It is always such a delight to have a conversation with one of the behind-the-scenes folks who rarely get to share their Supernatural experience. Tread Perilously rounds out a witchy October with the annual visit to Supernatural. This year: an episode called "Shut Up, Dr. Phil." To keep his mind off murdering Amy Pond (no, really!), Dean convinces Sam to investigate a spate of murders in Prosperity, Indiana. The victims so far have some ties to real estate in the area. But when a contractor also dies, the signs lead to a witch. Is it the local developer magnate or his wife? Or could it be ... both? Meanwhile, one of the Leviathan's slowly makes his way to Prosperity in the hopes of eliminating Sam and Dean for good. Erik determines, almost immediately, that guest stars Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters are the main reasons Justin chose this witch-focused episode of Supernatural. But the actors both easily earn most valued status as they elevate what might be a more humdrum episode. Despite not appearing on screen, Jim Beaver also turns out to be a MVP. Justin realizes he's starting to forget parts of the show. Erik tries to figure out the season-long plot. Harry Dresden turns out not to be a favorite. A discussion in the weeds leads back to Supergirl and the current state of the MCU, ridiculous sandwiches become a scourge, and a new Batman villain makes a surprise appearance.

CUT! This week, Emily and V go back in time for a retrospective of truly despicable actions and quotes by a truly despicable man, Joss Whedon, whom fandom-at-large gave far too many passes for far too long. From killing off Cordelia Chase to punish Charisma Carpenter to outright racism against Ray Fisher, Joss Whedon's career is as full of people to whom he was joyfully cruel as it is full of nerdcore heavy hitters. Can you really separate art from the artist? What is the line beyond which art just isn't worth it?

Luke joins Peyton Manning, Drew Brees & Tim Tebow as the only other athletes to win both of these service awards in their college career. In the future, Luke hopes to continue to expand his role with Thirst Project and will always strive to make the world a better place.   ABOUT THIRST PROJECT:   Thirst Project started when CEO Seth Maxwell heard about the global water crisis and purchased 1,000 water bottles to hand out and help spread the word. Now, it is a nonprofit organization that travels across the United States speaking at schools to educate students about the global water crisis. 100 percent of all student and public donations raised go directly to funding freshwater wells on the ground in developing nations and impoverished communities to provide people with safe, clean water. Thirst Project does truly lifesaving work; providing clean, safe, drinkable water to impoverished communities all over the world. The Thirst Project is committed to ending the global water crisis and has made a bold commitment to do what no organization has ever done before and give the entire Kingdom of Eswatini safe, clean drinking water within a decade. Eswatini has the single-highest-density HIV/AIDS population of any country in the world, and water plays an incredibly critical role in effectively treating and managing AIDS. The organization has already provided over 360,000 people safe, clean drinking water through 1800 water projects in 13 countries in the last ten years. Over the years Thirst Project has partnered with many celebrities including: John Cena, Jennifer Garner, Kristen Stewart, Cameron Boyce, Kevin Nealon, Bella Thorne, Pauley Perrette, Kendrick Sampson, Debby Ryan, Charisma Carpenter, Lance Bass, Nash Grier, and many more. https://www.thirstproject.org/

Growing up one of my all time favorite shows was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We called it "appointment television". I was spending time queuing up my VCR so I could record each episode. I'm joined by my childhood friends Mikey and Charles who are also super fans. We decided to space out our chats about the seasons since we wanted to give it a proper rewatch. So expect a Season 2 deep dive soon. For now we just give a starter episode into the world of Buffy, the eventual Scooby gang, and Sunnydale. Enjoy! ⚰️

But, also, Eric Roberts has a plan that makes literally no sense but seems profitable. Like the My Pillow guy.

Until recently, investigative reporter Lila Shapiro largely covered mysteries from the publishing world in her job at Vulture, writing stories, as she describes them, that “revolved around Twitter controversies that turned out to be more complicated than they initially seemed to be.” That sort of counter-narrative approach, in addition to her Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom, led Shapiro to take an interest in Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and writer and director of two Avengers movies. In addition, in 2017, Whedon's ex-wife had thrown a hand-grenade into Whedon's pristine image: she wrote a scathing piece about his infidelities, and disingenuous feminism, during their marriage. When Whedon's new show for HBO, The Nevers, was announced, Shapiro, in 2019, decided it was time for a profile. The problem was, Whedon's team didn't say yes, but didn't exactly say no either. The dialogue would continue between the two parties for years, and Shapiro's ask evolved along with Whedon's travails. Eventually, the story would become more complex, as actors Ray Fisher, Charisma Carpenter, and others came forth publicly and on social media to speak about their negative experiences with Whedon. Continuing to report without his participation, Shapiro and the director thus began a long dance that ended in an interview that was at times, tense, emotional and confessional over two days in his Santa Monica, Calif. home.
