We open this week’s Shoot Around with the wild story out of Ohio: 49ers owner Jed York getting caught up in a prostitution sting over a $140 ad, and the guys break down why guys with that kind of money still make choices like that. After nearly 130 episodes and three years of conversations, Korean. American. Podcast. is coming to a close.What began as a naive and unassuming attempt to deepen our understanding of each other's cultures grew into something neither of us could have ever expected: an English-language learning podcast. Jokes aside, as the episodes got longer and the topics became more complicated, we discovered that when it comes to cultural differences, there rarely is a right and wrong. There is simply different. And if you approach those differences with an open mind and try to understand where they come from, you won't just learn more about others—you'll learn more about yourself.In preparing for our final episodes, we've had a chance to look back and reflect on the journey: the late nights and early mornings; the laughter and tears; the fears, frustrations, doubts, and insecurities; but also the excitement, joy, and yes, jeong, that we've experienced along the way. We're continually amazed by how much our perspectives have changed, and by the conversations and connections this podcast has created.From the beginning, our mission was to spark self-reflection and conversation about the intersections of Korean and American culture—to challenge assumptions, deepen understanding, and explore the ways culture shapes our identity, heritage, and worldview. Bryan Kohberger's unsealed neuropsychological evaluation is the most revealing document in the case, and it has nothing to do with the legal fight. Dr. Rachel Lawson Orr spent six sessions over three months documenting behavioral patterns that Kohberger's own family confirmed had been present for years. Restricted facial expression. Absent social smiling. Conversations refocused back onto himself. Impulsive tendencies. Jokes carried past the point of engagement. Orr diagnosed him with eight conditions, including four previously undisclosed: developmental coordination disorder, depression, anorexia nervosa, and opioid use disorder from a teenage heroin addiction. She noted that Kohberger has met the criteria for autism spectrum disorder since childhood. His parents and sisters told Orr they had tried extensive social coaching for years. It hadn't worked. Forum posts attributed to Kohberger at sixteen describe the same pattern in his own words: no emotion, depersonalization, disconnection from his family, and a belief that the condition made him smarter. Orr's central finding ties the portrait together: "overall poor" insight.
