We've reached the season finale, and things are really getting tense in Sunnydale. Remember that book Giles was looking for? Well, unfortunately it contains an ancient prophecy confirming a terrible fate for Buffy when she faces the Master. Even worse, she finds out about it and decides to quit her Slayer duties once and for all. Join us as we discuss the emotional fallout, Angel finally being useful, Xander redeeming himself to help his friend, and the return of Jenny Calendar.Twitter/X: @Prev_On_BuffyInstagram: @previously_on_buffyTikTok: @previously_on_buffy

But if you die now, then all that you ever were was a monster.” Kara and Penny are joined by Kelly to cover this very special Hellmouth Christmas episode that shows us some of Angelus's backstory, brings back Jenny Calendar and blankets Sunnydale in snow in the middle of a heat wave. Join this trio as they wrestle with their complicated feelings about Angel and his evil past, wonder why Buffy owns so many coats, and for some deep Joyce appreciation. Everybody has a past, and our favorite tweed wearing, library loving, British Watcher is no exception. This week's episode is all about Giles (or should we say “Ripper”) having to confront his demons…literally. Just when things are starting to get steamy between him and Jenny Calendar, he totally gets cockblocked by a demon named Mark of Eyghon that Giles and his friends summoned when they were younger to possess them for fun…ya know just your average college debauchery. Luckily, The Scooby Gang is on the case with Willow stepping up to fill in for Giles as he deals with his heavy baggage. Maybe she has what it takes to be the next Watcher?!New episodes come out every Monday or you can listen early on Amazon Music or early and ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery App.Please support us by supporting our sponsors.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Angel went from Buffy's boyfriend to the Big Bad in season 2. His soulless persona, Angelus, stalked Buffy and her friends, killed Jenny Calendar, tortured Giles, smoke cigarettes, and tried to end the world. Join Judges Steph and Kara as they weigh the evidence for and against Angel's guilt before pronouncing judgment. Is the age gap between Angel and Buffy ok, gross, or illegal? Is Angel culpable for what Angelus does? Do Angel and Buffy belong together? Court is now in session.

The Diogenes Club Podcast: for the love of Buffy and other awesome.
We're FINALLY back after Michelle/ Snard's training and subsequent need for sleep and brain rest instead of editing audio. We're back on schedule though and don't anticipate any more interruptions! In today's episode, we discuss Buffy Season 2 Episode 16: Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, wherein Xander triggers a love spell that promptly goes awry, there is a Buffy Rat, and Jenny Calendar, Drucilla, and Joyce, laughter0induced hernias are had by all BUT alert: this is the Buffyverse so the hilarity of the episode means that the next one will rip out your heart and feed it to you. We observe some evolution in Buffy and Xander's relationship (and thus between Buffy and her Heart), explore the darker side of magic, and through the love spell see a new way to view Angelus' behavior toward Buffy in the coming episodes. Thank you so very much for listening to our podcast!
Angel ups the creep factor this week and starts leaving dead fish, unsettling gifts, and surprisingly tasteful artwork at the homes of the scoobie gang in an attempt to unhinge them with some psychological warfare. Meanwhile, Jenny Calendar uncovers a possible way to get Angel his soul back - for a price. Joshua and Liesl can't agree on the quality of this episode, so expect them to break up and end the podcast. (Jk)
Pour one out for the late lamented Jenny Calendar as Alli and Mary grab a martini and watch Buffy's Passion and Killed By Death. Stalking is seriously business, folks!
Our hosts chat about the mechanics of 90s online dating, how great it is to have a Willow-centric episode, and the amazing introduction of Jenny Calendar, the techno-pagan wonder!

Angelus is going on an art spree, breaking into people’s rooms and drawing them while they sleep. Having had enough, Buffy gathers the Scoobies together for protection as Jenny Calendar puts together her own plan to return Angel’s soul. Join us as we chat about band names, welcome mats and the ominous qualities of oranges with our guest Dael Kingsmill! In Surprise, it's Buffy's seventeenth birthday and this party's a bust. Spike & Drusilla are assembling a demon that will bring forth Armageddon and Angel must leave town to ensure it never awakens. Meanwhile, Jenny Calendar's hidden past proves problematic for the Slayer's love life. Kristen & Mike discuss the "secret gypsy" plot line and the melodrama over Angel leaving town for a few months. They don't make gypsy curses like they used to. In Innocence, following an intimate moment with Buffy, Angel reverts to Angelus. He teams up with Spike & Dru to unleash The Judge on humanity. However, Xander's got a birthday present for Buffy that will introduce this demon to the 21st century. Kristen & Mike define Angel's "moment of happiness" and review how the show handles the subject of sex.
As season one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer winds down, the Master sends The Three to annihilate our hero and the Scoobies finally learn the truth about Angel's identity. Kristen & Mike debate technology's place (or lack thereof) in the show - whether it be the form of firearms, the internet, cell phones, or giant-horned Lothario robots. They also discuss the purpose of The Three, how formidable they actually are, the relationship between Darla & Angel, and the importance of this episode on their backstory. In I, Robot... You, Jane, a charismatic Romeo-esque demon that's trapped inside the internet begins to woo Willow. It's the show's attempt to highlight the dangers of internet dating - and while it was slightly ahead of the curve in that regard, the results are frustratingly clumsy. Kristen & Mike take note of the first appearance of Jenny Calendar, reminisce about 90s tech and their own initial experiences on the internet, and then Mike pitches a version of this episode that corrects all of its major issues.
Sean, Lynn and Tracy discuss the phenomenon of Women in Refrigerators, the unsettling trend in comics (and by extension all scifi and fantasy) for female characters to be killed, raped, depowered, mind controlled and forcibly impregnated. The tragic fates of Carol Danvers, Karen Page and Gwen Stacey are compared to their TV sisters, most notably Joss Whedon characters like Jenny Calendar, Fred and Tara. Whedon talk leads to discussion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dollhouse, plus an earnest look at the dark side of Dawn-bashing. Also there is discussuion of information generation movies like "Catfish" and "The Social Network".
Paul Maki returns for the seventeenth episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's second season, "Passion". Angelus is stalking Buffy, killing Willow's fish and leaving delightful, creep-o-gram drawings for the Slayer and her friends to find. Meanwhile, Jenny Calendar is working on a rare, forgotten spell to restore Angel's soul. Also, Joyce learns of her daughter's recent intimacy with an older man. Much older. Much, much older. In any case, relationships are tested, secrets are revealed and someone dies. Please join Paul and I as we talk about building sets versus shooting on location, practical effects versus CGI, strong casting and even vampire etiquette. NOTE: You may hear it on occasion, but I was enjoying a plate of angel hair pasta during this recording. :)Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the episode on your DVD.
The Dark Age is the eighth episode from the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It seems that Giles was something of a miscreant during his formative years in England. One night of dabbling in the dark arts results in the death of a friend, the unleashing of a globe-trotting demon and a freaky tattoo. Now, Giles must own up to his sins of long ago, as his murderous past has caught up with him. Throw in the slithering Ethan Rayne, the sexy Jenny Calendar and one nasty-looking demon, and The Dark Age is the place to be. Join me as I talk about unexplainable green lighting, a possible connection to Firefly by way of set decoration and one of the more baffling continuity mistakes in the history of this series. As per usual, please listen for my preemptive countdown before starting the episode on your DVD.
