Based on a comic strip from the 1900s, Nemo is a young boy from London summoned to the kingdom of Slumberland, a fantasy realm filled with strange creatures and dream-like locations. You soon learn that the King of Slumberland has been kidnapped by the Prince of Nightmares, and you are requested to save him by Princess Camille. Using your only weapon, a sack of candy, you stun enemies and lull friendly animals into helping you through levels like the Mushroom Forest and Train Land. This platformer featured licensed characters and artwork from the comic, along with using the animals, such as apes and moles, to traverse through the different terrain.Support NEStalgia directly by becoming a member of our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/Nestalgia Members at the $5 and above level get access to our brand new show NEStalgia Bytes. This week we kick open the boiler room door to the absolute madness of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and 4: The Dream Master, where logic sleeps and chaos reigns supreme. Here's what you're signing up for (you've been warned):
We're finally back on Elm Street for the fourth Nightmare on Elm Street. Hope you're not afraid of bugs.
Our final episode of Nine Nights with Freddy! We wrap up the franchise with a ranking episode. Then as a special finale for finishing up the unholy trilogy, we rank Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare against each other! This is a recording of the video on Youtube, be sure to check that out here https://www.youtube.com/@ATHNetworkPods

Bringing up the rear of our Nightmare on Elm Street retrospective is the rightfully maligned remake. Friends, this thing might be the worst thing we've ever reviewed over here at Binge Buddies HQ. Doesn't get much worse than this, and doesn't get much more entertaining than us taking this pile to task.
Bryan, Matt, and Joel chat this week about one of the most covered film in the ATH history. We have recorded episodes on this thing so many times and I can't really say why! But this is the first time we have approached it as a Freddy movie instead of a Jason and that might have made the film better?
Renny Harlin (and others....) manage to direct the hell out of a film that despite everything working against it, so many bad decisions, and a deadline ends up being entertaining! #anightmareonelmstreet4 #nightmareonelmst #freddykrueger #robertenglund
Things get wild and weird this week at Binge Buddies. A great movie let down by a less than exciting kill count and an aggressive run time. The Binge Buddies mostly enjoyed this one, but its not free of its bruises. Like always though the Binge Buddies have a blast talking about it!
This week on the latest Nine Nights with Freddy Bryan Dressel, Matt "Zombie Dog Electric Hedge Trimmers" Dykes, Joel "Sheers" DeWitte, Ryan "Garden Canes and Sticks" Lootens talk about the dreadful Freddy's Dead: The New Nightmare. The worst? Maybe not. Certainly not great.
We're diving deep into the dream realm of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER and then heading to Camp Crystal Lake for the mayhem of FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER. From Freddy's surreal dream kills to Jason's brutal rampage, we're talking favorite scenes, behind-the-scenes tidbits, and what makes these films stand out in their respective franchises. Joining us on this fright-filled episode, special guest Bob O'Rourke is ready to get some extra winks at Camp Crystal Lake with us, so lock your doors and hold onto your sleeping bags - it's about to get Spooky!
“In our dreams, we're beautiful and bad.” Speaking of beautiful and bad, we're here to review A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) (with Spoilers for both movies)! In Episode 126 of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, Horror Avenger “Fred Head” Ron Martin returns again to lead Parts 3 and 4 of our short series for the Nightmare on Elm Street 40th Anniversary Retrospective. This very lengthy episode features Ron Martin, Dave Zee, Spawn of the Dead and Jay of the Dead. We get to hear about Dave Zee's video store stalking the video store stocking, as well as Dave Zee's incredibly convincing Freddy Krueger impersonations! Which Elm Street movie does Ron Martin think has aged the best? And in addition to some insanely in-depth critiques of Part 4, you'll hear Dave Zee say, “By all means, be a pedophile.” Join us! Be sure to subscribe to Jay of the Dead's new Horror movie podcast on: Apple PodcastsSpotifyDeezer You are welcome to email our show at HauntingYourHeadphones@gmail.com, or call and leave us a voicemail at (801) 980-1375. Bryan, Matt, Joel and Ryan have their work cut out for them this week. The knowledge that this isn't even the worst of the franchise is more horrifying than any of the films so far! But when Nightmare gets bad it also gets super fun! The gang has a blast digging into the total nonsense that is this movie!
Bryan, Zombie-Dog, Joel and Ryan have their work cut out for them this week as Nightmare 4 becomes a challenge to defend. There might be glimmers of a good time, but the Binge Buddies have a rough time waking from this Nightmare.
Matt and Eric work a double shift at the CRAVE INN, bringing you A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER. Yup, FreddyMania is at its peak in 1988 as Mr. Krueger finds a new batch of teens to kill while the torch is passed to a new heroine. Plus, news on some live-action(?) LEGO movies in the works and more cool LANTERNS casting..
In this episode, we tackle one more discussion topic to keep the October Halloween celebrations going. In an era where reboots and revivals are running wild, we posed a simple question: What if beloved anthology horror series Masters of Horror returned for a third season? Our parameters were simple. Assume 13 episodes because the other two seasons had that many. We each take six picks to be as even as possible and tapped Michael to give us his number one suggestion to round out number 13. The major stipulation is that each filmmaker needs to have not already appeared in the prior two seasons of the show. Watch as we wade into the trenches fighting to honor those who may have missed out on the original show's run or staking the claim of master for more modern directors. How did we do? Who did we miss? We'd love to hear your thoughts too! But before all that, we dish on more of our horror watches for the Halloween season. And so much more! In this episode's b-side, we reminisce about high school antics, discuss the dangers of Chubby Bunny, and evaluate how we'd try to take down Freddy Krueger. When I was in high school a book of Batman stories came out called “The Further Adventures of Batman: 14 All New Adventures of the Caped Crusader”. It was filled with short stories by several different authors, and it was different than anything else I'd read from the Dark Knight's exploits, because this wasn't a comic book – there were no pictures, just story after story. Somehow it kept my interest, and I remembered it today from back in 1989 when I read it for the first time – the year it came out. The first story was the one I remembered best, so it's the one I bring to you tonight… it's called “Death of the Dream Master” by Robert Sheckley. I've linked to the book it's from below in the sources/references.SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…“Death of the Dream Master” by Robert Sheckley, from the book “The Further Adventures of Batman: 14 All New Adventures of the Caped Crusader” (edited by Martin H. It's a charming little NES platformer where you feed animals candy until they pass out, and then you wear their skin. Seriously. If it sounds kinda messed up, well, it is. But it's also a really fun, kinda tough NES game, and it's made by Capcom, so it has to be decent at worst. I remember seeing it in magazines as a kid, and renting it a couple times. I used to think it was too hard, but playing it now I find it most beatable (that final level is pretty rough). Getting to play as the various animals is cool, and hey, who doesn't love poisonous candy? My guest this week is the man that has been on me to cover this game for 5+ years, long-time hot dog, Awright/Andrew. I asked him why he loves this game so much, and we ranked the various animal costumes, went through all the levels, and made fun of how fucked up the premise of the game is. This was a good time. And before we feed animals candy, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks me for Steam Deck recommendations. What's a good game for someone to try tactical RPGs with? And how often do people make bad puns with my last name?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 lesser-known Capcom NES games: Strider, Code Name: Viper, and Bionic Commando. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Filmmaker Renny Harlin (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4, DIE HARD 2, CLIFFHANGER, DEEP BLUE SEA, THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, DRIVEN, EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his long and incredible career journey. From growing up in Finland and sneaking into restricted films underage… to watching a scene being filmed for Don Siegel's TELEFON (1977) as a child and deciding in that moment that he was going to become a Hollywood action director… to how shooting just a part of his debut feature BORN AMERICAN (1986) lead to a US production company fully financing the rest of the production… to his early days being broke and struggling in Hollywood while living in a friend's garage… to how casting Kane Hodder in his first role as a creature character in 1987's PRISON lead to John Carl Buechler casting Kane as “Jason Voorhees” one year later… to making A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER and how he came up with and shot the film's amazing opening sequence… to the unfortunate timing of 1990's THE ADVENTURES OF FIRD FAIRLANE which was released right as the cultural backlash began against comedian/star Andrew Dice Clay and how the film has surprisingly gone on to become one of his most beloved… to working with Sylvester Stallone on 1993's CLIFFHANGER… to creating one of the most memorable moments in cinema while shooting 1999's DEEP BLUE SEA… to making his latest feature THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1 (in theaters this weekend!) as part of a trilogy that was shot all at once… to the real reason he has yet to attend a DGA social event… Renny candidly opens up in this phenomenal conversation that is filled with cinema anecdotes, filmmaking advice and loads of inspiration. Inspired by actual events, the film takes place over the course of 24 hours and recounts the grisly murders that occurred over winter of 1978, when a serial killer attacked multiple victims on an undisclosed college campus. The film, which premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, marks the directorial debut of award-winning actor/producer Devanny Pinn (Frost, The Dawn). A brutal and unflinching look at a terrifying rampage, The Black Mass takes a new perspective on the tropes of the serial killer biopic, giving voice to the ones who rarely have one: the killer's victims. Featuring performances by Jeremy London (Mallrats), Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass), Kathleen Kinmont (Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers), Lisa Wilcox (Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), and Susan Lanier (The Hills Have Eyes).
