The phrase “Mind Over Matter” refers to the power of thought, regardless of physical limitations. Does Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare reveal that Freddy Krueger lived at 1428? Freddy's Dead is a unique animal in the franchise. Some love it, some hate it. Outside of its heavily comedic elements, Freddy's Dead also changes up what audiences have thought about Krueger up until that point.   For one, it establishes he had a daughter. The imagery and effects of the A Nightmare on Elm Street films are mystifying and iconic. Production designer and art director, Mick Strawn, has been the creative force in everything we have come to know and love about the Elm Street universe. From the Freddy snake to the junk yard of death, tongue-tied Joey, Alice & Dan's crash into nothingness, and more, the most cherished visuals in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master are courtesy of the brilliant Mick Strawn. Not only has he influenced the films, but he has also worked on the Dokken "Dream Warriors" video, the video for "Are You Ready for Freddy?" by the Fat Boys, and Freddy's Nightmares. Even beyond Springwood, Mick has an impressive resume. Our hosts Diandra and Paige discuss the sets, effects, and creative elements of the Nightmare films with Mick. The start of the A Nightmare on Elm Street phenomenon began with Amanda Wyss. In a homage Janet Leigh, Tina seemed to be the heroine, but was tragically the first on-screen victim of Freddy Krueger. Dream Warriors is arguably the fan favorite A Nightmare on Elm Street film, but have you read the early script by Wes Craven and Bruce Wagner? Freddy Krueger is an icon of not only horror, but also cinema. His popularity has spawned an array of sequels, books, comics, TV shows, and fan films. His story is interesting and it's one of the many reasons his character has remained a cinematic staple for over 30 years.
