It's the season 1 finale, baby! And boy oh boy is it a heart stopper! This week we learn Buffy's true prophecy and she tries to kiss her life as the slayer goodbye in hopes of living a “normal” teenage life. But suddenly everything goes awry. And we mean reeeealllllly awry – you know, like the type of awry where the Earth cracks open and a whole army of demons emerge? Buffy jumps back into action with help from The Scooby Gang (but with little help from Angel…WTF dude?), and we get an ending that no one saw coming. There will be tears, and zaddy issues, and prom dresses, oh my. It's a heavy season finale, and you won't want to miss it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Xander finally gets the nerve to ask Buffy out, and she feels bad when she has to tell him that she doesn't feel that way about him. Things get far worse, though, when she overhears Giles and Angel discussing a prophecy saying that the Master's ascension is at hand and that she will die trying to stop him. At this, she shouts out, telling Giles that she quits. But the vampires are growing stronger, and after an attack at the school that leaves Willow, in particular, shaken, Buffy decides it is time to face the Master. She is led to him by the Anointed One and is quickly overcome, the Master draining her blood and leaving her face down in the water. Xander, however, performs CPR and Buffy awakes feeling stronger than ever. Meanwhile, Giles, Willow, Cordelia, and Ms. Calendar are fighting off vampires and a huge monster that burst from the Hellmouth at the school. Buffy arrives back at the school to face the Master again and this time wins, throwing him through a glass roof onto a wooden shard below. The monster disappears back into the Hellmouth, and the gang retires to the prom at the Bronze. I am not a man. I am a weapon that fights the forces of darkness. The desire to make Emma mine goes against everything I’ve been trained to do. Yet she’s all I want. When a demon from hell crashes into the liquor store where Emma works, we find ourselves caught in an ancient prophecy that has been set into motion, and it may bring about the end of the world. Emma may appear to be a civilian who’s spent most of her life with her nose stuck in a book, but there is more to her than anyone knows. And I can’t stop Emma from turning my world inside out. Dark secrets are spilling out, destroying everything I once believed, and bloodthirsty monsters are climbing out from every corner. They must kill the chosen one, and I will do everything to stop it. But as the hell beasts begin to close in, I am left with one impossible choice. Save the girl, or save the world. The Diogenes Club Podcast: for the love of Buffy and other awesome.
The holidays are already upon us, and so is the end of the first season of Buffy! In today's episode, we discuss the might, myth, and legendary themes in Buffy Season 1 Episode 12 Prophecy Girl: Wherein Buffy, Slayer of the Vampires, Breaks the First Rule of Slaying. This one is a heavy hitter, so we run a bit long. We dive right in with some further observations about the use of the color red, and then later get into a lengthy discussion about the nature of the slayer and vampire in Buffy lore. We also get to a seasonally appropriate subject and how it parallels Buffy's choices in this episode. Please make sure to comment, email us at info@diogenesclubpodcast.com, and share us with anyone who will enjoy what we do. Above all, make sure to be extraordinarily good to yourselves and those you care about this holiday season.
