YNFA is kicking off a month of our favorite pop culture vampires! We're down a few podcast hosts for this one, but up a lot of fan-girling with a very special episode about the GOAT of vampire television show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Randall, Bryce and Dayna take a long trip down the hellmouth to revisit some of their favorite episodes from both the WB and CW years, and ask some important questions along the way. Is the Xander factor just too much for a show to overcome in 2022? Why was Alyson Hannigan so good at crying? Why is it always up to the teenage girl to help old British dudes save the world? And to quote Sarah Michelle Gellar: Is it okay to love Buffy even if we no longer love the man who created her? Put on your best leather duster, throw some stakes in your pocket and pull out your best Buffy-speak for this one.

I review Darren Lynn Bousman's "Repo! The Genetic Opera" released in 2008. Repo! The Genetic Opera is a 2008 American science fiction, gothic rock[4] musical horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman with a soundtrack produced by Japanese rock star Yoshiki. Based on the 2002 musical of the same name, which was written and composed by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich, the film stars Alexa Vega, Paul Sorvino, Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Brightman, Paris Hilton, Bill Moseley, Nivek Ogre, and Terrance Zdunich. Repo! premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival in July 2008,[1] followed by a very limited release on November 7, 2008, on seven screens in Pasadena, Chicago, Mobile, Charlotte, Kansas City, Toronto and Ottawa. The film initially received mixed to negative reviews, but gained a cult following similar to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, managing even to fill theaters worldwide with costumed fans performing Shadowcast versions of the movie, which Smith and Zdunich often visit to meet fans.

It's a crazy miracle that "One Night In Bangkok" was a top-three single, but here we are. As we talk about Murray Head's hit song -- written by the guys from ABBA (!) and Tim Rice (!!) -- we also talk about the special weirdness of the early '80s, the least likely musicals, and George Michael's little white shorts. Mystically tainted candy (courtesy of Ethan Rayne) sends Sunnydale's adult population into an emotional time warp, reverting them to reckless teenage personalities. Can Buffy see through the Mayor's distraction to save some delicious babies from being a snake-demon's snack? Key Buffy Bits from this episode include: Disturbed second childhood: the inverted fairytale of the immature parental figures Anthony Stewart Head's natural north London accent and 90's lesbian fashion sense Sub-contracting Evil: the banality of work-a-day demonic forces in Sunnydale's middle American nightmare Untitled Goose Poems "Giles at sixteen? Multi-Mr. Pointy Award-winning author Mary Ellen Iatropoulos returns to discuss Franken-Forrest, Cabin in the Woods, and Joss’ obsession with concepts of hybridization in 421, “Primeval.” And then Season Four comes to it’s oh-so-welcome end with 422, “Restless,” which features some very unsubtle lesbian metaphors, Spike swinging really high, Mayor Meat, and the debate and confusion around the name of the First Slayer. Oh, and we share our perhaps problematic love of the film Ghostbusters. Michaela and David are on a high note with the last two episodes, because "Tabula Rasa" is pretty great. Yup, it's Star Trek o'clock in the Buffy writers' room, so let's do an old-fashioned "everyone forgets who they are" episode. Buffy is in deep shit.In our first episode, Principal Snyder has drafted everyone into fundraising for band uniforms. Snyder is a tool, though, as the mayor has a nefarious plot to drug all the townsfolk with overpriced chocolate, making them regress to middle-school age, without a care in the world and forgetting what adulting is. This was a super fun episode, mostly because Anthony Stewart Head generally plays the role of Giles like he's being asked to work on Sunday without overtime. But now that he regresses to Ripper, he's actually fun to watch and engaging. And he fucks Joyce on a cop car. That's a ship I was adamantly opposed to, and then changed my mind halfway through the episode. It turns out that the whole thing was a distraction, so that some ancient demon snake can get a snack on some babies. I'm sticking by my theory that he's hurt by the fat shaming (his name means Glutton) so he eats babies instead of fully-grown humans to cut his calories. In our second episode, the truth comes out about Angel. Buffy's credibility with the group takes a massive hit, and quite frankly I agree with them. Angel is dangerous, and he's not in control of his good side. This episode wasn't as fun as the previous, but it was paced better. The reveal of the other watcher as a rogue agent and her manipulations of the group played out well, and the wounds are not healed at the end of the day. I wonder what this will mean for the Buffy/Faith relationship.

But, That doesn't keep the rest of the DOrc's from the grind! Each member checks in with news from the various fronts covering more alpha phase gaming, confirmed and otherwise film castings, and even some nerd confessions that take the cast aback. Can't guess what offence could possibly put us in such an uproar? Listen in to find out!
Set aside those turkey carving knives and pick up your wooden stakes: It's time to chat about Buffy. This episode has some INCREDIBLE moments of truth about passion and friendship surrounding fandom that I absolutely adore and don't make a point to hide my adoration. Mary is so, so funny and really exemplifies what it means to love a thing so hard that you do the weirdest (read: BEST) stuff. (Mary neglected to mention that she had a Buffy-themed birthday party one year complete with costumes and a graveyard cake. NBD.) Notes: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is required viewing for all people who like things. Anthony Stewart Head's Taster's Choice commercial. Because why not? Now busier than central Norwich on market day, Armando Iannucci is the man who brought us On The Hour, The Day Today, The Thick Of It, In The Loop, Time Trumpet, Veep and now Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, but despite his hectic schedule, he still found time to drop by the Empire Podcast booth for a natter about Hitler, sneaking into US government buildings and perfecting the Alan whine. Elsewhere, the silver-tongued Anthony Stewart Head is grilled by our own Buffy buffs about his latest, Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, touching on everything from 'squirrel pants' to putting ice cubes in your mouth before you kiss someone. On top of all that, there's a whole load of very important movie news this week - Inbetweeners 2! Expendables 3! Things that aren't sequels! - for you to catch up on, as well as a look forward to Toronto and Venice, plus our review of the critically-contentious blockbuster The Lone Ranger.
Hey ATA Listeners, with this week containing the 4th of July, the writers of our favorite Summer Shows seemed inspired to light off some fireworks as the penultimate episode of Warehouse 13 introduced Anthony Stewart Head as the Season 4 Big Bad Paracelsus, Falling Skies had the Second Mass finally confront Karen's control over Hal and Continuum had Keira reached her breaking point over the trauma of being sent back in time against her will. Although, that wasn't the only excitement to light up the night sky in our discussions on this week's ATA as our Airwaves Rundown section included Woo being frustrated over the apparent cancellation of The Goodwin Games, Nico and I wondering what's up with the strange use of music at the end of Defiance episodes and Nico reviewing the second episode of CBS's new hit Summer Series Under the Dome. Oh and for those of you looking for the most explosive Summer Series of them all Burn Notice, we didn't have a review this week because it was off due to the Independence Day Holiday but we make up for it with a News with Nico, which caused sparks to fly with some exciting Comic Con Panel Appearance Announcements.
Sorry we're a tad late but here we are in all our wonderful, manic, delirious, eye rolling and bad toupee'd splendour! Yes that's right in the lull before the Big Summer Comic-Book blockbusters are upon us I invited our resident king of the Comics, David DeMoss, back into the Diner to discuss, dissect two definitely dismissed and damaged delves in to the genre. It's Mr.Nicolas 'Mad as a bag of insane pink frogs' Cage in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance! Who will like what, if anything? Which tangent will we follow blindly hoping it leads us away from these films?andWhy the hell doesn't Anthony Stewart Head ever get enough screen time?ALL THIS AND MORE this week in the After Movie DinerFIND DAVID at www.aytiws.com and http://traumaticcinematic.com/You can SHOP The After Movie Diner http://www.cafepress.com/aftermoviediner LOTS of original and unique designs available on a variety of clothing styles for all ages, office & home supplies and gifts for all the family! Adam and Andi take a look at what happens to those The Doctor leaves behind, Mickey’s increasing self awareness and how Anthony Stewart Head is both Satan and sexy. But most terrifyingly of all is that we get dangerously close to a full on two part harmony version of the K9 and Company theme tune.
