On September 18, 1998, in the early stages of Typhoon Gading, a Sulpicio Lines Ferry named Princess of the Orient approached Fortune Island in the Batangas province of the Philippines. On board were 338 souls bound for Cebu, 150 of them would never make it there. What unfolded would be a series of errors made by the captain, that would doom these passengers.
