Ascene from Forest Gump. “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know whatyou're going to get.” Relevancy? Sammie De Marco. I didn't really know what toexpect. I did my journalistic diligence. What I found is an amazing, grounded, poignant woman, warmly, broadly smiling, but having lived through narcissisticabuse, sexual assault, trauma, divorce, and the difficult loss of her mom.Sammie took this interview on a resilience journey. I learned a lot from andabout her. She's writing a book and is poised to become a certified life coachin practice. Her message resonated like her engaging persona. And carefully woveninto our interview is nostalgia and 90's boyband concerts (Backstreet Boys). This nostalgia helps her balance the weight of trauma and grief. Commonalityabounds. Jersey shore. Dogs. Divorce. Powerful stuff as is Sammie and her wayof inspiring.” Calvinhttps://www.youtube.com/c/ConversationswithCalvinWetheSpecIEs644 Interviews/Videos 9200 SUBSCRIBERSGLOBAL Reach. Earth Life. Nostalgia isn't just a hobbyfor me; it's healing. Whether I'm at a Backstreet Boys show or a 90sconvention, I find joy in reconnecting with the best parts of my childhood andbringing that positivity into my adult life. But my story isn't just about concerts and meet-and-greets.I've faced my share of hardships—trauma at different stages; betweennarcissistic abuse, sexual assault, religious trauma, the devastating loss ofmy mom 5 years ago, and now, navigating a painful divorce from the person Ionce considered my forever, I have had to learn how to be resilient. Losing mymom was a defining moment that split my life in two: before and after. She wasmy rock, my best friend, and the person who taught me that strength isn't aboutavoiding pain—it's about finding joy despite it.I wasn't always that person. Anxiety ruled my life foryears, but through loss, I've learned how to hold space for both grief and joy.I now live by the belief that while we can't control the hardships life throwsour way, we can absolutely choose to create more of the good. For me, thatmeans dancing, cheering, soaking in all things 90s, and sharing my story in thehopes that it helps someone else feel less alone.I'm passionate about normalizing conversations around mentalhealth and personal resilience. As a certified life coach with training inmindset shifting techniques, I know firsthand how powerful it is to reframe ourstruggles and take ownership of our happiness. While I'm not currently runninga coaching business, it's a dream I plan to build—because our stories, nomatter how messy, have the power to inspire. No matter what it is that I do, I bring my full self:nostalgic fangirl, survivor, and someone who believes in turning pain intopurpose.**LINKS https://www.instagram.com/sammierose1010https://www.tiktok.com/sammierose1010**WE ARE ALSO ON AUDIOAUDIO “Conversations with Calvin; WE the SpecIEs”ANCHOR https://lnkd.in/g4jcUPqSPOTIFY https://lnkd.in/ghuMFeCAPPLE PODCASTSBREAKER https://lnkd.in/g62StzJGOOGLE PODCASTS https://lnkd.in/gpd3XfMPOCKET CASTS https://pca.st/bmjmzaitRADIO PUBLIC https://lnkd.in/gxueFZw
In this powerful episode, Sammie sits down with Cam Newton to share his side of the story, setting the record straight once and for all. He opens up about fatherhood, blended family dynamics, and the lessons that shaped him into the man he is today — while firmly addressing the rumors behind the phrase “No child was harmed.” The conversation goes deeper into love, growth, music, and the state of R&B, with Cam challenging the culture's ear on what real talent sounds like. On today's episode of the podcast, we have a conversation about faith and disability with Sammie's good friend, Gianna Zemet. Gianna is a middle school special education math teacher in the Upper St. Clair School District located in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to teaching, Gianna faithfully serves in her church's Autism Ministry and Student Ministry alongside her husband, Jeremiah. She clearly believes that God has placed a clear calling on her life to teach kids with disabilities and to mentor students/young adults. Our hope is that this conversation would encourage you to think deeply about your theology of disability. How does the Gospel inform the way we think about disability? Though we all have different abilities, our stories are the same. We're more alike than we think. We are all made in the image of God. We all share a story of struggle and find hope in the gospel of Jesus. You'll hear us talk about how to cultivate compassion paired with dignity, how to emphasize "people first language," and practical ways to lean into your community. Here are some things we mentioned in this episode: North Way Christian Community's Autism Ministry"People First Language"Be sure to stay up to date with Abundant Life: You Were Made for More by visiting our blog - and if you're loving the podcast, send guest recommendations to us or leave us a star-rating/review on your favorite listening platform to spread the word about the you were made for more message. You Were Made for More Social Media: FacebookTwitterInstagram

In this episode, I wanted to take some time to really dive into what Sexual Risk Avoidance Education is all about - and some common myths that need debunked as we enter the new school year. If you have a child attending public school this year, please, please, take the time to ask questions to your district about what type of sexual education your teens are receiving. In many states, there are laws in place that do not require schools to disclose that information to parents, even though you are the primary caregivers and ones who are responsible for raising these teens. In public health, a risk avoidance approach is always given primacy when addressing health risk behaviors. In the 1960s, for example, the message regarding smoking wasn't: “Don't begin smoking, but if you are already smoking, it is important to stop.” That would be silly, as I'd say to my almost-5-year old. The message was simple: do not smoke because there are consequences and you could die. See the example below. If we're honest, this model should be applied to sex education as well. My prayer is that this episode would encourage you to invest in your child's education and fight for their hearts in this way. Here are some things we mentioned in this episode: Example of Anti-Smoking AdSources for All Cited FactsBe sure to stay up to date with Abundant Life: You Were Made for More by visiting our blog - and if you're loving the podcast, send guest recommendations to us or leave us a star-rating/review on your favorite listening platform to spread the word about the you were made for more message. You Were Made for More Social Media: FacebookTwitterInstagram
Director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan have cashed in on teaming up over the past decade, from Coogler's debut Fruitvale Station, to Black Panther, to Creed. This 2025 film, their fifth collaboration, sees Coogler double down on Michael B. Jordan - quite literally. Set in the 1932 Mississippi Delta, this genre-defying film sees Jordan play twin brothers who seek to open their own juke joint, only to be threatened by a clan of vampires. The film co-stars Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O'Connell, Jayme Lawson, Delroy Lindo and introduces singer Miles Caton in his first film role. Earning $365 million at the box office to date, it is one of the best-received films of the year so far and an early contender for an Oscar nomination. This week's episode is a deep and honest conversation with Sammie McCracken, founder of Buckskin Rowe, equine sports marketing expert, and all-around inspiring woman. Sammie brings the realness we all need when it comes to navigating burnout, balancing (or not balancing) business and motherhood, and leading a team with empathy. We talk about how burnout can sneak in without warning, especially for high achievers, and what it actually looks like to recognize it in yourself and your team. Sammie shares her personal story of building a business, hiring the right people, and choosing growth over perfection. You'll hear us dive into leadership, team dynamics, and the importance of checking in, on others and on ourselves. Why do we keep drinking even when we know it's hurting us? For Sammie, the answer lay beneath the surface—in the pain she hadn't faced. Her story shows how unresolved trauma leads to drinking and how ignoring what hurts often feels safer than healing. Until it doesn't. In this episode, she opens up about what it took to stop numbing and start living fully. In this raw and real conversation, Annie and Sammie unpack how unresolved trauma leads to drinking and what it means to finally feel your feelings without fear. From parenting through grief to starting over at 49, Sammie's story is a powerful reminder that it's never too late to break old cycles. In this episode, Annie and Sammie discuss: Early alcohol exposure and teen drinking Losing both parents in 19 days Why drinking became her emotional escape What grief looked like in real life What made her stop for good The power of The PATH and the community Experiencing her first alcohol-free festivals Using nursing experience to help others detox safely Finding meaning in coaching and service How unresolved trauma shows up in everyday choices Why it's never too late to change And other topics… Episode links: Sammie's Sober Heroes - https://www.sammiessoberheroes.com/Start reading This Naked Mind - https://thisnakedmind.com/bookJoin The Path - https://go.tnmprograms.com/the-path-from-this-naked-mind
