WELCOME TO BREAKFAST AND BEATS! Instagram: @breakfastandbeatsnyc I am the producer/host of Breakfast And Beats, HollanDAZE, and I can not be more stoked on all of the art shit that I have going on, and this podcast is one of 'em! What's Breakfast and Beats? Let's break it down so it's bite size. The gimmick is: I invite a different NYC artist to my crib every week for a version of American-style Hot-Breakfast that I make to their tastes! After we eat, and chill, I interview guests about their craft and how they are building a business around their craft. These Interviews I call, Lessons From The Underground (LFTU)! LFTU is a platform where I can help share the stories of my fellow creatives and document the underground art movement here in NYC with as much clarity and depth that I possibly can! A serious undertaking, and wow has it been fulfilling and inspiring and motivates me every day to continue to build and grow my own craft! Stay Tuned for NEW EPISODES every WEDNESDAY! Sincerely, HollanDAZE F*CK THE NOISE
Zach and I continued our conversation about social media anxiety from Pt 1, and the tables turned because Zach was asking me a bunch of questions about how I handle social anxiety online. In 2021, using social media is a must for shameless self promotion online. But how do we use these tools while not losing our marbles?? We may or may not have a couple answers for you. IF youre interested in following Breakfast and Beats on IG @breakfastandbeatsnyc
For this 2 part episode of Breakfast and Beats I invited my very first mentor in the craft of Audio Engineering, Zachary Spiezer. Zach is an accomplished artist/engineer who has released over 6 projects, and a "novelette" as well as opening his own studio space and mentoring fresh minds in the craft. I honestly wouldn't be engineering podcasts and making beats in NYC if it wasn't for this guy. He and I sat down for a lengthy 3 hr episode that I split into two parts. In part 1 we talked about the importance of rest in the creative process. Def a dope episode for any creatives who are grappling with toxic hustle culture and feel like they need a break. July's round of interviews kicked off SPICY with Goldilocks, a Queens based Rapper/Producer extraordinaire. We got into Goldi's come-up story starting with her passion for music and how it evolved into her latest Album, Future Famous, which is available on all streaming platforms. Goldi and I got deep about the creative process and the true message behind her album. **I personally loved this interview because Goldi and I talked about deep concepts and my scorpio ass loves that shit. If you are interested in following Goldi on any platform you can find her: @Yesiamgoldilocks If you want to follow Breakfast and Beats on IG: @Breakfastandbeatsnyc If you want to follow Breakfast and Beats on Youtube: Breakfast and Beats
This week on Breakfast and Beats I was able to have a dope conversation with the lovely, and powerful clothing stylist, Soulflowr. I personally loved this interview because Soulflowr dropped some real
I sat down with my friend Shane, who owns a fashion brand called Norm, to talk about the creative process and owning a business. Shane has been building his brand for several years and is always working to grow his business and engage with his craft and I am always inspired by his work ethic and his clothing! I love his clothes and wear them all the time- I have been a #normboi for what feels like a century now , and I love watching him grow because it gives me the inspiration to grow as well! This is one you won't want to miss. The Designer lifestlye, underground. We are finally ready to come back. I took an entire year's hiatus from this project because of many reasons, COVID is just the most easily accessible excuse for putting a pause on this project. I was overwhelmed by the hype of 2020 and as an introvert, I needed to retreat so that I could come back with a better energy, a more collected mind, and a more clear direction for myself and BREAKFAST AND BEATS! In this episode, my girlfriend, Sammie, and I talk about how the pandemic has effected our lives. We zoomed out and looked at our growth from the beginning of the pandemic to the present and how much our core values have been strengthened during this process. We talked about our small businesses and the way we are utilizing this final round of quarantine to manifest our futures. If you have any suggestions for Breakfast and Beats, Please DM me at @breakfastandbeatsnyc I love receiving feedback.
In the month of August, I challenged UK based producer, @ed.makes.music, to a #30daybeatchallenge and it was a REEEAAALLLLL nail-biter the entire challenge. Tune in to see who won! We also talked about Ed's music and how he is killing the game as a producer. He started making beats just over a year ago and now, with over 350 beats under his belt, Ed is a wealth of knowledge on how to sell beats and make a name for yourself online. Def a must listen for up and coming producers. You can find Ed on instagram as @ed.makes.music and from there you can navigate to his Youtube page and his merch line!
Quarantine hijinx have got my best friend and partner on the mic! @sln238 is an amazing mind. To say the least, she has so much knowledge about FINANCE. She graduated from NYU STERN in 2009 with a bachelor's in finance (and a minor in vocal performance! You'll be able to peep this scene soon!!) and worked directly in the finance industry until 2017 when she started her own business consulting for business owners and freelancers! In this episode, her knowledge is so useful because we talked about the potential financial future of the United States, and the World. There are a lot of what-ifs floating about, but we are here to give a little snap shot of what we think about what has been done. A big thanks to @tay_yoder for posing a great question to us to help us keep the ball rolling! It is not easy to feel mentally stable when the world is so unstable around you. We are all being forced to stay home and try to figure out new ways of making all of this work for us. I spent a lot of time these past 2 days talking with friends (and professionals) about how we can keep our head on straight. Big shout out and moment of silence to the community leaders out there who are really stepping up and taking care of the general population in this difficult time. *moment of silence* In the face of all of this, keeping a hopeful eye on the future, and growing our collective trust is of the utmost importance. Thank you to @mightymight88 @get_fit.hafrican @tenderglitter and @headspace for giving some great mental health tips and tools during this time. New episodes every other day! Stay tuned! Check out my latest drops on my other Spotify, Carlx! I have been working super hard and at this point, I am only making money via royalties. Sadly I am not paid per play for my podcast, but following Carlx on Spotify will keep you up to date on all the latest. Follow me on IG: @breakfastandbeatsnyc Follow Carlx on IG: @loveyouardently
New York City is in chaos. We have public schools closing down leaving 200,000 homeless youth without food and care. There is not appropriate testing for people in the NYC and doctors are telling sick people to stay home rather than come in to be tested because of the severity of the situation. Restaurants and bars and night clubs are closed until further notice, and we are left without jobs and without pay. Shit cant get too much worse, and yet that is where we are headed. Civilians are told to stay inside and quarantine until further notice and we really do not know what the future will hold for NYC residents. In a time where we may want to flee, leaving is not entirely an option for many people and, truly, who knows how much more we could potentially spread this virus if we do leave. Shit is getting crazy and now is the time to stay connected and informed. **EDIT** The CDC has not come out with any information regarding Herd Immunity. The Podcast has been edited to only contain fact based information. Stay Inside. Support your friends and family with emotional/spiritual support through phone calls and monetary giving. Be conscious of reintegrating yourself into society after your recovery **EDIT** New episodes every few days. Stay tuned, Stay Safe.
Breakfast and Beats’s first topical episode is finally HERE! I got to sit down with 2 of my favorite podcast hosts, https://www.instagram.com/kelsoleekennedy/ (@kelsoleekennedy) and https://www.instagram.com/bittertitties/ (@bittertitties), to talk about racism in the queer community. As election season was really gearing up, the queer community was confronted with a queer white democratic candidate, and was also required to look intrinsically at our group values in the face of his candidacy. https://www.instagram.com/gayvoicepod/ (@gayvoicepod) was kind enough to shed some light on the non-binary POC opinion about https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/petebuttigieg/ (#petebuttigieg) and by extension, how racism in the queer community is still alive and well today. I can’t be more thankful to have such a time of education and discussion. Sometimes, my white ass just needs to hear it. All y’all white asses out there, go ahead and tune in to stay educated. All my POC homies who keep giving grace and guiding us to the light, thank you for your emotional labor- I’m so sorry you have to give it in the first place.
