As we travel, in this 4th Part, through the pages of Deuteronomy, once again you will notice that some talks may commence with a news item upon which some comment is made. Some of these will appear to be very dated - as indeed they are! However, we have taken the decision to leave these in, rather t…
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the Lord thy God. Deuteronomy 27:9
Ephesians 1:13-14 Amplified Bible (AMP) In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit. That [Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance [the firstfruits, the pledge and foretaste, the down payment on our heritage], in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring [complete] possession of it—to the praise of His glory.
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more, But the Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me, now safe am I. All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling In His blessèd presence live, ever His praises sing, Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs, Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs. Souls in danger look above, Jesus completely saves, He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves. He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey, He your Saviour wants to be, be saved today. Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help Love lifted me!
Lord, speak to me, that I may speak In living echoes of Thy tone; As Thou hast sought, so let me seek Thy erring children lost and lone. O use me, Lord, use even me, Just as Thou wilt and when and where; Until Thy blessed face I see, Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share. Amen!
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2.8/9.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4.7
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev. 3. 17-19.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 3:13
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Down in the valley with my Saviour I would go, Where the flowers are blooming and the sweet waters flow; Everywhere He leads me I would follow, follow on, Walking in His footsteps till the crown be won. Down in the valley with my Savior I would go, Where the storms are sweeping and the dark waters flow; With His hand to lead me I will never, never fear, Danger cannot fright me if my Lord is near. Down in the valley, or upon the mountain steep, Close beside my Saviour would my soul ever keep; He will lead me safely in the path that He has trod, Up to where they gather on the hills of God. Follow! follow! I would follow Jesus! Anywhere, everywhere, I would follow on! Follow! follow! I would follow Jesus! Everywhere He leads me I would follow on!
We must know what we believe and be prepared to stand for it. Because if we do not know what we stand for - we will fall for anything!
May we be good soldiers - Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Timothy 2. 1-4
A few “BE NOTS” 2 Thessalonians 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Hebrews 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; Acts 18:9 Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
"I sware by Almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God". This oath, sworn by witnesses in a court of law is what one should expect from our church leaders. Sadly, how often we get mixed messages?
Speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: hold fast the faithful word as we have been taught, that we may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers, these profess that they know God; but in works they deny him.
What an important task is entrusted to an ambassador for a monarch or a sovereign state, to representative his country in a foreign land. To act and behave in such a manner as to show all the attributes, qualities and benefits which that state affords its citizens. We are ambassadors for Jesus Christ. Are we responsible ambassadors?
As we watch the world go by we realise the shallow tedious lives many sadly live. Living in hope of 'Lady Luck' producing a lottery win, a winner on the dogs or the horses or other hopeless gamble. This world needs a certainty - a Saviour. The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin, The Light of the World is Jesus, Like sunshine at noonday His glory shone in, The Light of the world is Jesus But the world has rejected Jesus.
The only nourishment the Levites had came through the worship of God. There was no other way, we read of no ‘Plan B’! Similarly our only Spiritual food comes only through worship and service of God. Any earthly inheritance we lean upon in this world may provide fleeting satisfaction to our material and fleshly desires but will never feed our spiritual souls and nourish and refresh them! They will never satisfy and sustain us through this barren life. God has provided through Christ all things for us and to enable us to be healthy and vigourous in His service. - 2 Peter 1:3* According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
