode (because it's a lot) and we even get into some of our own greatest fears!
This week we are talking about S1E9 Puppet Show! For being the lowest rated episode in the series this is one of our favorites! We express our love for everything Sid and how we think this episode could have been so much more than it was (even though we love it as is!). We get to meet Principal Snyder in this episode and that's always a good time!
This week we break down I Robot You Jane, season 1 episode 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We touch on a lot of stuff in this episode and because of our new show format, it moves really fast! We tie this episode in with several current events (like Catfishing and the NXIVM scandal) and we finally get to meet Jenny Calendar! She is one of our faves!
**Please excuse our progress**. Karen is still getting set up in her new place and trying to figure out where the best spot is to record. We didn't want to delay the episode so we are just going with it this week. Please accept our humble apologies. This week we are talking all about Season 1, Episode 7 - Angel. We cover everything in this episode, including our love of Darla and what's the story with Angel's tattoo? (Hint...we don't know either...but we talk about it!).
This week we break down season 1, episode 6: The Pack. It's a Karen-less episode of Are You Ready to Be Strong. Let's all wish Karen well as she prepares to move into her new home. Wade, the voice of our intro, is here to sub in for her. We say goodbye to Principal Flutie and Herbert. It's one of my favorite episodes in season 1. I hope you enjoy!Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Free delivery on your first order over $35.FIVERR Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. We also talk about how Joss addresses very real issues in this show just with a Supernatural spin. This week's Featured Fan art is an amazing acrylic painting on gesso board by Scott over at weststudio3.com.
