You may have seen in the news that a report has been released by the Australian College of Nursing making the recommendation put more nurses in school (great) to weigh kids (not great.) Thankfully the pushback has been swift, clear, measured and evidence based and we share our thoughts on the idea. We thought Dr Kyla's response and The Embrace Hub response on The Project were both great ***trigger warning for stigmatising images in the edit*** The Mexican Corn Salad recipe Meg mentioned can be found here, it's delicious.

Principal Snyder has sentenced Buffy, on pain of expulsion, to set up the upcoming Parent/Teacher Night. Meanwhile, two new vampires have moved into Sunnydale - a cheerfully homicidal maniac named Spike and his spacey girlfriend, Drusilla. They tell the Anointed One they'll ‘take care' of his Slayer problem. Buffy tries to keep her mom from meeting Principal Snyder at Parent/Teacher Night, but the two do meet, and Principal Snyder apparently does not have nice things to say about Buffy. Suddenly, Spike and his goons burst through a window. Buffy and the Scoobies, aided by Angel and Ms. Calendar, defend the school while the parents and teachers hide. Buffy faces off against Spike, fending him off with help from Joyce. Spike runs away, the school is saved, and Joyce is so impressed with Buffy's leadership that she doesn't ground her. The next day, a defeated Spike concedes Buffy will be hard to defeat. He lifts the Anointed One into the morning sunlight, killing him, and takes over as the lead vampire in Sunnydale.CreditsHosted by Allie Press & Nick MercerEdited by Allie PressMusic by InflatonCultArtwork by Charlotte Fleming DesignConsultation by Evo TerraConnect with us on social media!Email: tabularasabpod@gmail.comTwitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok: @tabularasabpodConnect with Allie on social media:Twitter, Instagram: @DaughterpickTiktok: @futureblackcatbuymeacoffee.com/AlliePressVenmo: Allie-Press
It's finally happening. The moment Alaina and the entire Buffy the Vampire Slayer-loving universe has been waiting for: SPIKE. IS. HERE. That's right — The bleached-blonde British baddie has sauntered into Sunnydale, and he's not alone. He's joined by Drusilla, who may currently seem feeble and harmless, but is as creepy as they come. This week, Buffy tries to survive her initial encounter with this dynamic duo, while Spike annihilates The Anointed One and fully cements himself as the new BIG BAD on the block. Who is this vicious vamp who's weakened Alaina's knees since the 90s? What's his history with Angel? And if he's already killed two slayers, how can Buffy escape being his third? Get ready to sink your teeth into our most swoon-worthy episode yet, because now that Spike's on the scene, Buffy, and this entire series, will never be the same again.New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The only way Edwina could convince her husband to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer was to do a podcast about it. This week listen to Edwina and Jarrod discuss the very campy episode, School Hard.
Spike and Dru come to town at last, and light up Sunnydale with their exquisite horniness. But meanwhile, Buffy has her hands full with bigger problems: parent teacher evening. We're not totally convinced by the "wordplay" in this weeks title, and it calls to mind for Sadie an inexplicable moment in the great tram wars of Edinburgh. We also start working on our Joyce / Cordelia (slash?) fiction, and think of the similarities between juggling being a slayer and a high school student with being a podcaster and an academic.

They're heeeere! In this episode, we discuss Buffy Season 2 Episode 3:School Hard, Wherein We Meet Spike And Dru! (Insert girlish squeal of delight.) We delve into the metaphorical meanings behind Spike's presence in Buffy's life, expose a new shadow self for out plucky slayer, and examine some pretty interesting wardrobe meanings. Also, did we mention Spike and Dru? Please make sure to share us with your Buffy-loving friends, like us on Facebook, and comment anywhere you like, or email us at info@diogenesclubpodcast.com to keep the conversation going. Also, we'd be pleased as punch if you'd write us a review on iTunes, Stitcher, or your listening platform of choice. Kristen & Mike aren't the only ones getting lost in the stacks this week! Chris from Hey, Do You Remember...? sits in for a discussion about School Hard and Inca Mummy Girl. School Hard is more than just a handful of cheeky references to Die Hard - it's also our introduction to Spike! Kristen, Mike, and Chris lay out why this character works so well and why he stands in such stark contrast to the other adversaries the Scoobies have faced thus far. Other topics include: the real reason Spike's known as "William the Bloody", the 'ol "they were on PCP" excuse, and a better way to handle the final scene between Buffy, Spike, and Joyce. Next up is the show's riff on some classic mummy stories - Inca Mummy Girl. On a trip to the Sunnydale museum, ne'er-do-well Rodney accidentally awakens the Mummy. Once a beautiful princess, she can now only regain her youth if she regularly kills. Poor Xander has fallen for this enchanting murderess and must choose between her and his best friend. Kristen, Mike, and Chris discuss the similarities between Ampata's and Buffy's fates as "chosen" girls, break down the practicalities of the curse, lament the wasted potential of Ampata's bodyguard, debate the value of Twinkies, and much more!
